* ''VideoGame/TheAquaticAdventureoftheLastHuman'' is about the last surviving human returning from a long space journey and exploring the ruins of a flooded earth trying to uncover the mystery of what happened to the rest of humanity.

* ''[[Videogame/CrusaderKings Crusader Kings 2]]'' has a few characters that are this, which can vary depending on which time period you start, or your own actions. For example, Theodoric de Merohingi is the last of the Merovingians, Petronila of Aragon is the last of the Jimenez Dynasty, and Herbert Karling is the last of Charlemagne's line. Your own player character can end up becoming this if things go wrong and you don't or can't have children.

* In the backstory of ''Videogame/DarkSouls'', the Lords waged war against the Everlasting Dragons. Their combined might and the betrayal of the dragon Seath the Scaleless led to the Everlasting Dragons' near extinction. By the time of the games, only a handful of true Dragons remain (and there are reasons they survived):
** In ''Videogame/DarkSoulsI'', you encounter a Wyvern (he guards the bridge from the Undead Burg to the Undead Parish), the Gaping Dragon (a mutant dragon hiding in the sewers), Seath himself (his betrayal was richly rewarded by Gwyn much to the ire of some of his subjects), a Stone Dragon (hiding in one of the most difficult to reach hidden areas in the game), and Black Dragon Kalameet (a dragon the gods left to his own devices since they were just ''that'' scared of him and for good reason). You can (and will in the case of Seath -- the Gaping Dragon ''can'' be skipped and Kalameet is an OptionalBoss but Seath ''has'' to die for the main plot to progress) kill all but the Stone Dragon.
** In ''Videogame/DarkSoulsII'', you encounter (and can kill) the Ancient Dragon [[spoiler:though it's implied to be an artificial dragon]] and Sinh the Slumbering Dragon (hiding in the Sunken City of Shulva).
** The GrandFinale of the series ''Videogame/DarkSoulsIII'' has one last true Dragon for you to face in ''The Ringed City''. Darkeater Midir was a dragon that was actually ''raised'' by the gods and thus had UndyingLoyalty to them. Since ''The Ringed City'' content is chronologically the last entry in the series, Midir is the very last Dragon.

* ''Fallout 4'' has a few examples.

** In ''Videogame/FinalFantasyIV'', Rydia is the last of the Summoners. The reasons for this hinge on the main character Cecil's sheer gullibility, making this also a case of NiceJobBreakingItHero. However, talking to the survivors of her hometown reveal that Rydia is only the last woman.

** Also, in ''Videogame/FinalFantasyVI'', Strago is the last Blue Mage, and Terra is all that remains of the Espers. After the breaking of the world Mog appears to be the last remaining moogle.
** In ''Videogame/FinalFantasyVII'', Aerith is described as the last surviving Cetra, also known as the Ancients, who were nearly wiped out two thousand years ago when the GreaterScopeVillain arrived, but managed to [[SealedEvilInACan seal it in a can]]. She is actually only half-Cetra, since her father was a human; her mother, Ifalna, was the last full-blooded Cetra, but she died when Aerith was a girl. Although she was not born into their culture, Aerith did inherit some of her people's powers. This led to a rather disturbing sequence in which a rather amoral scientist attempted to breed her with Red XIII, a member of a sentient (and nearly extinct) race of canines, in an attempt to "save two endangered species". Given Hojo was also responsible for [[spoiler:the creation of the BigBad of the game]], among other things, this is actually rather tame for him.
** Garnet and Eiko in ''Videogame/FinalFantasyIX'' are the last two summoners during the events of the game.
** In ''Videogame/FinalFantasyX'', Seymour kills almost the entire Ronso tribe, making Kimahri one of the last Ronso. However, there are still a few left, like the Ronso Blitzball Team. The LighterAndSofter ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyX2'' reveals that a good amount of Ronso survived Seymour's slaughter, so they'll probably be fine. Nevertheless, Seymour refers to Kimahri as "the last Ronso" after the butchery was finished. [[UnstoppableRage Kimahri does not take it well.]]
** In ''Videogame/FinalFantasyXIIRevenantWings'',[[spoiler:Mydia]], [[spoiler:the Judge of Wings]] becomes this... [[spoiler:by killing off the rest of her race, the feol Viera.]]
** Fang and Vanille in ''Videogame/FinalFantasyXIII'' are the last two Gran Pulsian humans left in the game. The rest are either killed or turned into monsters and stones years ago. In the sequel, ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyXIII2'', Noel Kreiss was the last living human being in the future from 700 years ago after the events of ''Videogame/FinalFantasyXIII''.

