* In one J.A. Johnstone western story, TheAllegedBoss of an army fort (following a metal breakdown) fails to realize that his TreacherousAdvisor's road construction project isn't an official project, but rather one which will let the corrupt local mine owner move out more gold, and has been conscripting workers by force and subjecting them to inhumane conditions. The accidental hero part (although he does have a more traditional moment later on [[PapaWolf when his daughter is threatened]]) comes when he innocently writes a progress report to Washington about the road, which gets sent out of the fort before anyone notices. His superiors are utterly baffled (given that they never ordered the project) and send in the literal [[TheCavalry cavalry]] to investigate, just in time to provide the protagonists with some much needed reinforcements.

* ''Fanfic/SpiderNinja'': Fury tells Agent Hill halfway through the fic that the ooze that mutated Splinter and the Turtles was created by an alien species known as the Kraang, who (according to [[TheUnseen the absent Carol Danvers]]) were planning a galaxy-wide invasion, with the ooze being used as some kind of weapon. However, before the invasion could get off the ground, a massive battle broke out between the Skrulls and the Kree. The Kraang homeworld was caught in the crossfire, which was so intense that the Kraang species were completely wiped out by the time the battle was over. The only thing to escape the planet in time was a canister of ooze, which fell to Earth, [[InSpiteOfANail and ended up in a sewer, where it mutated Splinter and the Turtles]].

* ''WebAnimation/TheAmazingDigitalCircus'': "[[Recap/TheAmazingDigitalCircusE2CandyCarrierChaos Candy Carrier Chaos!]]": Jax throws Pomni into action against her will, mainly because he's more concerned with going through the adventure than with her feelings on this matter. This accidentally starts the chain of events that makes her snap out of her depression by placing her in a position to wind up out of the game map's bounds.

* In ''LetsPlay/AnalogControl''''s LetsPlay of ''{{VideoGame/Fable}}'', main character Arseface was a NominalHero at best and a villain at worst, but managed to reject and destroy the evil Sword of Aeons... because MJTR hit the attack button one time too many while making a joke. The hosts take the stance that pure accident is the only way Arseface could ever have actually saved the world.

** The second time by being a more overt sociopath in "[[Recap/SouthParkS9E4BestFriendsForever Best Friends Forever]]." Kenny was killed by angels so he can lead Heaven's army against the forces of Hell and prevent armageddon, but is revived in a vegetative state by the hospital. Cartman is the one fighting to get Kenny unplugged, inadvertently allowing him to ''save the world'', because ''he wants Kenny dead so he can inherit his [[UsefulNotes/PlaystationPortable Sony PSP]]''.

* Medal of Honor winner [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rodger_Wilton_Young Rodger Young]] ignored his officer's order to withdraw, advancing (while wounded) on an enemy machine-gun until he was killed, thus covering the withdrawal of his fellow soldiers. However, Young was almost deaf, so likely never heard the order in the first place. That doesn't make him any less brave -- Young could have avoided combat by being sent to hospital to have his deafness treated, but refused.
