* The [[http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1550595/Thanfiction [=DAYD=]verse]], a darker take on Franchise/HarryPotter started by Thanfiction and expanded upon, with the primary protagonist being Neville Longbottom. Starts with a [[FanFic/DumbledoresArmyAndTheYearOfDarkness parallel story]] to ''Literature/HarryPotterAndTheDeathlyHallows'' and continues with the second of three books called "Sluagh," as well as numerous one-shots, missing scenes, and character profiles.

* The now-defunct ''Roleplay/GlobalGuardiansPBEMUniverse'' was the largest SharedUniverse ''TabletopGame/{{Champions}}'' FanVerse on the net.

** On the subject of ''Franchise/HarryPotter'' fic, the ''FanFic/{{Dangerverse}}'' arguably qualifies. Started by whydoyouneedtoknow (and yes, that is a ''WesternAnimation/TheIncredibles'' reference), the story reimagines the canon. At last count the mainline story was at 1.18 million words and counting. As with the Dumbledore's Armyverse, there are numerous one-shots, missing scenes, and numerous AlternateUniverse fics by the author. At last count there were at least four alternate universes written by other authors.

* The [[WhatCouldHaveBeen original, darker]] concept for ''Disney/{{Zootopia}}'', where prejudice against predators was so strong that preds were forced to wear {{shock collar}}s, was popular enough with fans to inspire a host of fan works set in "Zoodystopia".

* ''Fanfic/PokemonLightAU'' is a series of dark'' Pokémon Sword and Shield'' fics that begin after Gloria is DrivenToSuicide.

* [[https://jusenkyo.fandom.com/wiki/The_Altered_Destinies The Altered Destinies]] is huge series of AlternateUniverseFic that look into alternative histories for the characters from ''Manga/RanmaOneHalf''. The reason it is so big is that it is actually made up of a number of {{Fan Verse}}s including some in ThisVeryWiki. [[note]]Wild Horses and Pokegirls[[/note]] In fact due to its size even the author’s aren’t entirely sure which fanfics are a part of it. [[note]] Jim Bader admitted that he wasn’t aware of Fred Herriot’s work and Thy Inward Love is technically apart of it due to being crossover with The Bitter End.[[/note]]

* ''Roleplay/WhatHappenedInOregon'' and ''Roleplay/WhatHappenedInEdmonton'' are set in the Oregonverse, a timeline inspired by the ''Literature/Steelheart'' novels. The main difference is the setting, with different parts of the world being explored and minor variations in how the mechanics of the [[WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity Epic corruption]] works.

* The [[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2050803/1/Arthur_Goes_Fourth Arthur Goes Fourth]] fan-verse. Yes, an ''WesternAnimation/{{Arthur}}'' fanverse. It has two spin-offs, each set in a different grade.

** The Fanfic/TheCadanceverse, inspired by the [[Fanfic/RainbowDoubleDashsLunaverse Lunaverse]], is another collaborative alternate universe created by one of the Lunaverse's top contributors.

** The [[Fanfic/RainbowDoubleDashsLunaverse Lunaverse]] inspired Fanfic/TheCadanceverse, another collaborative alternate universe created by one of the Lunaverse's top contributors.

* ''FanFic/FalloutEquestria'', a ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'' crossover with ''VideoGame/{{Fallout}}''. To put this in perspective, the original story alone is, at 608,000 words, [[DoorStopper nearly fifty thousand words longer than]] ''Literature/WarAndPeace'', and the RecursiveFanfiction ''FanFic/FalloutEquestriaProjectHorizons'' (which has in turn spawned its own recursive fics) has ''over a million words''.
* Fanfic/RainbowDoubleDashsLunaverse is another ''My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic'' Fanverse. A collaborative effort, it has already finished a "season" and a "movie", and is now working on Season 2.
** The Lunaverse in turn inspired Fanfic/TheCadanceverse, another collaborative alternate universe created by one of the Lunaverse's top contributors.

* ''Fanfic/BodyguardAU'' is a fan-verse where Queen/Princess Rarity has a mutual crush on her bodyguard Twilight Sparkle.

