* The UK stop motion series ''The Adventures of Portland Bill'' was about a lighthouse keeper named Portland Bill and his assistants Ross and Cromerty. Portland Bill is a narrow promontory off the coast of Dorset, and at the other end of the country, Ross and Cromerty is an area of the Scottish Highlands. Both have notable lighthouses. Most of the other characters had names that would be equally familiar to listeners of the Shipping Forecast.

* ''Manga/DetectiveConan'' has ThemeNaming all over the place, but Shinichi's surroundings are named after other places. He called himself the modern Literature/SherlockHolmes, and he lives in lot 2-21, Beika, Tokyo. Next to Beika we have Haido (Hyde Park), and the river that flows across the neighbourhoods is called Teimutsu (Thames). Is this still Tokyo, or is a London that happened to be inhabited by Japanese?
