** Eliza has a perpetual ThousandYardStare, is [[PerpetualFrowner near-constantly wearing a small frown]], her way of speaking is difficult to understand and somewhat unnerving, and she acts incredibly awkwardly, which all combine to give her a NightmareFace whenever she tries to interact with other people. However, despite all that, she's a good woman and loving mother, with her creepy stare being due to reading way too many parenting books, and her awkward attitude being simply caused by nervousness.

* MuliArmedAndDangerous: Veronica is a demon with four arms, which she mainly uses for MundaneUtility, such as playing two-player games by herself or brushing her teeth while washing her body in the shower. Though since she sometimes mixes up which arms are doing what, one time brushing her teeth with shampoo, she decided that two hands are enough for some things.

* AccentAdaptation: Some of the characters, such as Veronica and Eliza, use certain Japanese dialects that are commonly considered difficult to understand for other Japanese, so when translators got to them, they substituted their own difficult to understand accents. However, while Veronica has consistently been depicted with a heavy southern accent, Eliza wasn't fully decided on. The initial translator started out by giving her a heavy, almost impossible to understand Irish accent, with the translation shown in side notes, then they dropped the accent, before finally deciding on a strong Irish accent while still being mostly understandable. Meanwhile, when the manga got a new translator, they dropped the idea of giving Eliza an accent altogether.

* FaceOfAThug: Garron has the looks of a shady and villainous demon who works with Minami in order to exert government control over Lorem and Gospel, but he's actually a genuinely good guy that fully supports Minami's desires to bring about a peaceful coexistence between humans and demons. Minami even {{lampshade|Hanging}}s that his appearance can give people the wrong impression about his character.

* CerebusRollercoaster: The story repeatedly shifts between light-hearted comedy and serious drama, with when the shift will happen not always being obvious. The main system for it is having several light-hearted slice-of-life chapters, followed by a serious arc, followed by more slice-of-life chapters, so on and so forth. However, sometimes the seriousness will be intermingled with the comedy, such as the introduction and aftermath of the anti-demon mine in chapter 12, with the following chapters being mostly comedic while interjecting scenes of Lorem being worried about her parenting abilitis, with it only returning to full comedy after Chiharu and Merii help her work through her worries.

** The buildup to Minami and Garron's first appearances makes it seem like they're evil government agents who are looking to lock up Lorem and Gospel for her past actions. [[spoiler: Turns out Minami is a WideEyedIdealist who believes in human-demon coexistence and is really intending to help Lorem, and Garron is just there to protect Minami]].

* ACupAngst: Sera feels this way about her chest, which is somewhat worse because the boy she's in love with, Fuuga, is friends with several women that are ''much'' bigger than her, making her feel insecure about her appeal.

* CannotSpitItOut: Sera is quite obviously in love with Fuuga, but alongside his [[ObliviousToLove denseness]], she finds it really difficult to be honest with her feelings.
* ClingyJealousGirl: Sera does ''not'' like it when she sees Fuuga interacting with other women, especially ones more endowed than her. This insecurity mostly fades when said more endowed other women assure her they're rooting for her and Fuuga.

* WhamLine: Chapters 110-119 detail the history of Gospel's father, how he and Lorem met, and why he's not in the picture. While he has his reasons already for keeping his distance and hiding his connection to Lorem and Gospel, his concerns take on a new light when the fact that [[spoiler:the poison his body generates is the basis for the Anti-Demonification weapons that have allowed human-demon relations to improve]] prompts an important question: [[spoiler:"Will the A.D. Weapon work on Gospel?" Being the son of the demon whose poison was used to make the weapon means there's a very good chance he would be highly resistant, if not outright immune to its effects]]. Couple that with being known as the son of one of the most powerful and infamous demons in the series and Gospel's father has ample reason to keep away until the more humanity's more hawkish factions are unable to act.

* StatingTheSimpleSolution: After Valentine's live concert, which resulted in her CompellingVoice causing multiple demons to involuntarily demonify, she approaches Merii with a request to [[spoiler:remove her voice so she can't sing anymore]] to prevent a repeat of the incident from occurring, even though doing so means the end of her career as an idol. Only after Merii is able to fix the problem without [[spoiler:rendering Valentine mute]] does she point out that Valentine could have avoided a repeat of the concert incident by simply quitting being an idol. However, she also acknowledges that Valentine's more extreme choice of action was an indication of how much she didn't ''want'' to quit and took take steps to make certain that she wouldn't have a choice.