* ''Fanfic/BodyguardAU'' is a fan-verse where Queen/Princess Rarity has a mutual crush o her bodyguard Twilight Sparkle.

* ''Fanfic/ReverseRWBY'' is a ''RWBY'' role-reversal where Emerald, Mercury, Roman, Neo, Watts, Tyrian, Cinder, and Hazel are hunters training at Beacon.

* ''The Powerpuff Girls Declassified Universe'' is a fan-verse of dark ''WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls'' reimaginings starting with ''Fanfic/ProjectPowerpuffDeclassified''

** Ani-Earth is a completely different story altogether - it was a series of stories by another author that started out as a simple crossover between SonicTheHedgehog and Anime/TenchiMuyo and spiraled out of control there!

* In the early days of the ''SonicTheHedgehog'' cartoons (specifically ''WesternAnimation/SonicSatAM''), several {{Big Name Fan}}s, such as Bookshire Draftwood and Dan Drazen, did this. In fact, they did it in such a way that their own verses could theoretically fit into each other's with little difficulty. These {{Fan Verse}}s got so large and popular that dozens of other writers over the years contributed with episodic stories that could also slip right in, culminating in a pretty massive web with hundreds of connected stories.

When fanfiction writers do several (not just a few, ''several'') fics for the same fandom in the same continuity as each other, that's a Fan Verse. {{Worldbuilding}} counts a lot toward this label, as well.

** ''Fanfic/TranscendenceAU'' is a verse that sprung up overnight and is currently growing exponentially. In it, Dipper ends getting possessed as a last-ditch effort by a dying Bill Cipher, and although Dipper is able to fight Bill off and kill him, he fused with the leftovers and became a demon, albeit one with an unusually strong connection to the physical world and no upper cap on his power level. It also caused Gravity Falls' weirdness to spread out over the world in an event known as the Transcendence. Dipper's demonic upgrade makes him [[CompleteImmortality immortal]], and he spends the next several million years trying to hold onto his humanity and watching over the descendants and reincarnations of his loved ones, [[DownerEnding until his suicide after the heat death of the universe.]] It's a bit unusual in that there's no central fic. There's a blog, and the mods of the blog are the authorities on what is or isn't canon for the verse (particularly Mod Z, or Zilleniose on Tumblr), but in general the verse's canon is pretty loose and open to contribution from anyone, which is probably one of the reasons why it's growing at the frankly astounding rate that it is. Seriously, there are several new pages of content every day.
** ''Fanfic/ReverseFallsAU'', in which Gideon Gleeful and Pacifica Northwest are the heroes and Dipper and Mabel Pines are the villains (with Bill Cipher as their wimpy bound demon servant).

* In the ''WesternAnimation/StarVsTheForcesOfEvil'' fandom, the ShipToShipCombat that sprung up in the aftermath of [[WhamEpisode "Bon Bon the Birthday Clown"]] inspired the [[http://moringmark.tumblr.com/post/153409664078 Ship War AU]] (AKA "Diaz Half-Siblings"), inspired by [[http://moringmark.tumblr.com/post/153384123168 this fan comic]] where Star and Marco's KidFromTheFuture butts heads with Jackie and Marco's kid from an alternate future over which mother will be the one with whom their father ends up.

* ''WesternAnimation/TheLoudHouse'' managed to build one based around the popular (if ''incredibly'' controversial) IncestYayShipping fandom known as ''Webcomic/SinKidsAU'', which chronicle the adventures of Lincoln's children fathered with his sisters and/or the various other females in the series, over various fanarts and fanfictions by different authors.

* The Pokemon fanfic ''Fanfic/PokemonResetBloodlines'' [[ExpandedUniverse has expanded with side stories]] [[SharedUniverse by both the original and several other writers]], covering a wide variety of characters with expanded backstory and lore in a new universe Ash Ketchum {{Peggy Sue}}d himself into. The continuity as a whole has now been dubbed as the ''Resetverse''.

