Major divergences from the [=MonsterVerse's=] canon post-''King of the Monsters'' include: San's decapitated head continues to regenerate Ghidorah instead of becoming an UndeadAbomination skull following the movie's events, the Titans remain awake in the aftermath of ''King of the Monsters''[='=] DawnOfAnEra instead of returning to hibernation, and a couple characters such as Ren Serizawa are more heroic.

*** ''Fanfic/TheUnseenHunt'': An Earth-based AU where the Creatures of Grimm which the ''RWBY'' cast fight are interdimensional creatures with varying levels of sentience.

*** ''Fanfic/ArcRoyale'': The universe this fic takes place in is seemingly identical to canon... up until during the time skip between Volumes 1 and 2, when the Brother Gods dump dozens of alternate Jaune's [[IntraFranchiseCrossover originating from Coeur Al'Aran's other fics' AUs into it]] and they announce to both the heroes and villains that the rules of the war driving the entire franchise have been changed.

** A lot of the ''Literature/{{Twilight}}'' fanfiction is based on what if the vampires were all human. The authors of these stories pluck the character names and archetypes from the source and plop them in other places, times and situations. Notably, ''Literature/FiftyShadesOfGrey'' was originally this before [[SerialNumbersFiledOff they removed all the names and sold it.]]

* ''Fanfic/AsDreamsAreMadeOn'' owes a great deal to the ''Literature/{{Twilight}}'' novels, but starts from the premise of Jasper, Alice and Leah all being gay and ripples out from there. The presence of a protagonist with knowledge of the books and films introduces further changes, and things get stranger and significantly more alternate as time goes on.

* In general, there's a surprising amount of 'retelling' stories, basically with a similar premise as Ultimate Spider-Man: Spidey's adventures retold, with original and familiar ideas thrown around. Sometimes, they can be epic and even BetterThanCanon, other times they can fall into common fanfic problems. Notably, [[ILetGwenStacyDie Gwen Stacy]] [[NeverLiveItDown dies in a lot of them]], [[StationsOfTheCanon seemingly for no reason.]] To a lesser degree, other comics, such as Iron Man, Avengers, Batman, and even Transformers, get the same treatment.

* ''Fanfic/WeasleyGirl'' is a GenderFlip story for the ''Franchise/HarryPotter'' series and an answer to all the "What if Harry Potter was a girl?" stories out there: In ''this'' universe ''Ron Weasley'' was born a girl. This makes for a very different Weasley family dynamic, which again means the plot develops very differently from canon.

** ''Fanfic/HollyPotterAndTheWitchingWorld'' is a ''Franchise/HarryPotter'' GenderFlip AU, in which 90% of the magical world is female and polygamy is the norm. And that's only where the differences begin.

* ''BattleForBFDIButThereIsNoSplit'' is an AU in which BFB never split and no one quit.

* ''Fanfic/InfinityTrainStarFinder'' don't follow the canon and continuity of ''WesternAnimation/TheLoudHouse'', The author did this to put his own ideas and takes on the characters from the show.

** ''Fanfic/{{Daemorphing}}'' is a FusionFic with ''Literature/HisDarkMaterials''. It starts of as beat-for-beat retellings of the ''Animorphs'' books from different perspectives and with daemons, but it veers into NotHisSled territory when [[TeamMemberInTheAdaptation Loren]] is introduced.
