* Some of the original animated content on ''YouTube Kids'' consists of third party animated cartoons and use iconic characters, mainly from Disney, such as ''WesternAnimation/MickeyMouse'', ''Disney/{{Frozen}}'', and ''Disney/{{Moana}}''. However, other characters such as ''WesternAnimation/Minions'', ''WesternAnimation/PawPatrol'', ''WesternAnimation/Peppa Pig'', ''WesternAnimation/BubbleGuppies'', ''WestenAnimation/Trolls'' and ''WesternAnimation/TheBossBaby'' are also featured. These might look innocent, but in reality, they are not. Most of these videos often show disturbing and graphic material such as blood and are usually loud most of the time due to the unsettling screaming and crying. Many of topics can vary. Examples of these are pooping, peeing, farting, kidnapping, hostage, robbery, animal abuse, injections (often on the buttocks), doing drugs, and even ones that you wouldn't expect such as committing suicide, death, and pregnancy. Most of these videos rank up more than 1 million views.
** On that same subject, sometimes YouTube Kids include videos from normal [=YouTubers=] that contain offensive content. Aside from the already mentioned cartoons and ''How It Should Have Ended'', non-kids content on the app has included several episodes of ''Bronies React'', clips from adult-oriented animated shows such as ''Franchise/LoveLive'', ''Anime/OnePunchMan'', ''WesternAnimation/BobsBurgers'' and ''WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons'', several [=SML=] movies (most notably "Bowser Junior Goes To Disney World!", which features a dragon puppet singing about how he stabbed his wife with a knife and contains a scene where Chef Pee-Pee finds Mickey Mouse doing drugs in the hotel room), ''VideoGame/FinalFantasy'' gameplay and [=AMVs=] mashing up kids' shows and adult shows such as ''[[https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jm6MpaDeWqw Dragon Maids]]'', ''Yakko, Wakko and Dot Sing The Freaking FCC'', and [[https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NShgvtEro7I a Bert and Ernie video]] using audio from ''Film/{{Casino}}''. However, most of these have since been removed as YouTube recieves feedback on the app daily from its' users.

* ''WebAnimation/HowItShouldHaveEnded'' may appear to be a funny cartoon portraying alternate endings of movies and TV shows, including some that kids love, but don't let that fool you. This series sometimes has cursing, violence (in their ''Film/TheWizardOfOz'' parody, the witch is shot with a gun) and pop culture jokes that kids wouldn't understand (for example, Bing Bong singing a song from [[Film/TheBreakfastClub an R-rated movie]] in their ''WesterAnimation/InsideOut'' parody.)

* Stephen Sondheim's ''Theatre/IntoTheWoods''. Oh, it's a cheery musical with all of our favorite fairy tale characters together! Then Act Two comes around, most of the characters get killed by a rampaging giant, and suddenly it's not so cheery anymore. The show has enjoyed myriad SchoolPlay productions anyway, but as of TheNewTens the show's licenser now offers a "Junior" version for school and children's theater groups that drops the second act.
** Like the musical, the 2014 Disney adaptation went through the same thing. What's worse is that Common Sense Media says it's appropriate for '''ten-year-olds'''.

* Check out the reviews of Creator/CirqueDuSoleil's ''Theatre/MichaelJacksonTheIMMORTALWorldTour'' at Ticketmaster.com and see how many parents say that the "Dangerous" number, featuring a bikini-clad acrobat (who used to perform in Cirque's adults-only production ''Zumanity'') performing a daring pole dance, doesn't belong in a "family" show. The show is ''not'' marketed to families, but because of Cirque's name above the title and the allegedly family-friendly subject matter, oodles of them go anyway. Everyone seems to forget that Music/MichaelJackson's work is a sterling example of WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids full of adult themes and choreography from ''Thriller'' onward, and yet marketed to kids for years.

* Some toddlers have been taken to see ''Film/KinkyBoots'', and a sensory-friendly Broadway series for children with disabilities featured it as one of the plays. It's about people going to a shoe show, and young children, especially girls, like dressing up, so many parents falsely believe the show could appeal to them. It's actually about a drag queen who has to deal with adult problems at that shoe show.

Figuarts line which is more geared towards adults even if most of the properties are based on [[WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids children's shows such as]] ''Anime/DragonBallZ'', ''Franchise/KamenRider'', and ''SuperSentai''. With most figures hovering around 3,000-8,000 yen, the prices certainly would scare off some parents from getting these for their kids. Their most expensive figure Machine Itashar from ''Series/HikoninSentaiAkibaranger'' (which does fit under this trope) costs about 10 times what normal figures cost. To wit, S.H.