* [[http://www.fanfiction.net/u/55667/Erico Eric "Erico" Lawson]]'s ''FanFic/{{Legacy of Metal}}'' consists of over a million words of ''VideoGame/MegaMan'' and ''VideoGame/MegaManX'' fanfic spanning nearly two centuries of history (2039-2222). Much of it expands on the plot points of ''[[FanFic/RockmanTheRobotWar Rockman: the Robot War]]'' in BroadStrokes as well. The author has posted [[http://www.themmnetwork.com/wiki/index.php?title=A_Call_to_Arms a timeline]] and [[http://www.capcom-unity.com/ericobard/blog/2008/10/07/mega_man_9_contest_when_even_a_kid_in_iowa_can_make_it retrospective descriptions of each fic]] (scroll down).

** ''Thy Outward Part'' is an AlternateUniverseFic where Ranma is locked in female form permanently in the wake of a different, more tragic outcome to the Chisuiton arc of the manga. Pushed away by a homophobic Akane, Ranma goes to college alone and unhappy, until she meets a young man who finds her attractive and wants to learn martial arts from her. Long thought to be "closed", this 'verse was recently revived when Lawson started writing stories in it again.

* ''[[https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/FanficRecs/SuzumiyaHaruhi The Continuance of Haruhi Suzumiya]]'' by Hejin57. This series branches directly off the anime adaptation of ''The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya''. Starting with ''The Attraction of Haruhi Suzumiya'', this story has already seen three completed sequels, and another already in the works. Set for six stories in total, this fanfic series easily qualifies as a {{fanverse}}. All the stories in the series are great, too!
* ''Manga/OnePiece'' has one in the [[Fanfic/CrewOfTheAxe Crew Of The Axe]] due to the main fanfic crossing over with several other fics, and those fics crossing over with more fics.
* The very NSFW fanverse Fanfic/{{Wild Horses and Pokegirls}} where Ranma is sent to a very twisted Pokemon altverse where, at some point in history, women were crossed with pokemon so that now, everyone has some level of poke DNA, and very few girls look human, especially after puberty. Those that do, don't usually stay that way for long. It's very much a fetish fanfic crossover, but it's been around for a long time and spawned many storylines, including multiple interactive "Choose Your Own Adventure" style stories

* Batman has an epic series known as the "Cat Tales" universe which some people think of as better than some of the published stuff. It has lots of awesomeness for many characters, but the main thread is attempting to create a realistic romance between Batman and Catwoman without sacrificing any of their characters' awesomeness. This is mixed in with liberal amounts of drama, humor, believable character development, and tons of great action. The first story is ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/224334/1/A_Girlrs_Gotta_Protect_Her_Reputation A Girl's Gotta Protect Her Reputation]].'' And best of all, the author is still going strong after 54 stories and ''nine years'' -- the first chapter of the first story was published on March 8, 2001. With ''regular updates'' every few weeks, no less!

* There is a fanfic version of the {{Marvel Universe}} that puts much more of an emphasis on lesser-known heroes and villains, such as the 1990s superhero ''Sleepwalker'', rather than mainstays such as Franchise/SpiderMan, the ComicBook/FantasticFour or ComicBook/CaptainAmerica, who usually guest star in the C-listers' own stories rather than get the main spotlight. Many aspects are also heavily reimagined, such as Gwen Stacy being alive and well as Peter Parker's one true love, and Mary Jane Watson developing her own spider-powers as Spider-Woman, with her own rogues gallery and supporting cast entirely separate from Peter's.
* There are several fanfics written by the same author using Creator/DCComics heroes set during the 1940s mixing elements of modern continuity with [[UsefulNotes/TheGoldenAgeOfComicBooks Golden Age]] tropes. WordOfGod says the basic impetus of this retro-style FanVerse was an excuse to write a story where [[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4540948/1/Superman_vs_Hitler Superman actually gets to punch out Hitler.]]

* The X-Men Continuity Saga is a large AU {{Fanedit}} series by multiple faneditors that seeks to make the Franchise/XMenFilmSeries consistent without time-travel retcons removing the classic trilogy from the timeline.

* FanFic/StarTraks - This is a parody FanVerse for Franchise/StarTrek, it covers TOS, TNG, and [=DS9=]. Also has an X-Files variant called TraksFiles.
