A TroperWork created by MetalShadowX.

In 2010, 18 year old Roxanne Kaizen, inspired by her sister’s abduction as a child and the return of her ambitious childhood friend Macario Valdez, uses powers inherited from her extraterrestrial mother to become Star Lass, a Kinetic crime fighter. Rio eventually joins her as Willpower; though nowhere near as powerful, he attempts to help Roxy with her hero duties and personal life. Eventually, suppressed feelings between them emerge when Rio introduces Roxy to his schoolmate Claire who later becomes the Cannon Queen. By the end of part 1, they are accompanied by two young heroes Claire had started tutoring: Merle (Crow) and Tom (Sonic Servo).

The stories revolve around these characters and their lives as both crime fighters and members of society.

Here is a link to the chapters, of which there are currently five of.

About 65 chapters are planned, though there may be less:
* Part 1 introduces the major characters, heroes and villains alike. (Chapters 1-13; between Summer 2010 and June 2011, excluding Chapters 2 and 4)

[[Timeline/KineticAdventures A timeline [WIP, spoilers] found here.]]

!The series will (or does) contain the following tropes [contains minor-to-major spoilers for future events] hottip:Note: because it hasn't been fully planned out yet, some things will likely change:

* AbortedArc: Originally, Leila's past would be revealed but has been dropped due to lack of interest.
* Adorkable: Most of the main cast, but especially Roxy.
* AffectionateParody: Of Superhero fiction.
* AllThereInTheManual: The pages written for the series on this site provide info that may or may not make it in the actual story.
* AllWomenArePrudes: Largely averted with the main female characters: Roxy enjoys sleeping with her boyfriend after TheirFirstTime; Merle is anticipating the day she reaches consent; and while Claire feels more self-conscious about the whole thing than the other two, she has thought about it sometimes. hottip:*:In other words, in order of descending enjoyability of sexual activity: Merle (in the future), Roxy, and Claire
* AngerBornOfWorry: Roxy and Rio occasionally do this to each other after one of them does something incredibly reckless.
* BattleCouple: Star Lass and Willpower, as their ChildhoodFriendRomance blooms.
* TheBechdelTest: Both played straight (mainly in the superhero and/or comedic moments) and averted (in the more contemporary drama moments, namely about relationships).
* BuxomIsBetter: I prefer female characters' breasts to be realistic, so while they may seem less endowed than other fictional characters, they're still of an impressive size (Roxy, Claire, and Merle are around D, B, and C-cups, respectively).
* CentralTheme: See PoorCommunicationKills. ThePowerOfFriendship (and Love) is an important theme as well.
* BlondeBrunetteRedhead: A variation; Roxy has blond hair, Rio has black hair, Tom has brown hair, Claire has auburn hair, and Merle has crimson colored hair.
* CastHerd: For most of part 1, the main characters are split into the primary duo, later trio, (of Roxy, Rio, and Claire) and secondary quartet (Leila, Scott, Merle, and Tom). Afterward, when Dusk Woman and Sorcerer , the other five work together as a single team.
* CastOfSnowflakes: Since I don't have a standard template for character faces (mostly just using existing pictures for reference), don't expect any character to look alike.
* CerebusRollercoaster: Chapters often switch between silly and serious.
* CharacterFocus: Mostly for the first seven chapters, but some others will still revolve around one or more characters.
* CompetitiveBalance:
** Star Lass: Evenly balanced.
** Willpower: Weak, yet durable.
** Cannon Queen: Strong, yet slow.
** Crow: Fragile, yet quick.
** Sonic Servo: Powerful, yet vulnerable
* DeathIsCheap: Averted. Unless I consider otherwise, characters stay dead.
* DifferentlyPoweredIndividual: Kinetics, as per the title. It also applies to magic users.
* EverythingIsBigInTexas: The series takes place mostly between the town of Humble or the larger, neighboring city of Houston.
* FiveManBand[=/=]FourPhilosophyEnsemble: The main characters eventually become this in part 2.
