Added DiffLines:

* DisproportionateRetribution: In the first part of the Dark Carnival in ''Left 4 Dead 2'', Max [[ItMakesSenseInContext insults the gnome he's been carrying]] and resolves to leave it behind. Schuyler shoots him for being "Rude", Max shoots back, and then Schuyler incapacitates him.

Added DiffLines:

*** Max is usually the one to receive these, especially in Dark Carnival. He spends most of the episode carrying around a gnome for an achievement, causing him to not be able to do much and being (possibly jokingly) made fun of when he tries to give up. At the end of the first part, Schuyler shoots him; he shoots back, only for Schuyler to incapacitate him and Alec to constantly start and stop reviving him, doing nothing to get him up while preventing anyone else from helping. Max outright says at the end of the video that if he doesn't get properly healed, he's going to RageQuit.

Added DiffLines:

* TookALevelInJerkass: Schuyler in ''Left 4 Dead 2''; sometimes justified by him only really getting annoyed at [[TheLoad Max]], sometimes...not so much. See DisproportionateRetribution above.

Added DiffLines:

* HomeFieldAdvantage: Max is typically better at the ''Super Mario Bros.'' games, as he's played those games (and platformers in general) a lot. Peter, on the other hand, is often better at the ''Sonic the Hedgehog'' games for similar reasons - especially since Max has never played ''any'' of the Sonic games planned for the series.

** There's ''way'' too many of these to count. Just look at the [[Funny/RLYoshi funny moments]] page, because almost all of those moments qualify as this.

** TheHero: Max
** TheLancer: Zero
** TheBigGuy: Schuyler / Fury
** TheSmartGuy / TheChick: Peter[[hottip:*: though Max takes the role of TheChick in ''The Walls'' and ''Tekkit''.]]

to:

** In general:
***
TheHero: Max
**
Max, who heads most of the projects and is the main player if the game isn't multiplayer.
***
TheLancer: Zero
**
Zero, who is calm compared to Max and frequently appears alongside him.
***
TheBigGuy: Schuyler / Fury
**
and Fury, depending on the game; both are snarky and usually the most sane of whatever group is present.
***
TheSmartGuy / TheChick: Peter[[hottip:*: though Max takes Peter fits both roles, due to being GenreSavvy and hilariously random respectively. Sometimes the role of TheChick is passed to [[ButtMonkey Max]] or less frequent guests.
** In ''Left 4 Dead 2'':
*** TheHero: Zero, who while not consistently the best, tends to lead the team around. He also acts as TheSmartGuy.
*** TheLancer: Alec, who tends to stick with Zero but can be considered the opposite of him
in ''The Walls'' almost every way.
*** TheBigGuy: Schuyler, who almost always tops the leaderboards
and ''Tekkit''.]]is easily the snarkiest of the four.
*** TheChick: Max, who can't go even a couple minutes without screwing something up and making himself look foolish.

** When both Zero and Schuyler appear together for the first time in ''Left 4 Dead 2'', we're treated to a double dose of their snarkiness and sanity compared to Max and Alec. Though Schuyler is arguably more sane.

--> ''What's up, Website/YouTube? This is Creator/RLYoshi as usual, bringing you...''

[[http://www.youtube.com/RLYoshi RLYoshi]], real name Max, is a Website/YouTube [[LetsPlay Let's Player]] who first came into the community with his LP of ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime''. Since then, he has taken to working on several different let's plays and other gameplay videos, often joined by [[SpecialGuest guest commentators or players]]. The most frequent of these are his friends [[CloudCuckooLander Peter]], [[TheComicallySerious Fury]], and [[OnlySaneMan Zero]] (the latter of whom [[{{LetsPlay/Zerosaga1}} has his own page]]).

Max's [=LPing=] style generally revolves around him being both [[DeadpanSnarker sarcastic]] and [[CloudCuckooLander crazy]], leading to some funny moments and RedOniBlueOni pairings depending on who he's with. He is also known for SelfDeprecation and frequent references to ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic''.

