* TruerToTheText: The manga adaptation overall is this when compared to the Anime, which is [[{{Irony}} ironic]] considering it skipped Volumes 2 and 4 and had to [[AdaptationExplanationExtrication deal with the consequences of doing so]]. Still, the manga avoids being a CompressedAdaptation and manages to keep in a lot more scenes and information that's made explicit in the Light Novels but omitted or not as clear in the anime -- examples include keeping in the subplot of Ouma Yamisaka in the Three Stories Arc (cut from the original anime, but made its own episode in Index II) and Touma's fight against Accelerator (including [[DeliberateInjuryGambit deliberately throwing gravel at Accelerator]] to use the Reflection to escape the falling shipping crates).
** It's worth noting that the manga originally started before the anime, leading to the anime incorporating a few panes from the manga into its scenes...until the anime OvertookTheManga and the manga started taking inspiration from the anime! Specifically, it takes inspiration for scenes that the anime changes from the original Light Novels that makes the [[PragmaticAdaptation scene more visually striking while not detracting from its importance]] -- an excellent example is Accelerator's attack on the Windowless Building, which is changed from him throwing a concrete wall to him throwing a skyscraper, the latter of which the manga uses. Coupled with a sprinkling of extra scenes the manga throws in to expand the novels even further, this means the manga [[{{Zigzagged}} somehow possesses a mix]] of AdaptationExpansion, PragmaticAdaptation, AdaptationExplanationExtrication, ''and'' TruerToTheText!

* ShouldntWeBeInSchoolRightNow:
** Yes, he should be. But unfortunately for Touma, [[CosmicPlaything fate]] (or [[KidnappedByTheCall Motoharu]]) seems hell-bent on constantly interrupting his life with some adventure or other. The fact that his school attendance is so miserable is brought up by Komoe sometimes, and Touma bemoans the fact that he's in serious danger of being held back a year.
** This question also applies to the city's Dark Side, though there's a smattering of justifications as to why school isn't seen:
*** Level 5s like Accelerator and Kakine are [[TeenGenius smart enough]] that they don't need formal education.
*** Members of Skill-Out (like Hamazura) are dropouts.
*** Those who started as [[ConvenientlyAnOrphan Child Errors]] (like Kinuhata and Kuroyoru) likely never got enrolled in proper schooling in the first place.
*** In ''Railgun'', it's implied that at least ''some'' members of the Dark Side go to a normal school, it's just that they often get called to take part in "extracurricular activities", to the detriment of their social lives.
** No explanation given for the Magic side's lack of formal education, despite the fact that several members there, Index included, are younger than 18.

* SecretlyGayActivity: Kuroko is a very aggressive lesbian girl who is deeply infatuated with Mikoto Misaka. Upon learning what school Misaka would be attending, Kuroko manipulated and somehow rigged the dormitory assignments so that she and Misaka would be sharing a dorm together. Unlike most versions of this trope, however, Kuroko is completely unsubtle about her desires (amongst people they both know, anyway) but will still often try to disguise activities like bathing with Mikoto as completely innocent. Rarely do Misaka or their friends buy it, and even if they do, Kuroko's over-eager and often lecherous desire to do the activity will usually tip them off.