** TheHeroine: Star Lass (The Realist)
** TheLancer: Willpower (The Optimist)
** TheSmartGuy: Cannon Queen (The Cynic)
** TheBigGuy: Crow (The Apathetic)
** TheHeart[=/=]MissionControl: Servo Seer (The Conflicted)
* FiveTokenBand: The major characters are all multiracial; the following are merely their most visible lineages.
** Roxy: Asian.
** Rio: Hispanic.
** Claire: Caucasian.
** Merle: Indian. hottip:*:As in both South Asian and Native American
** Tom: Caucasian as well, though he also fulfills the "kid in a wheelchair" role later on.
** Leila and Scott are Middle Eastern and African (Canadian-)American, respectively
* FlashForward: Chapter 4 includes a glimpse into the future circa December 2011.
* HollywoodPudgy: Roxy, in addition to being muscular, is a tad chubbier than the others; but subverted in that no one (not even Roxy herself) really cares.
* ImprobablyFemaleCast: Somewhat unintentional; I just find female characters more interesting to make than male characters.
* ItsAlwaysSpring: Taking every precaution to avert this.
* MagicRealism
* MeaningfulEcho: Rio's line in chapter 3, when he's looking for Star Lass who hasn't returned ("My family's had a long past of stubborn yet noble deaths"), is revealed in chapter 7 to be something he said before: it was after telling Roxy the story of his father's death, on the day they first met.
* MixAndMatch: Superheroes + (Drama) Dramedy + SliceOfLife
* MythArc: The progressive relationship between Roxy and Rio spans the entire series. They go through the following relationship levels:
** Pre-canon: Platonic, then infatuation.
** Part 1: Confession, then courtship.
** Between part 1 and 2: [[spoiler: Sexual, then proposal.]]
** Sometime in the future: [[spoiler:Marriage and at least one child.]]
* OddFriendship: Merle and Claire; one's a happy go lucky, if somewhat quick to anger, athlete who's made tons of friends while the other is a talented, snarky bookworm who eventually begins to care for others.
* PassingTheTorch: When Leila retires from being Dusk Woman, she tells Merle that she believes the young sidekick has proven she can handle bad guys by herself.
* PlatonicLifePartners: Tom and Merle.
* PointOfView: Only the first two chapters are planned to have first-person narration. The rest will be mostly (if not entirely) in third-person.
* PoorCommunicationKills: More or less the CentralTheme early in part 1. Rio didn't tell Roxy that he intended to have her befriend Claire as he knew she would turn the opportunity down without even giving it a chance, but in doing so, he made her believe he didn't want to be friends anymore.
* PowerTrio: Roxy and Rio with Claire, after she joins them and before the merger.
* RainbowMotif: color:gold:Star Lass is yellow, color:red:Willpower is red, color:darkgreen:Cannon Queen is green, color:darkblue:Crow is blue, color:gray:Sonic Servo is gray.
* RedOniBlueOni: Rio, Merle, Roxy, Tom, and Claire in order from most to least emotional.
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: Inverted with Roxy and Rio; played straight with Leila and Scott.
* SeventhEpisodeTwist: The seventh chapter ends with a 6-month TimeSkip and a more straightforward story with (slightly) less CharacterFocus.
* SickeningSweethearts: Roxy and Rio may come across as this after part 1.
* SlidingScaleOfIdealismVersusCynicism: Mostly in-between, though usually leans slightly to the Idealistic side.
* ShoutOut: Tons are planned.
** Star Lass and Dusk Woman are based partially on Superman and Batman, respectively.
** Tom, AKA Sonic Servo, and Merle, AKA Crow, are close friends. This is taken even further when Claire, AKA Cannon Queen, works together with them and uses the gun she calls "Gypsy".
* TheirFirstTime: Roxy and Rio, in-between parts 1 and 2. Also, , just after and before .
* TimeSkip: See SeventhEpisodeTwist. Part 2 will also likely take place about a year after part 1.
* TownGirls: Roxy, while not exactly "girly", is the cold but sweet femme; Claire is the smart yet cynical neuter; and Merle is the wild and energetic butch.
* Two Guys to a Team
* WackyMarriageProposal: Eventually, .
* WebSerialNovel
* WhiteAndGreyMorality: While the Anti-Squad frequently engages in villainous activities, they (most of them at least) aren't entirely evil.
* XMeetsY: Although it's nowhere near as great as I want it to be, I'd like to consider it having TheDCAU's general feel with WesternAnimation/Daria based humor and Manga/YuYuHakusho style fights (as well as the dub's banter).