This page is specifically for information about his [[LetsPlay Let's Plays]]. Information about his other videos or him in general goes [[Creator/RLYoshi here]].

!Tropes that apply to [=RLYoshi=]'s let's plays
* AdamSmithHatesYourGuts: In-universe; discussed between Max and Schuyler in ''Ocarina of Time'', with this trope name even being used as the episode's title.
* AddedAlliterativeAppeal: Frequent and almost always lampshaded.
* ApocalypticLog: The ''Tekkit'' let's play seems to be this, judging by the intro text of episode 1. All we know is that there was a disaster of sorts, with several people killed and only one survivor.
* AscendedExtra: Fury first appeared in ''The Walls'' as one of the six fighters and didn't play any more of a role than Frank, John, or Bridgett. Now Fury has joined Max and Zero in ''Tekkit''.
** Zero was at first just a replacement co-commentator in ''Battletoads'', but quickly became one of Max's most frequent guests.
* AttentionDeficitCreatorDisorder: Max seems to like working on various things at once. To be fair, he usually manages to stay on schedule with them, and if he can't then he'll make a Twitter post to announce a short delay or hiatus.
** This seems to have started causing trouble, judging by the delays on ''Skyward Sword'' and ''Super Vexation Saga''.
* AttentionDeficitOohShiny
* BadassBoast: "I REFUSE TO DIE!" in ''Ocarina of Time''.
* BatmanGambit: Possibly unintentional, but in ''Super Vexation Saga'' for ''Super Mario Bros. 2'', [[spoiler: when there's one life left and Max just died, Peter lets Max keep playing rather than taking control back. Because of this, when Max dies again and they stop, in the final score Max ends up with two more deaths than Peter, rather than them being tied, thus contributing to Peter's victory. Had Max given control back to Peter, or accomplished a bit before dying, then Max might have won.]]
* BerserkButton: To a mild extent, Max dislikes overused jokes. To a far more [[LargeHam hammy]] amount, [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime Kaepora]] [[ShallIRepeatThat Gaebora]].
** And Ihsoylr in ''Skyward Sword''.
** Peter doesn't like it when Max references WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic, or when the ''Wii Party'' AI beats him.
* BookEnds: A subtle one; ''Wii Party'' starts and ends with Peter being angry - first at Max for making a pony reference, then [[spoiler: at the game itself for handing him a HumiliationConga]].
** ''Battletoads'' starts and ends on the title screen.
* BrandX: Parodied in ''Portal 2'' when Max forgets what kind of popcorn he's eating.
--> '''Jacob''': Sponsored by popcorn.
* ButtMonkey: Everyone at different points, though Max and Peter are the most consistent - usually due to [[VitriolicBestBuds each other]].
* CallBack: Constant references are made to previous let's plays in the later ones, especially ''Ocarina of Time''.
* CatchPhrase: A few for most people.
** Max: "What's up, YouTube? This is [=RLYoshi=] as usual, bringing you..." and "[[ButtonMashing B BUTTON B BUTTON B BUTTON]]". He also gets one or two unique to each game, such as "Oh god the owl!" for Ocarina of Time or "TO THE SKYYYYY" for Skyward Sword.
** Peter: "FIRE BUBBLES!"
** Zero: "Dead" in Battletoads; "THIS GUY / THESE GUYS" in everything else.
* CharacterizationMarchesOn: Max and Peter were quite different in Ocarina of Time. Max was more hyper and often tried too hard to make jokes (in his defense, he was literally only twelve to thirteen years old at the time), while Peter was moderately normal and just went along with what Max did. Thousand-Year Door was the first to see Max become much more sane, and when Peter appeared in Skyward Sword, we saw that he had changed too.
