Also known as Sexy Bait, this is a common tactic to catch LeadIn audiences. So, you're sitting around the flat with your mates. Your favorite show has just finished and you decide to see what's on next. The next show starts, you get a couple of seconds in and...

"I say, she's walking around in her underwear. This might be interesting."

This is the visual equivalent of a poster that screams, "SEX!!! Now that we have your attention..."

Also applies in advertising. The TropeNamer is, of course, the famous Eva Herzigova Wonderbra advert.

See also SexSells.

IThoughtItMeant Not to be confused with to Australian DoubleAct Roy and HG's commentary on the 2000 Olympics' men's floor exercises competition.

!!Examples:

* On this very page, appropriately enough.

* In a completely hilarious (but unintended) example, this is part of the story behind MahouSenseiNegima, due mainly to ExecutiveMeddling. The author wanted to do an action series, but the publishers wanted another harem manga. Thus he did a action manga hidden behind a harem plot...and it worked out this way. Hey, if the trope fits...
* The pilot episode special of MacrossFrontier (known as the Deculture edition) features a Fold-distorted AnimeAnatomy naked Sheryl Nome sleeping in a chair in the first ten seconds. Technically she's wearing clothing, but you should be paying attention to the fold after image.

* An advert looking for Assistant Managers and Managers at Ann Summers in 2009 had a women from the waist up, side on, wearing nothing but nipple tassels and partly covering her breasts with a feathery fan.
* Perfume adverts, such as KeiraKnightley's Coco Chanel one.
* Almost every single advert for new shows on NetworkTen in Australia, to the point that "sexy" can be considered synonymous with "good writing".
* The Evony ads with the big breasted woman saying "Start your journey now, my lord". Said game uses graphics pilfered from another game and features no human characters. This sort of advertising has become upsettingly prolific as of late, especially for games that don't have human graphics.
* VideoGame/PlantsVsZombies put out at least one ad which parodies the Evony ads, featuring the line "Save your lover" next to a lipstick and tiara wearing female zombie, followed by the phrase "Play now my lord!" Another tower defense game, Bloons Tower Defense, had a similar parody with three balloons and a wig.
* As did the otherwise-forgettable online card game Alteil, featuring some sexy card artwork and the line "She is actually in our game, my lord!"
* The ad for Perfect World International qualifies, featuring a woman in form-fitting armor only marginally less revealing than a chainmail bikini.
* Shaiya's marketing is entirely centered around wispy goddesses in diaphanous robes posing next to each other. In-game, they're opposed for some light/darkness-based reason. The wiki has no background on them--their profile pages are just full-body pictures.

* InnocentBlood opens with the main character reading a newspaper stark naked. She walks around while doing so. Then she gets dressed and the plot begins.
* In the film of RaymondChandler's TheLongGoodbye, Marlowe's neighbors are fond of doing nude yoga on the balcony.
* CoyoteUgly was rather infamous for its commercials pulling this. The movie was actually a chick flick.
* Jaws gets your attention quick by having its first victim be a skinny-dipping girl.
* In Blazing Saddles, Governor [=LePetomaine=] uses this exact phrase when being... distracted from affairs of state.
* TransformersDarkOfTheMoon almost introduces RosieHuntingtonWhiteley in this manner, though she's also doing a SexyShirtSwitch.

* An episode of season 7 BuffyTheVampireSlayer, "Dirty Girls", started with an erotic dream of Xander's, which began with three of the Potentials coming on to him and continued to him spying the rest of them in a sexy pillow fight. The rest of the episode would then subvert the trope by pointing out how men objectify women. Sexy Bait And Switch, or typical JossWhedon response to modern convention? YOU decide!
* Series/Alias, episode "Phase One". Opening shot is Jennifer Garner in her underwear, holding a whip. But why describe it when you can just look at the trope pic?
* Just like Alias, which was also on ABC, GreysAnatomy opened on a girls-in-a-soapy-shower DreamSequence in "It's The End Of The World As We Know It," also right after the Super Bowl.
* CSIMiami, a lot.
* In one CSINewYork episode, we open on a SlumberParty at a NoTellMotel, with young women in their underwear having bikini waxes, followed by a man and woman getting frisky, the former ripping open the latter's jacket to reveal a blue bikini top. Neither of these groups have any real relevance to the plot.
* Although it's partly mitigated by the "corpse flash" that starts the act, the NCIS episode "Model Behaviour" opens on a pan of two women lying in beds wearing nothing but sexy panties and a midriff-revealing green T-shirt. The third bed is empty, mainly because the person meant to be in it is dead.
** Similarly, the sixth season opener begins with a slow pan up Cote de Pablo revealing a lot of sexy back in a lovely blue dress. Then singing in French. EverythingSoundsSexierInFrench.
* HomeImprovement with the Tool Time girls, whose main job was to introduce the show, and bring out tools, and be eye candy.
* An episode of Monk had him investigate the murder of a model of a Playboy-esque magazine. The mag started as a science journal.
* Dollhouse frequently shows the main character, Echo, in various sexy outfits and situations while on assignment in the first 5-10 minutes of the show. Perhaps the most blatant example was her dominatrix outfit in "Spy in the House of Love".
* Arguably, the smallest bikini in Baywatch was in the first episode. The wearer was called out for wearing something too small to put a lifeguard badge on.
* The Series/Reimagined remake miniseries/pilot episode begins with Caprica Six in a stunning red dress kissing a navy officer. Within about 10 minutes she's shown again in practically see-through clothing, and a few seconds after that half-naked and having sex with Baltar (from behind though. Not the sex, the camera angle). It worked.
* The Charmed opening credits (notably the fifth and sixth seasons) would make full use of showing shots of the sisters looking as sexy as possible. If the girls were ever in a Stripperrific costume, chances are it'd be in the credits. Noticeable is Phoebe as a mermaid (with a couple of scales covering her nipples) jumping out of the water, and a slow-motion shot of all the sisters turned into Valkyries.

* The video for The Chemical Brothers' "Believe" starts with a shot of five women in their underwear dancing. It turns out to be the protagonist looking at a screen in an electronics shop, and the rest of the video is about him being chased by robots.

* Many "male lifestyle" magazines.
** Esquire
** Maxim
** Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue
** Car and Science magazines
** FHM and the Filipino version of Playboy.

* A semi-official advertisement for Touhou: Subterranean Animism featured the third boss in a Stripperiffic skimpy kimono that was halfway to falling off. Her actual in-game outfit is a t-shirt and a long (though translucent) skirt.
* Lampshaded in the infamous "She kicks high" commercial for DeadOrAlive.

* lonelygirl15 had an episode called "Backyard Bikini Patrol". The thumbnail was Emma in a bikini. The first woman you see on screen is Sarah, also in a bikini. I have the sneaking suspicion that they may have been trying to attract more views with that one...

* Can also occur in other media, such as this wiki. You know that at one point you've looked up a series solely because an example on a FanService or FetishFuel page caught your attention.
** Or looked up a trope just from the title...
** Awww, true dat!!!
