A musical reimagining of the 1960 RogerCorman film ''TheLittleShopOfHorrors, made by Howard Ashman and AlanMenken, which debuted in 1982, loosely adapted from Corman's film. The musical was subsequently turned into a [[TheMovie film]] in 1986 starring Rick Moranis in his [[OverlyNarrowSuperlative last singing role]], which [[LongRunner in turn]] inspired a [[RecursiveAdaptation revival of the musical]]. It is Frank Oz's first movie he directed without JimHenson and his first outside of the Muppet label, and would start his line of subsequent comedy films.

Make as many edits to my description as you want. But don\'t remove the trope. At least it\'s not in the heading or anything.

It didn\'t have the truly bad stuff from the stage play, even before the ending was changed, and the lack of Seymour doing the really bad things was likely what made people think that ending was undeserved.

The film version follows the stage version fairly closely except for a notorious KarmaHoudini FocusGroupEnding in which the Audrey II is defeated and Seymour and Audrey survive to live [[StepfordSuburbia happily ever after]].

I Thought It Meant refers to things that are NOT related. If you think that is the case here, you did not do the research.

* AndTheFandomRejoiced: Just shy of twenty-five years after the film's release, Frank Oz revealed in an interview in late October 2011 that [[WordOfGod a Blu-Ray version of Little Shop of Horrors (which would contain a Blu-Ray and DVD version) was in the works]]. Contained in this BD-DVD would be [[ReCut the original version of the film with the original ending intact]] and presumably colorized in some way (whether it be through the Ted Turner method or it be the color ending Producer David Geffen supposedly owns). This version of the film, tentatively titled Little Shop of Horrors: The Intended Cut by the MPAA [[UpToEleven (implying more than just the ending will be changed to fit Oz's original vision)]], is scheduled for release in late October of 2012. And it will be awesome.

** Mushnik has an oddly meta example this. In the [[TheLittleShopOfHorrors original b-movie]], he tricked a would-be robber into getting eaten by the plant by telling him the shop's money was inside it. The musical lifted the situation with practically the same dialogue, but used it to kill off Mushnik.