** Also a case of possibly HilariousInHindsight; in Ocarina of Time, mainly during the Ice Cavern, Schuyler was making loads of references to ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'', and Max didn't get them. Come Skyward Sword, and Max is making these references all the time, mainly to annoy Peter.
* ChekhovsGun: In Ocarina of Time, Max gets the Nayru's Love item despite believing it to be pretty much useless. He later uses it when battling Twinrova [[spoiler: and ends up winning because of it]].
** The [[spoiler: broken glass]] in ''Surgeon Simulator 2013''. Max uses it a little bit at first, but in his final (and successful) playthrough, [[spoiler: he completes the entire operation with nothing but it]].
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: Marioman2233 went against Max in some Mario Strikers Charged matches for filler, then appeared in Battletoads up to Volkmire's Inferno. After that, he stopped appearing, and Battletoads even went on a hiatus until Max could find a new co-commentator.
** Schuyler also suddenly stopped appearing after ''Ocarina of Time'', despite Peter continuing to appear. However, he does make an appearance in ''Slender'', walking in while Max is playing and watching for a couple minutes. Max's reaction implies that this was unexpected. He seems to have reappeared as of ''New Super Mario Bros. Wii''.
* CloudCuckooLander: Peter. Also Max, to a lesser extent, though this shows more when he's with Zero or Schuyler.
* ContentWarnings: As of partway through ''Skyward Sword''. Sometimes they don't pop up.
* CrossPlayer: In ''Super Mario Bros. 2'' in the ''Super Vexation Saga'', Peter seems to enjoy playing as Peach, while Max alternates characters.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Peter, despite his odd tendencies, is able to focus and notice things better than Max at times, and has shown to be just as competent - if not more so - at Skyward Sword, which he hasn't played before.
** He even manages to [[spoiler: take a landslide lead in ''Super Vexation Saga'' as of this writing]].
** Max in ''The Walls 2''; at first, the way he starts off makes you think that he'll act TooDumbToLive like in the first ''The Walls'', [[spoiler: but then he wins the round easily]].
** According to Max's Tumblr, Peter appears later in the ''Tekkit'' series and is an absolute genius. Max even says that Peter is, on a scale of one to ten with ten being "can do anything", a ten. Zero, meanwhile, is listed as an eight and Max is listed as a five or six (see DitzyGenius under TheDitz below, or on the character sheet).
* CurbStompBattle: ''Sonic & Knuckles'' in the Super Vexation Saga was this with [[spoiler: Max]] as the victor, winning in all but two factors - levels cleared and deaths, the former of which was a tie.
* DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment: In ''Portal 2'':
--> '''Max''': This is [=RLYoshi=] as usual, with [=NamelessWarning=], who you probably haven't heard of unless you...know of...I don't know.
--> '''Onscreen Text''': [[DeadpanSnarker "Who you probably haven't heard of unless you've heard of him."]] [[LampshadeHanging Yeah...]]
* {{Determinator}}: Max in Battletoads.
** Also in Ocarina of Time's Spirit Temple; when low on health and lacking any fairies, he's fighting the boss and having loads of trouble. Despite looking like he's clearly about to die, he ''still keeps going'', using Nayru's Love to keep himself alive. [[spoiler: He ends up succeeding.]]
** Peter in ''Wii Party''.
* TheDitz: Max in pretty much everything done in ''Minecraft''.
** DitzyGenius: In ''Tekkit'' at least; he posted on Tumblr that [[ObfuscatingStupidity he actually knows more than he lets on]] and most of his screwing up in ''Tekkit'' was either deliberate or caused by lack of sleep.
* DopeSlap: Peter delivers one to Max at the beginning of ''Wii Party'' for making a pony reference.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: Ocarina of Time, as well as the first few parts of Thousand Year Door, had pretty bad audio quality due to Max not owning a proper microphone at the time. Ocarina of Time also had no set schedule, and so episode updates were random and unpredictable.
