* DoNotAdjustYourSet: Chang Wong is able to have direct access to the Global Community television network feed so that he can interrupt its programming with messages from Dr. Tsion Ben-Judah (and later Chaim Rosenzweig) that are Biblical warnings and pleas for the undecided to come to Christ. This leads to a series of deaths among the Global Community's top brass when they fail utterly to get Tsion and Chaim off the air.

Even almost the entire Global Community broadcast crew gets slaughtered in their failure, making Nicolae Carpathia muse that the only person left to run the network is a janitor when the jacked signal is finally cut off.

* UsefulNotes/AirForceOne: Plays a big role in the story, centering around the hiring of Rayford Steele as the primary pilot, and the president giving it to Nicolae Carpathia so he can fly around in it as the leader of the Global Community. Several elements of its purpose and functionsuch as the fact that its pilots will always be Air Force personnel rather than civilian hires, the fact that if a President is not aboard it will never use the callsign "Air Force One", or the President confiding in Buck about how upset he is by ceding it to Carpathia when in fact the President always has at least two identical planes which can serve as Air Force One in case one of them is unavailable - and multiple different aircraft in the USAF fleet that are seconded for government VIP transport are handily overlooked for the sake of the story.

* ArabIsraeliConflict: Ended bloodlessly in the prologue. Israel, thanks to a chemical Super Miracle-Gro has bought the good will of its neighbors to the extent where they apparently have no problem with it absorbing Syria and a large chunk of Iraq.

* UsefulNotes/Jerusalem: One of the major locations in the series. It also serves as the world capital in Kingdom Come.

* CrapsackWorld: Descends into this, but later gets turned around. It gets bad to the point where the population depletion is so severe that there are hardly any service workers around to deal with things that need repairs and service.
