** Due to the cast of characters being formed [[MerchandiseDriven on what toys were being sold on the shelves]] rather than narrative stakes, the heroic Autobots actually outnumber the Decepticons on season 1, since more "good guy" toys were sold than "bad guy" toys. The 'cons only had Megatron, Soundwave and his cassettes, the Seeker trio and the Reflector trio initially. This is especially visible during the pilot, which had the animators invent a bunch of generic PaletteSwap soldiers just to make the Decepticon army look less anemic in crowd shots. At least in Season 2, while still having less toys (and therefore unique characters) than the Autobots, the Decepticons' numbers were bolstered by a CloneArmy of Insecticons which were replaced by [[{{Mooks}} the Sweeps]] during Season 3. In terms of human allies, the Autobots have the public support of almost the entire Earth while the Decepticons are known villains who only occasionally get help from rogues like [[MadScientist Dr. Arkeville]], though Megatron manages to briefly flip this status around for [[Recap/TransformersG1MegatronsMasterPlan a single two-parter]].

* ''Anime/SenkiZesshouSymphogear'': The antagonists of the final season are Noble Red, a trio of test subjects of the Bavarian Illuminati who have been turned into monsters. As the Bavarian Illuminati was dismantled the previous season, they have been on the run from the authorities and are outmatched by the Symphogear wielders in combat. The only reason they are one step ahead of the heroines is because [[spoiler:they are secretly working for Fudo Kazanari, who is RunningBothSides to acquire the power of Shem-ha for his own ends as he sabotages the heroines to prevent them from finding out his plan. Noble Red only stops being underdogs after Fudo betrays them, as their new mistress Shem-ha kills them only to resurrect them on the spot as far stronger beings than they were before at the cost of their humanity]].

* ''WesternAnimation/TheOwlHouse'': As of Season 3, [[Characters/TheOwlHouseEmperorBelos Emperor Belos]] has become this. After his initial plan to slaughter all life in the Demon Realm was stopped due to the actions of the Hexsquad resulting in the Collector being freed to both end the Draining Spell and smash Belos to pieces, he is left as just a small piece of sludge. Over the months between "King's Tide" and "Thanks to Them", Belos spends time consuming Earth animals to reconstitute himself before possessing Hunter and fully restoring his body while making a Portal back the Demon Realm. He then realizes that due to the damage the Collector inflected, his body is still collapsing and thus Belos enacts a plan to grant himself a new body, hoping to possess a Grimwalker and later the Collector themself due to all of his resources habing been lost. When the first fails, Belos possesses a Puppeted Raine and attempts the latter, switching to merely {{gaslighting}} the Collector when the latter also fails, ironically putting him back in the place of primary threat to the heroes.
