The UsefulNotes/LotusPosition is specifically designed to prevent the meditator from falling asleep by being comfortable enough to relax but still uncomfortable enough that they stay awake. It is not always enough, however, as the examples below attest.

This is difficult to happen in real life given that most meditative traditions have measures for it -- postures like LotusPosition are meant to be uncomfortable enough for the user not to fall asleep -- not to mention, as a general rule, if you fall asleep, you were meditating wrong. However, as many a novice can attest, it is still a possible event.
