* The Polish ub of ''WesternAnimation/WinnieThePooh'' was released three months after Rabbit's voice actor, Ryszard Nawrocki died.

* Creator/EdAsner passed away on August 29th, 2021, three days before the premiere of ''WesternAnimation/DugDays'' where he reprises his role as [[WesternAnimation/{{Up}} Carl Fredricksen]].

* Similar to the above example, the 2013 Disney animated short ''WesternAnimation/GetAHorse'' (shown before ''WesternAnimation/{{Frozen}}'') had Creator/WaltDisney, Marcelite Garner, and Billy Bletcher reprising their roles as WesternAnimation/MickeyMouse, WesternAnimation/MinnieMouse, and WesternAnimation/{{Pete}} for the short. While the short almost relied entirely on archive audio, Creator/RussiTaylor was brought in to record three lines for Minnie Mouse. Pete's non-recycled dialogue for the short was also provided by Will Ryan.

* Tomiko Suzuki voiced Jirachi in ''Anime/PokemonJirachiWishmaker'', which was released 12 days after she suffered a fatal heart attack.

* Creator/PhilHartman recorded for the English dub of ''Anime/KikisDeliveryService''. He received a posthumous credit when the movie was released to VHS a few months after his wife killed him in a murder-suicide.

* Creator/TakeshiShudo, who wrote ''Anime/PokemonTheFirstMovie'', is credited as a writer for both ''Anime/PokemonIChooseYou'' and ''Anime/MewtwoStrikesBackEvolution'', despite having died in 2010.

* Mia Ikumi, who died of a hemorrhage in March 2022, is credited for her work on ''[[Anime/TokyoMewMew Tokyo Mew Mew New]]'', as she wrote the manga the show is an adaptation of.

* Creator/NatalieWood died on November 29, 1981. The film she was appearing in at the time, ''Film/{{Brainstorm}}'', came out in 1983.

* ''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy'': Creator/CarrieFisher had the recurring role of Angela until she suddenly passed away in December 2016. According to Creator/SethMacFarlane, she recorded dialogue for at least two more episodes but had yet to decide what should happen to Angela afterwards. [[TheCharacterDiedWithHim Angela was killed off]], having died from swimming too soon after eating.

* Creator/EdAsner passed away on August 29th, 2021. Three days before the premiere of ''WesternAnimation/DugDays'' where he reprises his role as [[WesternAnimation/{{Up}} Carl Fredricksen]].

* ''WesternAnimation/MickeyAndTheRoadsterRacers'' had this happen with Russi Taylor as Minnie Mouse. "Hi, Jinx!", which featured her performance, was the first episode to air after her death.
** The sequel series ''WesternAnimation/MickeyMouseFunhouse'' had Will Ryan reprise his role as Willie the Giant in "Bottled Up!", which aired on December 3, 2021. Ryan died on November 19, 2021, a few weeks before.

* The ''WesternAnimation/SpongebobSquarepants'' episode ''[[Recap/SpongeBobSquarePantsS9E2PatrickManGarysNewToy Patrick-Man!]]'' came out 4 months after Creator/ErnestBorgnine's passing on July 8th, 2012 making this Mermaid Man's final speaking role.

* Lynne Thigpen's character on ''Series/TheDistrict'' died of cancer during the airing of season 3. She continued to appear throughout the season, with the finale being dedicated to her.

* ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWars'' makes a point of crediting deceased seiyuu whenever TheOtherDarrin isn't at play. For example, prior to Creator/KenNarita taking over the role of Bright Noa in ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamUnicorn'', Creator/HirotakaSuzuoki was still credited for Bright's lines in the various games of the series.
** Notably, this only happens when the participating series itself uses TheOtherDarrin; otherwise SRW will use previously recorded clips and '''doesn't''' recast roles. Creator/ChiekoHonda is still credited whenever [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamZZ Elpeo Ple and/or Ple Two]] appear in games and Creator/YukoMizutani is still [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsCompact2 Excellen Browning]].

** Lynne Thigpen's character on ''Series/TheDistrict'' died of cancer, with the season three finale dedicated to her.

* Creator/NormMacDonald died on September 14, 2021 from acute leukemia. He voiced a secondary character named Yaphit on ''Series/TheOrville'' (the character was entirely CGI except for a single scene where [=MacDonald=] appeared in person). The actor completed his scenes for the first episode of season 3, but Yaphit is absent for the rest of the season. The episode was dedicated to the actor.
** Similarly, Creator/LisaBanes was killed in a hit-and-run on June 14, 2021, after completing her scenes for two episodes of season 3 and was likewise mentioned in a dedication.

* Several ''Series/SesameStreet'' sketches featuring Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch being performed by Caroll Spinney premiered well after he had died. This is caused by the show being prone to reusing older segments in new episodes and most episodes being filmed a year in advance. Subverted with [[https://muppet.fandom.com/wiki/Episode_5022 the last episode he worked on]] prior to retiring; he did the voices for his characters on the set and it aired four months after his death, but his vocals went unused in the final cut.
** Amazingly enough, subverted in regards to Creator/JimHenson's work on ''Sesame Street'': the final sketches he recorded as Kermit and Ernie, as well as one more he taped earlier, all aired by March 1990, two months before his passing. However, played straight in that both he and puppeteer Richard Hunt (who passed away in 1992) were credited among the ''Sesame Street'' puppeteers through 2001 and 2000, respectively.

* ''WesternAnimation/TheFoxAndTheHound'':
** Animator Cliff Nordberg died in 1979. This film, which was his last project for Disney, was released two years later.

* Ursula's voice actress Creator/PatCarroll passed away on July 30, 2022. The upcoming life-sim and adventure hybrid game ''Disney Dreamlight Valley'' will mark her final performance as [[WesternAnimation/TheLittleMermaid1989 Ursula]] since she managed to record a few bits of dialogue for the game.

* Creator/DonRickles, who voiced Toys/MrPotatoHead in the ''WesternAnimation/ToyStory'' series, died of kidney failure in April 2017, two years before the release of ''WesternAnimation/ToyStory4''. He had not recorded any new dialogue for the movie prior to his death, yet Creator/{{Pixar}} was reluctant to recast the role. With the blessing of Rickles's estate, a [[FakeShemp new performance]] was constructed using years' worth of unused recordings from Rickles portraying the character.
