If the series is Dale Brown or something fix it, but have a pothole when you add an example. A Red Link is better than no link and it encourages people to Blue Shift it.

The main reason the project was never completed was because the Atomic Bomb was finished first, and we know which is more devastating. I also recall hearing of an incident where the bats escaped and took refuge in buildings all across the military base where they were held, caused some hefty damage, and thank god the atomic bomb didn't accidentally go off on a friendly base.

These devices have a lot of controversy around them in real life. The reasoning is much like the movement to ban antipersonnel mines, the probability that unexploded, small munitions will maim or kill civilians both during and after the conflicts in which they are used. An international treaty is now in effect to ban air-dropped cluster munitions, and a large number of industrialized nations are signatories, but the biggest military powers (US, Russia, China, Israel) have rejected it.

* Shaped Charge and Smart Explosively Forged Projectiles in ''{{GURPS}}: Ultra-Tech'' fly over the target before using the explosive force of the warhead to create a flaming armor piercing spike.
* The Manticore Multiple Rocket Launcher from ''{{Warhammer 40000}}'' has as its most common armament a rack of 4 (and ''only'' 4) Storm Eagle rockets. A Manticore may only fire one Storm Eagle per turn, and each Storm Eagle breaks into a barrage of 1-3 mini-rockets once the main Storm Eagle reaches the apex of its trajectory. Due to their tempramental nature, Manticores are sometimes distrusted by commanders, but having that kind of potential in firepower makes up for it.

* The [[GiantSpider Giant]] SpiderTank fires missiles into the air as a LastDitchMove in ''RazingStorm''. The missiles start homing in, then shoot out ''[[MacrossMissileMassacre even more homing missiles]]'' which are homing too. ** Actually the plan was to strap the bats with incendary bombs and used them on Japan due to the fact that most Japanese buildings are mainly made of wood. Also the bombs were timed. The main reason the project was never completed was because the Atomic Bomb was finished first, and we know which is more devastating. I also recall hearing of an incident where the bats escaped and took refuge in buildings all across the military base where they were help, caused some hefty damage, and thank god the atomic bomb didn't accidentally go off on a friendly base.

*** FreeSpace features Subspace Missiles too - but that's a bit different. You send a Tag'ing missile (or eventually paint the target with a laser) - which spawn plenty of missiles from subspace to crash on it.
