''The Hunchback Assignments'' are a series of books by Canadian children's and young adult author [[http://arthurslade.com/frontpage/ Arthur Slade]]. Initially set in VictorianLondon, the books are young-adult {{Steampunk}} spy thrillers, complete with MadLibThrillerTitle, and starring Modo, the titular teenaged hunchback of the title.

Modo, a [[TheGrotesque deformed hunchback]], is a baby in gypsy caravan. He is discovered by Mr. Socrates, a highly-placed British intelligence operative, and raised to be one of Socrates' agents. In addition to teaching him tradecraft, martial arts and a well-rounded classification, Modo's training unlocks his innate shapeshifting ability.