** ''Ocarina of Time'', as well as early parts of ''Skyward Sword'', also had censor bleeps for any swear words. These were later removed, and now Max just puts ContentWarnings at the start of videos that need them.
** ''Super Mario Bros.'' was run differently in ''Super Vexation Saga'' than the rest; for example, they didn't stop until [[spoiler: Peter]] RageQuit, as opposed to future playthroughs where they stop after two Game Overs (after a certain point has been passed).
* EpicFail: In ''Portal 2'', at one point, Jacob has to catch a sphere as it flies over to him without letting it roll in the water. Not only does he miss the sphere, but ''he'' also somehow falls in the water and dies.
* FacePalm: Frequently.
** He facepalms three times in a row in ''Welcome to Ponyville'' when Granny Smith is [[ShipTease shipping]] him with Applejack.
* FakeGuestStar: Peter in Skyward Sword; he has, so far, appeared in every single episode except the first few, but is still referred to as just a guest.
* FanNickname: In-universe; Max and Peter love nicknaming various characters in Skyward Sword. Examples include Fi being called Gibros [[hottip:*: a combination of "gibberish" and "GLaDOS", since Max thinks she sounds like GLaDOS speaking gibberish]], the salesman in the Bazaar being called the [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaMajorasMask Happy Shield Salesman]], Ghirahim being called Giratina or Herobrine (since they can't pronounce his real name), and a random blue-clothed knight being called [[SdrawkcabName Ihsoylr]].
* FiveManBand
** TheHero: Max
** TheLancer: Zero
** TheBigGuy: Schuyler / Fury
** TheSmartGuy / TheChick: Peter[[hottip:*: though Max takes the role of TheChick in ''The Walls'' and ''Tekkit''.]]
* FlatWhat: Max does these a lot, especially in ''Welcome to Ponyville''.
* ForegoneConclusion: ''Tekkit'' starts off by telling us that the footage was from a disaster site with only one survivor. There are three people (Max, Zero, and Fury) in the series. Yep, someone's gonna die.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: The ApocalypticLog intro of ''Tekkit'' is blatantly foreshadowing some future disaster...which we have yet to see.
** In ''The Walls 2'', Max mentions Letropolis at one point, and onscreen text tells viewers to ignore it and that [[BlatantLies it's nothing important]]. [[BadLiar Followed by "bad poker face" actually being]] ''[[BadLiar written]]'' [[BadLiar in said onscreen text]].
* GenreSavvy: Max. Though this sometimes gets subverted when it turns out he's overthinking it, or when his opponents find a way around it - see [[spoiler: how Zero kills him in the third round of ''The Walls'']] for the best example.
** Peter comes off as this in ''Skyward Sword'', but then again he's been reading the guidebook and watching other people play the game, so...
* HeroicSacrifice: During the setup for the three-versus-three battle of Minecraft: The Walls, Max spends lots of time setting up a TNT trap with a pressure plate to activate it. Later, seeing how he's about to die, he runs to jump on the pressure plate and [[TakingYouWithMe kill one of his opponents as well as himself]]. [[spoiler: [[DefiedTrope He gets killed before he can step on it, though.]]]]
* HiddenDepths: Peter apparently has quite a bit of gaming skill, but isn't able to show it often since Max is the one who usually plays.
** If one only watches Max's let's plays, they likely wouldn't know he can rap.
* HostileShowTakeover: In ''Skyward Sword'', Peter once started a recording episode off playing while Max was out of the room and tried to keep the controls when Max returned.
** Downplayed in ''Super Vexation Saga''; when ''Super Mario Bros. 2'' begins, Peter is using Max as a footstool and ordering him to do things [[spoiler: due to Peter being in the lead]], but after a minute Max takes over again.
* HumiliationConga: [[spoiler: Peter suffers this in ''Wii Party'', particularly in Battle Mode and Globe Trot. ''Especially'' Globe Trot.]]
