* This troper is sure that someone, somewhere, in some game of DungeonsAndDragons has used the spell [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Shocking Grasp]] for this. Usually made by AcmeProducts or a competitor, these seem to appear everywhere in media. In fact, this trope is probably the only reason that people are even surprised by the real thing anymore, as no such thing as an actual shocking joy buzzer has ever been produced (it's a vibrating device instead).
