Mr T is not Mr T's stage name. While he was born Laurence Tureaud, he had his name legally changed in 1970 to Mr. T, after experiencing his older brother, who had fought in Vietnam, being called "boy" when he returned. T decided that he would make it compulsory for people to call him "mister" to avert that sort of racist treatment.