* INeedAFreakingDrink: At the end of Karnath's Lair in ''Battletoads'' Max jokes about this. He likely didn't actually follow through though.
* InMediasRes: The "What the Hell? Moment" video for ''Minecraft'' starts off in the middle of a conversation about [[MakesJustAsMuchSenseInContext owning only TNT in a box of TNT]], which then leads into Inception jokes.
* InsistentTerminology: Throughout ''Welcome to Ponyville'', Max consistently refers to Derpy Hooves as her other fanon name, "Ditzy".
* TheInsomniac: Max is partially type A, partially type C. He acts a lot crazier than normal in ''Minecraft: The Walls'' due to sleep deprivation, and he often uses a lack of sleep as an excuse for odd behaviour.
** Invoked with his ''Challenge Foolishly Accepted'' playthrough of ''Wii Play'', which he plays after 31 hours of no sleep.
* InterfaceScrew: His ''Poker Night at the Inventory'' playing in ''Challenge Foolishly Accepted'' has the condition that he is not allowed to look at his own cards, so he sticks a piece of cardboard in front of a corner of his computer.
* ItIsPronouncedTroPAY: Max and Peter both have trouble pronouncing Ghirahim's name in Skyward Sword, so they decide to just call him [[VideoGame/PokemonDiamondAndPearl Giratina]].
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Max is a bit of a jerk, but usually doesn't mean anything by it.
** Zero takes this role as well, particularly in ''Minecraft: The Walls''.
* LargeHam: Peter and Max both.
** Peter takes this up further than normal in ''Wii Party''.
* LeeroyJenkins: This is yelled fairly often, and possibly done even more.
* LetsGetDangerous: Max does this at times. [[SubvertedTrope Doesn't usually work.]]
* LetsPlay
* MadnessMantra: "B BUTTON B BUTTON B BUTTON!"
** For Peter during Globe Trot in ''Wii Party'': "I need more coins I need more coins I need more coins..."
* MathematiciansAnswer: In his second ''"What the Hell?" Moments'' video for ''Left 4 Dead 2'', Max briefly insists that the gun he has isn't a shotgun, because it fires faster than a shotgun should. Schuyler responds that it ''is'' a shotgun.
--> '''Schuyler''': What do you think this gun ''is'' then? What would you call it?
--> '''Max''': A gun!
--> '''Schuyler''': What class?
--> ''({{Beat}})''
--> '''Max''': Math class!
--> '''Schuyler''': ''You are terrible at this game!''
* MoodWhiplash: Episode 1 of ''Tekkit'' starts off with an introduction that paints the series as sort of an ApocalypticLog. Then it gets to the actual gameplay, and HilarityEnsues.
* MotorMouth: Max can talk damn fast when he wants. Zero and Peter can as well.
* NoIndoorVoice: Max sometimes speaks loudly, even when there's nothing big happening.
* NonSequitur: Peter lets these off all the time. Usually they involve pineapples, the colour purple, or both.
* NotSoStoic: Schuyler manages to crack a few jokes, despite being emotionless most of the time.
* NWordPrivileges: In ''Skyward Sword'', Max claims he's allowed to make fun of Canadian stereotypes because he's Canadian. [[DudeNotFunny Peter doesn't like this.]]
* OnlySaneMan: Zero or Schuyler when they're around. Max when they aren't.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Max states that when he starts cursing, things are getting real, since he rarely swears and resorts to GoshDangitToHeck or an UnusualEuphemism. Naturally, this happens during Battletoads.
* OrphanedSeries: His let's plays of both ''Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door'' and ''MLP RPG'' were cancelled due to him not enjoying let's playing them, partially because he considers RPG games to be somewhat boring.
* PowerTrio: ''Tekkit'' gives us some examples with [[TheDitz Max]], [[OnlySaneMan Zero]], and [[TheComicallySerious Fury]]:
