When you have a cold, your inflamed sinuses and clogged nose will dampen your senses of smell and taste, and a few days of this (the typical cold lasts for a five to ten days) will mean that your suddenly restored senses upon healing may be sensitive thanks to the whole ordeal they've just been though. This is also similar to the pin-and-needles feeling a body part like a leg or a hand gets if blood flow is cut off and than restored; the nerve-endings are going wild trying to make sense of what just happened.
