However Saitou reveals that the "dagger" was actually a second sheathe disguised to make the blade look normal: revealing that the daggers '''real''' blade hidden beneath the sheathe was made from Mithril Silver and actually worth upwards of 300 Coins.

* OvertookTheManga: The manga started in 2018, while the anime started in January 2023. Despite the huge gap, the manga's short chapters meant the anime caught up a little ''too'' quickly; specifically, by the point in the manga [[spoiler:the party starts looking for the dog that ate Morlock's penis]], the anime had already moved past it and concluded its 12 episode run. Time will tell if the manga follows the same story or not.

However, he pursued his career to the point of ignoring his ill daughter and wife's distress. While he succeed in achieving his goal to attain the rank of a great mage, his daughter died hoping he would come home, clutching the necklace she made for her father and he never once wore before she died. With not enough money to pay for a resurrection as it was put all into his lab, his wife leaves him. After [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone realizing that he really should've took his wife's warnings more seriously]] and after his wife angrily leaves him after their daughter dies. he takes a moment to realize that, for all the effort that it took to attain his mage certification, he trashes various things in his house in anger after he comes to terms with the fact that [[AllForNothing it means nothing now with the result of his only daughter dead and wife leaving him after selfishly accomplishing his mage-related goal.]] He then seeks out in the Great Labyrinth a mage who is said to control time. He finds him, but fails to win a duel with the mage to make him train Morlock in these magics to reverse time and save his daughter. The mage, before departing to other worlds, grants Chrome a "gift" and promises to erase the guilt he suffers from by erasing his memories of his old life. After this and misreading the necklace's tiles, he becomes Morlock the senile wizard with poor memory]].

When Saitou is charmed, Raelza saves him and scares her off with an attack, but this causes Saitou to switch to being charmed for Raelza, to her embarrassment. * HeroicSelfDeprecation: Saitou constantly looks down on himself as "dead weight" since he is not strong, can't fight, and can't do magic, not noticing how important he is and that his party members truly care about him. It's best showcased when he's out with a cold for a few days, with the party notably struggling without his additional support he provides.
* HonorBeforeReason: Lafanpan suffers a hereditary curse where she will shrink over time unless she gives offers of gold coins as tribute to the moon goddess. When Saito learns about this from Raelza, he considers giving more of his share to Lafanpan to help her out but Raelza dismisses the gesture. Lafanpan is too proud to accept charity like that and will only take gold she has earned by finding treasure or being paid for magic buffs or minor healing.



* JackOfAllTrades: Saitou can do a lot of things beyond lockpicking from making a custom backpack for Lafanpan to cooking. He notes he's always been good at everything, but also never fully shined in anything either, which contributed to his self-worth issues as he grew older.

** Lafanpan initially serves as this. She has no offensive power, but she is able to heal her allies and provide defensive buffs.
** Saitou also grows into this role as he learns new skills. He studies magic to help Morlock remember his incantations, he provides defense for Lafanpan while she heals and buffs the others, and he keeps extra weapons on hand so that Raelza can switch them out as needed. He's become such an integral part of the party dynamics that when he's out with a cold, the party struggles enough for Raelza to demand he recover soon.

** The King in the omake chapters. When no one shows up to be a hero to slay the Demon Lord, he decides to do it himself. He proceeds to do so using just an average sword he bought from a store because he forgot his actual equipment at the castle.