** FreudianTrio: Fury, Zero, and Max are TheKirk, TheSpock, and TheMcCoy respectively.
** KnightKnaveAndSquire: Zero is the Knight, Fury is the Knave, Max is the Squire.
* PrecisionFStrike: Max usually controls his swearing, so if he lets one of these slip, there's likely a good reason for it. Lampshaded in ''Battletoads''.
* PungeonMaster: Max.
** He and Schuyler end up in a [[HurricaneOfPuns pun war]] throughout ''Ocarina of Time''. [[spoiler: Schuyler wins.]]
* RageQuit: Peter in ''Super Mario Bros.'' for the ''Super Vexation Saga''. Whether or not this will happen in the future is yet to be seen.
* RedOniBlueOni: Peter and Max; Max and Schuyler; Max and Zero.
** In Minecraft: The Walls, a rather glaring example is Max and Bridgett.
** ''Portal 2'' sees Jacob and Max as red and blue respectively...when Max isn't being a {{Troll}}.
* RuleOfCool: For a while in Skyward Sword, back when Max still cared about censoring swears, he used short dubstep clips as makeshift censor bleeps.
* RunningGag: Quite a few.
** Max and Schuyler's pun war in ''Ocarina of Time''.
** Peter hitting Max for making pony references.
** Max's computer going into sleep mode while he's recording, causing him to yell "COMPUTER!" and run to turn it back on.
** When Max lets Peter take control in ''Skyward Sword'', he has taken to using the time to check his email.
** Throughout ''The Walls'' and ''The Walls 2'', Max often sets up traps that never get used or possibly even mentioned after being set up. Zero lampshades this on his side in the third round in ''The Walls''.
** During the ''Sonic the Hedgehog'' games in ''Super Vexation Saga'', Max keeps on instinctively jumping when he reaches a loop, rather than continuing to run.
* ScheduleSlip: Mostly in Ocarina of Time, due to not having a set schedule in the first place.
** His other stuff is prone to this as well; Thousand-Year Door went on an outright hiatus before being cancelled, Battletoads had over half the LP delayed due to Max looking for a new co-commentator, and Skyward Sword, Wii Party, and Super Vexation Saga episodes are often delayed or just completely skipped due to lack of footage, forgetting to edit, or just being lazy.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: After [[spoiler: losing Globe Trot in ''Wii Party'']], Peter temporarily leaves the room. He comes back though.
** In general, people sometimes leave the room during recording sessions, but more because they have to do something than out of rage. Sometimes they leave at the end of a recording session.
* SdrawkcabName: In Skyward Sword, Max and Peter decide to name the knight who saves Link when he falls off a cliff "Ihsoylr", which is backwards for [=RLYoshi=], because he wears a blue tunic and Max's preferred video game persona is Link wearing a blue tunic.
* '''SelfDeprecation''': Max gives off loads of this.
* ShoutOut: Too many to list. Mostly to other [[LetsPlay Let's Players]], WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic, and {{VideoGame/Minecraft}}.
* SirSwearsALot: Peter, though this has toned down recently.
* StuffBlowingUp: His "What the Hell? Moment" video for ''Minecraft'' features him, Zero, and Bridgett filling a crater, likely caused by TNT, with ''more'' TNT and setting it off. The explosion lasts several minutes and even disconnects Max and Bridgett from the server.
--> '''Zero''': [[SarcasmMode Let's fill THIS crater with TNT!]]
* SuperOCD: Max.
* SwitchingPOV: A variation; ''Tekkit'' has the perspective switch between Max and Zero to show what they're doing at different times.
** Except for the uploads to Zero's channel, where the entire episode is from Zero's perspective.
* TemptingFate: Plenty. In Ocarina of Time, for instance, Peter brings up Max's low health while fighting an Iron Knuckle. Max replies by saying he'll be fine because he has a fairy. Later, while fighting Twinrova, the same problem comes up...and he doesn't have a fairy.
* ThatOneLevel: In-universe. Max considers stealth levels to be his weakness.
* TheStoic: Schuyler.
