** Series 7 had a task that required one to build a tower of cardboard boxes. You had 10 minutes total, but the moment you assembled a box, the clock dropped to 5 minutes remaining. So it behooved one to do as much as possible before assembling a box. Phil Wang makes all his boxes without closing them on one side and argues they aren't boxes because they're still open, but brainfarts and compares it to a car in a way that outright ''devastates'' his own argument. Greg calls him on it during the on-stage segment and practically references this trope word-for-word.
---> '''Alex:''' So those are definitely not open boxes?
---> '''Phil:''' No. Well, uh, an open box is not a ''complete'' box. You know, like when you open a car door and it's not... technically a car... until the door's closed...
---> '''Alex:''' ([[AsideGlance stares bemused at the camera]])
---> '''Greg:''' C'mon, Phil. That was a box. Yeah it was a box, mate You were hoisted by your own car analogy and you know it!

* ''Series/{{Taskmaster}}'' had the task "Strike the most drum skins and cymbals with a single throw of a bouncy ball" in Series 15. Mae Martin decided to be a bit cheeky by tying a string to the ball, "throwing" it once, and then dangling it about to hit the drums as many times as they liked. This sparks an argument on-stage about whether they "threw" the ball or not, as Alex's definition of throwing is "to propel something through the air with force by a movement of the arm and hand," and even Greg is unsure what to make of it. After much more arguing, Frankie Boyle argues that, to throw something and jerk it back is a "cast" not a "throw", and the rest of the contestants all unanimously agree. Alex looks ''that'' up and finds that the definition of a "cast" is "to move or send forth by '''throwing'''" which convinces Greg, unambiguously, that what Mae did was technically a "throw" and awards them 5 points. Had Frankie and the rest of the contestants not tried to argue it was a cast, odds are Greg would have at least docked points from Mae, and maybe even have disqualified them.
--> '''Greg:''' '''OOOOOOOOHHHH!!!''' That's it! I'm letting them get away with it!

** Series 9 had the task "Get an entire egg into one of those metal things." There were a bunch of "metal things" all about the area, each labeled with numbers, get an egg in one to earn that many points, it's worth double if the egg isn't broken, and only the highest single score is counted. Rose Matafeo noticed the table the eggs were sitting on was held up by "a metal thing" and dumped all of her eggs in it. Little did she know, it was a trap left by Alex and it was labelled ''negative 5'' on the side, earning her an overall -10. Greg wastes no time taunting her for thinking she could outmaneuver [[CrazyPrepared Alex]].
---> '''Greg:''' Did you ''really'' think you could out-fox Alex Horne? Making these tasks up is literally all he has in his life, and that is a quote ''from his wife''.

* In early 1998, Wrestling/TripleH was to defend the European title against Wrestling/OwenHart. Instead, Wrestling/{{Goldust}} came out dressed as Hunter for the match, with Owen beating him. DX had a good laugh backstage until Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter came out and declared that because Goldust had done such a good job impersonating Hunter, he was counting this as a legit title defense, and thus, Owen was now the European champion. Cue Hunter's outrage at losing the belt in a match he wasn't even in.
