* In the beginning of Anime/WonderfulPrettyCure, the Garugaru seem to appear completely independently from any actual villains, as opposed to getting summoned or created by a minion of the season's BigBad. That is, until episode 7, where a shadowy figure is briefly shown commanding a lion Garugaru. All that can be seen of him is a pair of glowing red eyes and a wolf's snout; the rest is concealed underneath a hooded cloak. To add to this character's mysterious nature, he's only listed as "???" in the episode's credits.

* ComicBook/TeenTitans: ComicBook/Raven loves the hood; it somehow conceals her face just as well as a mask but without that pesky glue. It even stays on when she flies. The cartoon provides a possible explanation for this by giving her telekinesis, a power she lacks in the comics.
