* Following his split with Disney, ''WesternAnimation/{{Gargoyles}}'' creator GregWeisman [[http://www.s8.org/gargoyles/askgreg/faq/ has addressed]] many obscure questions otherwise unanswered by show material and is considered the authoritative source, to the point most fans do not consider the last season {{canon}}. ** Notably, some fans want J.K to ''stop'' giving out information, because there's a point where it feels like the answers weren't intended for the canon and are only being given because they're requested. Creator/JohnGreen, who firmly believes in DeathOfTheAuthor has said that he disagrees with Rowling's abundance of out-of-text information.

Note that a number of people [[FanonDiscontinuity reject]] the notion of Word of God, considering something to be {{canon}} only if it appeared in the original source material, and that if the creator wanted a certain fact to be canon, they should have included it in the work to begin with. Some people go even further, considering the uncertainty and ambiguity of canon to be a ''good'' thing and decry the Word of God as shackling the imagination and interpretations of the fans -- a belief supported by some modern literary criticism, notably in Wimstatt and Beardsley's "The Intentional Fallacy" and Barthes' DeathOfTheAuthor essay, both of which argue that the interpretation of a work cannot be limited to attempts to discern the "author's intentions."

* In the ''{{Dragonlance}}'' series of books, it is rumored, debated, and shot down by a character, that Usha is Raistlin's daughter. * Hoshino Katsura, creator of ''DGrayMan'' has stated while the manga has touches of Religion to it, it is not based from The Bible, and is more scifi. She also gives trivia info regarding some of the characters. She states the first thing Allen does when waking up is count money. Cross sleeps in the nude so he can tan and smoke before he gets dressed. She's also stated that Cross finds Allen cute, and considers Allen to be his child. [[spoiler: She stated in recent interview that Lvellie had siblings who were killed by experimentation, he's the last one left.]]

** ''VideoGame/{{Undertale}}'' has brought a lot of shippers often trying to ship the character Sans with a variety of characters, the most popular of which is the character Toriel. Toby Fox would state on his twitter in a reaction to all of these ships that Sans is far too lazy to ever commit to any relationship. This has not stopped the shippers from putting Sans with almost every cast member.
