* BlackDudeDiesFirst: The members of the Night Ring all have dark skin and get massacred halfway through the series. Their leader Jeso is the first Top to be killed (on-screen at least) after the TimeSkip.

Added DiffLines:

* ButNotTooBlack: In the manga, the skin tones of the four Rings are far more obviously different. Most notably, the Ochre Ring in the manga is made up of actual brown people, whereas Third in the anime just looks like he has a tan.

* AmbiguouslyBi: Zagi. His relationship with Karim is complicated, but definitely of a romantic/sexual nature; and his attraction to Thor is so blatant that Karim gets jealous.

** Also, the Ochre Ring's Top before the TimeSkip.

** Also, the The Ochre Ring's Top before the TimeSkip.TimeSkip was at least as big a jerk as Zagi, without any of the qualities that make Zagi an interesting character.

* PenalColony: Chimera,
* ProgressivelyPrettier: Most of the characters in the manga, but Zagi stands out.

Added DiffLines:

* WildChild: Every child born on Chimaera is abandoned in infancy, to be raised in "yado nests" by other wild children until they're older and strong enough to earn their place in a Ring. Zagi is introduced as the leader of one of the feral packs -- he's the closest thing to human among them.

* CelebrityVoiceActor: The voices of adult Thor and Third were provided by idols Koichi Domoto and Shun Oguri, respectively. Although neither of them had any previous voice acting experience, they both did a surprisingly good job.

* HeyItsThatVoice
** Creator/NanaMizuki as Tiz
** Creator/KazuyaNakai as Zagi
** Romi Paku as Karim
** Creator/MinamiTakayama as young Thor and Rai and their mother.
** In the dub, older Thor is Koenma, and Zagi is Sakyo and Yuki (!)
*** Also in the dub Thor and Rai are voiced by Alison Viktorin, who much like Creator/MinamiTakayama also voices Conan Edogawa

** Zagi might also count. He's fighting for independence and the abolition of a cruel and manipulative ruling system, but his methods are ruthless and downright cruel at times.