** From the original VideoGame/GodOfWar trilogy, [[spoiler: Athena is the only member of the Greek Pantheon confirmed to have survived the destruction of Mt. Olympus.]]

* The indie RPG ''VideoGame/{{Lisa}}'' features Buddy, the [[GenderRarityValue only known human female left on the planet]] [[AfterTheEnd after the post-apocalyptic event]] known as the "Great White Flash" somehow [[{{Gendercide}} killed off the remaining women off]]. Many males consider her as the messiah, as a way for the human race to survive, while the others have more [[RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil nefarious reasons for it]].
* In ''Videogame/LiveALive'', the boss of the Prehistoric Chapter "Contact" is O-D-O, a Tyrannosaurus Rex that is the only dinosaur that appears in the chapter and is likely the last dinosaur on Earth [[ScienceMarchesOn (not counting birds)]].

* Munch from the ''Videogame/{{Oddworld}}'' series is the last known member of the Gabbit species. His main motivation in ''Munch's Oddysee'' is trying to earn enough Moolah to buy the last batch of Gabbit eggs (which are destined to be auctioned as extremely expensive caviar) so that his species has a chance of survival.

* In ''VideoGame/OdinSphere'', by the time the dragon Leventhan is hatched he is the Last Of His Kind since Hindel, Wagner, and Belial have all been slain. Hence his [[BossSubtitles Boss Subtitle]] "The Last Dragon".

* ''VideoGame/ResidentEvilCodeVeronica'' has Rodrigo Juan Raval , an Umbrella jailer that releases Claire from her cell. Later on in the game, Claire's brother Chris meets him before he gets swallowed by the Gulp Worm. Whether you ditch Juan or attempt to save him, he still dies. A nearby room has a few gravestones bearing the Raval name, indicating that Juan was the last one of his bloodline and said bloodline is now gone.

* So does ''VideoGame/RuneScape''.

** Nex is the last of a race of unbelievable power, whatever that is... [[spoiler: It is revealed in the quest ''Fate of the Gods'' that Nex isn't the last her kind. She is a member of a race of [[HybridMonster Hybrid Monsters]] created by Zaros, called Zarytes or Nihils. Zaros considered the Nihils except for Nex to be a failure so he abandoned them on Freneskae. Nex was an exceptionally powerful Zaryte that Zaros uplifted by implanting a fragment of himself into her.]]

* At the end of VideoGame/ShadowOfTheColossus after Wander has slain all the other 15 Colossi, leaving only Malus as the last Colossus.

* Judd was this in the first ''VideoGame/Splatoon1'' after his scientist owner puts him into [[{{HumanPopsicle}} cryosleep]] to save him from the rising sea levels. When he wakes up, he has SleptThroughTheApocalypse. In the second game, he gets a clone in the form of Lil' Judd, with side material explaining that Lil' Judd would have been a backup if the cryosleep somehow failed.

* This ends up happening to [[spoiler: R.O.B.]] in ''[[VideoGame/SuperSmashBros Super Smash Bros. Brawl]]'''s ''VideoGame/TheSubspaceEmissary''. To hammer the point in, ''Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U'' gives each character a title in the Boxing Ring stage. [[spoiler:R.O.B.'s]] title? ''The Last of His Kind''.

* ''Videogame/TeamFortress2'':

* While Suika Ibuki of ''VideoGame/{{Touhou}}'' is not technically the last oni she fits this trope in its application, being the only oni not in hiding or underground after some unknown event many years before the timeline of the games. Indeed the events of ''Immaterial and Missing Power'' was Suika's attempt to revert this, intending to draw her former compatriots together again by throwing an endless series of parties.

* The title character of the UsefulNotes/ZXSpectrum game ''Xavior'' is scouring a HUGE underground research complex, trying to find DNA fragments so that the site's supercomputer can use them to resurrect his race.
