* Normally, it's not the villain that is the most sympathetic character, however Shylock is more of a victim than a villain. So Scene 4 of Shakespeare's ''Theatre/TheMerchantofVenice'' is very depressing. For example, Shylock believes that he will finally get his revenge thanks to the law, which he puts so much faith in. It looks like he will, and it seems as if the doctor Balthasar (really Portia in disguise) is actually on his side, and that he will actually get to have his revenge for Antonio being so cruel to him. However, Portia was only pretending to be on his side, and then said that he could have flesh without blood. This is clearly ridiculous, for you can't have flesh without blood, but the kangaroo court accepts it. Then, Shylock's faith in the law really gets crushed when Portia brings out the Alien Edict against him. Then Shylock loses almost everything, including his religion. Then Portia asks him cruelly if he is content. I even imagine her laughing when she asks him. Broken, Shylock says that he is content. Portia and everyone else was clearly toying with him, and that's allowed, why because he is a Jew. Basically, in the Merchant of Venice, which is my favorite play, the villains are victimized and are more virtuous then the heroes! Antonio should have died!

** In the 2011 Season, the Texas Rangers were so close to winning a World Series. In game 6 against the Cardinals, the Rangers were one strike away from winning it all...only for David Freese to tie the game with a two-run double, which would lead to extra innings. In the top of the 10th inning, the Rangers took another two run lead, off a Josh Hamiliton home run, making it 9-7. In the bottom of the 10th, the score was 9-8, but the Rangers had the Cardinals down to their last strike AGAIN...only for Lance Berkman to single to center field to tie the game again. And then, to end it all, David Freese hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 11th, for a 10-9 Cardinals win, which would eventually lead to the Cardinals winning the World Series in the next game.

* [[PunctuatedForEmphasis Ronnie. From]]. ''EastEnders''. Every single time it looks like she's going to have a happy ending, the producers cruelly snatch it away from her practically going "Neener neener!", be it a potential reconcilement with Danielle being ruined by [[ShaggyDogStory Danielle getting ran over and killed instantly]] or her being caught out when she goes to mad lengths to get a child again. It looks as if recently she's finally having an honest to god child again and all's well... but in true Soap fashion (As revealed in television magazine spoilers), said baby stops breathing and may have suffered cot death barely a day after being born, pushing Ronnie way past her [[DespairEventHorizon limit]]. That is if she hasn't already been punted over it before now.
