* Both invoked and defied in the Wano arc of ''Manga/OnePiece'': When Orochi sentences Oden and the Akazaya Nine to death, Oden requests that anyone who survives a certain amount of time be set free. Since the execution method was ''[[CookedToDeath boiling oil]]'', Orochi just think he's insane, but [[VillainTakesAnInterest Kaido is intrigued by his audacity]] and makes Orochi agree to one hour time limit. Oden proceeds to jump in the cauldron first, enduring the entire hour himself while use the plank as a platform to hold the others safely above the oil. Then Orochi brings out a firing squad, claiming he [[MovingTheGoalPost changed the execution method at the literal last minute]], so Oden throws the others to safety before being shot to death.