* PowerNullifier: The human government managed to somehow create "anti-demonification" gas in the past, allowing them to nullify the various powers of demons and make dangerous ones easier to subdue. [[spoiler:The source of it is actually Zeke, Lorem's husband and Gospel's father, whose personal demon power allows him to produce a poison from his bladed body-parts that suppresses demonic powers until the poison leaves their system.]]

* ACupAngst:
** Valentine has a similar issue to Chiharu, but unlike her she can ''do'' something about it. When she and Chiharu hang out with Merii and Teresa and gets noticeably upset at the bust sizes of their companions, Chiharu witnesses Valentine use her shapeshifting to enlarge her chest on the spot.
** Sera also feels this way about her chest, which is somewhat worse because the boy she's in love with, Fuuga, is friends with several women that are ''much'' bigger than her, making her feel insecure about her appeal.

* HeroicSacrifice: Valentine, who has spent years training her singing voice in the hope that her songs can help bring true peace between humans and demons, is utterly horrified when [[spoiler:she discovers that her voice has the hidden power to force demons to demonify, which could very easily spread the image of demons as out-of-control monsters instead]]. She begs Merii to [[spoiler:remove her vocal cords so that she can never cause harm like that again]]. Fortunately this is subverted in the end: Merii was able to [[spoiler:identify the organ that was the true cause of the effect, and removed that instead.]]
* IdolSinger: The demon Valentine became one for both demons and humans, in the hope of helping the two species come together.

* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Demon idol Valentine's introductory arc features a side plot in which demons are demonifying at random in populated areas. The only commonalities are the demons themselves didn't seem to do it on purpose and have no memory of the fact afterward, and each incident featured Valentine's music playing somewhere. This makes Zeke suspect that Valentine has the power to force demons into their demonified forms against their will, and suspects she's doing it intentionally. He's half-right, in that Valentine's voice can force demonification, but Valentine herself didn't know she could do that. For this reason, when her first concert results in the demons in the audience starting to demonify, she's just as shocked as everyone else. Events work out so that everyone is made to think it's AllPartOfTheShow, but Valentine is horrified to discover what she can do, as her own voice could destroy her dream peace between humans and demons. She approaches Merii, fully prepared to [[spoiler:have her vocal cords completely removed by Merii's healing powers]]. Fortunately Merii is able to solve the problem while still enabling Valentine to continue singing as an idol.

* VoluntaryShapeshifting: This is the special power of Valentine, the demon idol. Initially she can even transform into inanimate objects, but after [[spoiler:Merii fixes her voice]] she says that the power has grown weaker. Even then she can still assume the form of any person, human or demon, that she wants.

* PoisonousPerson: Zeke's ability is to create a nonlethal poison that can prevent other demons from using their abilities. It makes him very valuable to C.A.T.T. but has hampered his ability to connect with other demons since his mere presence can prevent them using their powers. [[spoiler: It's later revealed his poison was the basis for the Anti-Demonification gas that humans used to secure victory in the war]].

* OddFriendship: Lorem and Eliza. Lorem is brash, outgoing, and ditzy RetiredMonster. Eliza is a reserved ShrinkingViolet who's grown up ostracized for not having abilities like other demons do. The two are so different Minami actively questions their becoming friends when she hears about it. Lorem was encouraged to reach out to her after seeing Eliza had a baby about the same age as Gospel, since it would give Gospel a playmate and Lorem a fellow mother to bond with.

* DaddyHadAGoodReasonForAbandoningYou: When Lorem reveals who Gospel's father is to Chiharu, Chiharu begins crying wanting to know he hasn't been there and helping. Lorem reveals he ''has'' been helping, they just can't see it. Indeed, the flashback following this chapter shows the history of Gospel's father. [[spoiler:Gospel's father Zeke worked for C.A.T.T. fighting renegade demons, but abandoned the job after meeting Lorem. He returned to C.A.T.T. to help keep the then-pregnant Lorem off the radar as much as possible, as there was increasing scrutiny regarding independent demons once the war finally died down. He went so far as to play up the infamous Lorem as his arch-enemy to keep their own connection secret. He also got Merii released from human custody and anonymously informed her of Lorem's location and Gospel's birth. He has every intention of returning once he can be sure Lorem and Gospel will be safe, and feels confident of that day's coming as Human-Demon relations improve and C.A.T.T.'s mandate steadily weakens]].
