* Few undead in ''TabletopGame/DungeonsAndDragons'' are more terrifying than the Sons of Kyss, decaying, worm-ridden zombies. Unlike most undead, they don't shun the light or even care about the time of day; the 2nd edition ''Monster Manual'' says they easily hunt prey during broad daylight.

** Amonkhet is a sunny, [[FantasyCounterpartCulture Egypt-inspired]] world, where the horror comes from looking at what having Nicol Bolas as self-appointed GodEmperor has done to the place. For example, [[http://media.wizards.com/2017/dw466ytu5_akh/en_mqrKtwlFS3.png Oashra Cultivator]] is a gardener picking healthy-looking fruit in a bright, sunny area with flowers...who is talking remarkably casually about ''her own coming death''.

** ''VideoGame/ResidentEvilCodeVeronica has one half of the game set in the Antarctic, where Capcom remembered that since it's December, and therefore Summer in the southern hemisphere, it's constantly day out. Not that you'll notice since Chris and Claire are indoors almost the entire time.

* All scenes in ''VideoGame/TheWitchsHouse'' that are set outdoors [[spoiler:including the heart wrenching True Ending]] take place during the day, and the windows leading outside show sunlight immediately before [[spoiler:"Viola's" final encounter with "Ellen"]]. Time is confusing and ambiguous inside of the house, but outside, it's apparently been day throughout the entire course of the game.

* Most of ''VideoGame/CallOfDutyInfiniteWarfare'' is, like the rest of the series, a run and gun power fantasy. That makes the encounter on the 3 Vesta mining colony all that much more jarring. Sent fatally close to the sun and given a high rotational speed by a Set Def attack, the asteroid is a molten nightmare where the civilian population has been either burned to death by solar radiation or [[spoiler:slaughtered by worker and security drones that get to work committing mass murder every time the colony rotates back into sunlight]]. Nothing moves, except when it jumps to life to kill you.

** There are of course exceptions to this. Most army ant species will strike out to forage both day and night, with only a few species being completely nocturnal. They have no qualms about venturing out in broad daylight to chop up any other insect or small animal alive to cart back in pieces to their nests.

* Most climatic battles in ''Franchise/YuGiOh'' occur in a dark, frightening location, the darkness not always the natural type. However, the FinalBattle with Saiou in ''Franchise/YuGiOhGX'' zigzags it. While Judai duels Saiou indoors, the secondary plot occurs outside, on a brightly lit, pleasant spring day on the Duel Academy grounds.
