* Since ''VideoGame/ChronoCross'' doesn't use traditional RPG levels, it's a bit quirky about how the characters improve themselves -- winning fights gradually increases a character's hit points, until they finally acquire some higher stats along with HP, ending their current tier of growth. When a star is earned, they get a few more stat boosts upfront, and then the process restarts, gradually awarding HP before a final stat boost. Any benched characters miss out on this extra growth if you don't bring them into battle between stars, so if you want to maximize the crew's potential, prepare for a lot of extra fights as you rotate party members out.

* ''TabletopGame/RollForShoes'': This is the main way of obtaining new stats. The players start off with only one roll they can do; "do anything", which has a single [=d6=]. However, if they roll all sixes, whatever thing they were rolling for becomes a new, specific stat, with an additional [=d6=] to roll for it. For example, if the player tries to fly, and gets a six in "do anything", they get a new flight stat, where they can roll [=2d6=] instead of a single [=d6=].
