* ''Literature/TheKingBeyondTheGate'' features a band of psychic {{Warrior Monk}}s called The Thirty. Decado, despite having no psychic abilites whatsoever, becomes (against his will) the Voice of The Thirty [[TheChosenOne because all the usual signs indicate that he should]]. He does an excellent job despite this setback, in one scene winning a duel with a psychic opponent (capable of reading his mind to predict attacks) [[BadAss because he was simply so quick that it didn't matter]]. And then [[TookALevelInBadass he actually does gain]] [[EmpoweredBadassNormal psychic abilities towards the end of the book]].

* [[Videogame/EarthBound Jeff]] has no psychic powers, but has a genius's IQ and [[{{Macgyver}} MacGyvering]] skills to compensate. Also, he's the only one who can wield fireworks as weapons.

* Stiles in ''Series/TeenWolf'' is a normal albeit bright, human civilian amonst werewolves (Scott, Derek and Isaac), a kitsune (Kira), werecoyote (Malia) and banshee (Lydia). Even Allison, the only other human in the pack, is a werewolf hunter, and therefore just as combat capable as any other creatures so Stiles isn't even a TokenHuman.
* {{Arrow}}: In Season 4 Laurel becomes the Team Wannabe version of this trope, as she tries to join Team Arrow but as a civilian lawyer and occasional damsel she lacks the vigilante skills of Oliver (master archer and spent five years surviving hell on earth), Diggle (special forces veteran), Felicity (world class hacker) and Roy (street kid and trained under Oliver).

case of TheTeamNormal rather than TokenHuman. He does however, more than proves his worth as the smart guy of the gang. (It also helps that as [[{{UndyingLoyalty}} Scott's best friend]] he was technically the first member of the Mccall pack anyway.)
* {{Arrow}}: ''{{Arrow}}'': In Season 4 Laurel becomes the Team Wannabe version of this trope, as trope when she tries to join Team Arrow but as Arrow. As a civilian lawyer and occasional damsel she lacks the vigilante skills of Oliver (master archer and spent five years surviving hell on earth), Diggle (special forces veteran), Felicity (world class hacker) and Roy (street kid who is skilled in parkour and trained under Oliver). In-universe the team let her stick around because she's Oliver's ex-girlfriend and [[spoiler: she's trying to replace her dead sister Sara who was a martial arts expert.]]

* Downplayed in ''Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaStrikers'' since EveryoneIsASuper. Teana has, at best, slightly above average magical potential and is on a team consisting of people with unique abilities and some of the most powerful mages in the multiverse. This does not help her already fragile self confidence.

* TheTeamWannabe: Some just wants to be in the group, but lacking powers is often the reason they aren't allowed in yet.
** TheTeam has a TagalongKid who tries to help it but more often becomes TheLoad. There can be several InUniverse reasons for why this power-less character is included, but often [[EnforcedTrope the out of universe reason]] is to appeal to the kids watching (when those kids are watching for the superheroes in the first place). This character often becomes TheScrappy unless they get significant CharacterDevelopment.