** Max can be this if he wants. In his ''Slender'' playthrough, while he certainly isn't emotionless, he doesn't react nearly as much as one would expect.
* TitleDrop: Inverted; ever since partway through Ocarina of Time, all of the regular let's play episodes are named after quotes from the episode. Super Vexation Saga, the filler stuff, and Minecraft: The Walls seem to not be a part of this though.
* TooDumbToLive: Max in ''The Walls''. His mishaps include building various failed traps, going LeeroyJenkins on Zero, and building a ''wooden'' sniper tower.
--> '''Zero''': ''(upon seeing the wooden sniper tower)'' YOSHI, YOU'RE A DUMBASS!
* TookALevelInBadass: Max was constantly screwing up in ''The Walls'', but he became a lot better in ''The Walls 2'', [[spoiler: killing Fury and John by himself and then Zero, winning the round [[CurbStompBattle very]] [[OneManArmy easily]].]]
* TookALevelInDumbass: Peter was kind of weird in Ocarina of Time. After that, he became a full CloudCuckooLander. [[TookALevelInBadass Though in turn, we also got to see him play games rather than just listen to him talk, and he's pretty good.]]
** Max goes from a decent player to [[TheDitz absolutely incompetent]] in ''The Walls'' and ''Tekkit''. And in the latter, he claims he has the most Tekkit knowledge out of himself, Zero, and Fury (only seen in Zero's side; cut out from Max's side)...we can tell this won't end nicely.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Max seems to have a thing for pizza, as shown when Peter brings up in one Skyward Sword episode how they always eat pizza for lunch whenever he comes over to record.
** He and Peter also like to drink a fruit juice called Five Alive. Max states that it apparently acts like coffee to him and gives him energy, while Peter just seems to like the taste.
* {{Troll}}: Peter.
** Max isn't completely above this either. He goes full force with it against [[ButtMonkey Jacob]] in ''Portal 2 Co-op''.
* VitriolicBestBuds: Max and Peter have a Type B kind of friendship. Best shown in Wii Party; they get a hundred percent on Friend Connection without cheating, only to get into a fistfight during Match Up when Peter tries to steal Max's remote to keep him from winning. And this happens during the same recording session.
--> '''Max''': Hey! You know what this calls for? ''(opens up Wii Party)'' [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic A PARTY!]]
--> ''(hitting sound is heard)''
--> '''Peter''': [[DisproportionateRetribution I just slapped him]] [[DopeSlap in the head.]]
** Max seems to have this type of friendship with Zero as well, as seen in ''The Walls'' and ''Tekkit''.
* VocalDissonance: It's hard to imagine the creepy demonic voice that Max likes to do [[hottip:*: he gives it to Twinrova in ''Ocarina of Time'', Grodus in ''Thousand-Year Door'', the old woman in ''Skyward Sword'', and does a deeper version of it just whenever he feels like it]] coming out of him, particularly if you know [[{{Adorkable}} what he looks like.]]
** Max and Peter like to play with this in ''Skyward Sword''. Peter gives a Goron a very high-pitched voice, Max gives Fi a voice that sounds like [[{{VideoGame/Portal}} GLaDOS]], etc.
* WeAreExperiencingTechnicalDifficulties: One episode of ''Skyward Sword'' had no audio for some reason. So did the second episode of ''Tekkit'', but Max didn't even bother uploading that, instead telling viewers to go to Zero's channel to watch it from his side.
* WorkingThroughTheCold: Max's short LP of ''My Little Investigations'' was done while he was sick.
** Peter and Schuyler have also been sick at times, but still recorded. Zero was also sleep-deprived for his co-commentating in ''Battletoads''.
* YankTheDogsChain: [[spoiler: Peter was working hard to win Globe Trot in ''Wii Party'', but lost when one of the computers bought the souvenir he was about to get. [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere He wasn't happy about this.]]]]
