No evidence it did poorly in syndication. The manga was licensed, it had a PC game, and it got a Thanksgiving marathon in 1996. That doesn’t happen to a show that failed

** ''Anime/DragonBallZ'': The original Creator//[=FUNimation=]/Ocean co-production was also created for syndication. Considering the early time slots it got in many markets, the show did quite well (good enough to warrant a full hour-long block during season 2). Despite this, distributor Saban eventually backed out of the syndication business , leading to [=FUNimation=] to make a deal with Cartoon Network to air the show there, which turned out to be a huge success, and this was enough to warrant a continuation of the English dub.

* ''Manga/SailorMoon'': Very similar scenario to ''Dragon Ball Z'', since the English dub (by Creator/DiC) was originally created for syndication[[note]]Prior to its premiere, it was given a preview showing on Creator/FoxKids, which originally was planning to air [[WesternAnimation/ToonMakersSailorMoon a completely different Sailor Moon series]].[[/note]], before finding fame through Toonami. Although unlike ''Dragon Ball Z'', the show didn't do very well in syndication, due to the terrible time slots it was given in most markets.

Fixing errors . BLT co-produced the 95 Dragon Ball dub not Ocean. Saban did not co-produce DBZ they just distributed it as part of their Syndicated Saban Kids Block. Funimation also didn’t abandon the product the show was just put on hiatus until Cartoon Network agreed to order more episodes.
