[[redirect:TroublingUnchildhoodBehavior]] Have you ever watched your favorite show, or read a good novel, and noticed a certain young character, probably under the age of 12, who was just too damn smart for their age? Does he or she appear to have some kind of profound (albeit expressed in the manner of a child) understanding of [[AnAesop the workings of life]] that even the adults don't understand? Do they suddenly say things out of the blue that are so deep you would be crushed to the size of a thimble by the pressure of it if you dived to the bottom? Well, then, you've got some AbsurdlyWorldlyChildren on your hands.

Kids such as these display sometimes alarming knowledge about life's secrets and often express them in ways that only children could. To get even deeper, they can be portrayed as feeling the immense weight of such an understanding as if they were ReallySevenHundredYearsOld. An Absurdly Worldly Child can occasionally also display symptoms of being GenreSavvy to some extent, but not always in a literal manner.

This trope is more or less [[UniversalTropes universal]], as it can show up just about anywhere you have (A: Young children. And (B: Deep moral issues and life lessons. But as with any wiki with lots of anime fans, we are quick to point out that it is almost a [[TheVirus pandemic]] in Japanese media. Children in Anime and Manga seem to be bred for this level of intelligence. They are often portrayed (especially if they are the main characters) as having to deal with crippling social and moral issues that most of us shouldn't have to deal with until our hormones have calmed down from puberty. It's a good thing they don't always overlap with [[TykeBomb another type of disturbingly mature children]].

Take note that there's always a bit of TruthInTelevision here. Small kids in RealLife just don't think the same way about life's problems as adults do. While older individuals may make issues into ridiculously complicated knots that seem to defy logic, a small child can potentially blurt something out that can absolutely [[MindScrew blow your mind]] and solve everything with a kind of simplified wisdom that will keep you guessing for hours. They will always do it without the slightest clue of what it means. "Kids say the funniest things" anecdotes tend to be this when they're not children innocently blurting out swear words or DoubleEntendre.
