The Dorchester was indeed an 0-4-0 when first built, while the C&SL did not run completely from Montreal to New York.

What Canada needed was a railway. So, they set out to build the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Champlain_and_St._Lawrence_Railroad Champlain and St. Lawrence Railroad]], which spanned the distance from UsefulNotes/{{Montreal}} to UsefulNotes/NewYork City.

* JustTrainWrong: The Dorchester in this book is drawn as an 0-4-0 tender locomotive. The actual Dorchester was an 0-6-0 locomotive.

''Hooray For The Dorchester'' is a [[ChildrensLiterature Children's]] picture book by Anne Fotheringham and Michael Martchenko.

Long ago, in the early days of the country of UsefulNotes/{{Canada}}, there was a lot of country and not a lot of ways to travel over long distance. There were horses and peoples' own two feet, but some people just couldn't be bothered to deal with the hassle.

They also needed a locomotive to pull trains. That's where [[http://casostation.ca/the-dorchester-2/ The Dorchester]] came in. And so, this book chronicles the struggles of the first Canadian railway.

The book was published in 1986.
