* In season 2 of ''WesternAniation/StevenUniverse'', Connie starts learning how to swordfight, with the explicit goal of helping Steven and the Gems protect the planet. She uses Rose's sword, but the sword itself isn't magic at all. While she can [[FusionDance fuse with Steven]] to become the BadassAbnormal Stevonnie, she herself doesn't have any supernatural powers. She's just a regular human sword with a big-ass sword.

* ''Literature/TheKingBeyondTheGate'' features a band of psychic {{Warrior Monk}}s called The Thirty. Decado, despite having no psychic abilites whatsoever, becomes (against his will) the Voice of The Thirty [[TheChosenOne because all the usual signs indicate that he should]]. He does an excellent job despite this setback, in one scene winning a duel with a psychic opponent (capable of reading his mind to predict attacks) [[BadAss because he was simply so quick that it didn't matter]]. And then [[TookALevelInBadass he actually does gain]] [[EmpoweredBadassNormal psychic abilities towards the end of the book]].

* Stiles in ''Series/TeenWolf'' is a normal - albeit bright - human civilian among all manner of supernatural creatures including werewolves (Scott, Derek and Isaac), a kitsune (Kira), werecoyote (Malia) and banshee (Lydia). Even Allison, the only other human in the pack, is a werewolf hunter, and therefore just as combat capable as any other creatures so Stiles it's a case of TheTeamNormal rather than TokenHuman. He does however, more than proves his worth as the smart guy of the gang. (It also helps that as [[UndyingLoyalty Scott's best friend]] he was technically the first member of the Mccall pack anyway.)

* ''Film/TheAvengers2012'' have two: Black Widow and Hawkeye. Mostly Black Widow, as Hawkeye at least has ImprobableAimingSkills and [[TrickArrow Trick Arrows]]. Though, Black Widow ''does'' have minor super soldier abilities in the main Marvel Universe and the Ultimate Universe version, which the film draws on, is explicitly super powered, and Natasha ''does'' do some pretty impossible stunts and can stay on track with Captain America, so she may have some unmentioned skills.
** On the other hand, Hawkeye is a soldier, Black Widow is a spy and assassin. She's still extremely capable, but her skillset is aimed less towards straight-up combat and more towards infiltration. Which makes her even more awesome.

* ''Series/{{Arrow}}'': In Season 4 Laurel becomes the Team Wannabe version of this trope when she tries to join Team Arrow. As a civilian lawyer and occasional damsel she lacks the vigilante skills of Oliver (master archer and spent five years surviving hell on earth), Diggle (special forces veteran), Felicity (world class hacker) and Roy (street kid who is skilled in parkour and trained under Oliver). In-universe, despite wishing she'd leave them alone, the team let her stick around because she's Oliver's ex-girlfriend and [[spoiler: she's a mess after the death of her sister, who was a former member of the team.]]

* Downplayed in ''Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaStrikers'' since EveryoneIsASuper. Teana has, at best, slightly above average magical potential and is on a team consisting of people with unique abilities and some of the most powerful mages in the multiverse. This does not help her already fragile self confidence. [[TheSmartGuy She]] [[TheAce gets]] [[TookALevelInBadass better]].
