* AbortedArc:
** When the nominators tried raiding Unfortunate Zorua's base to call them out for nominating Tier 0 and nearly causing the 2nd Great Destruction, they detonated it, leading them to believe that [[spoiler:they committed suicide when in truth, they sent themself to their dimension and fell into a coma]]. Their robot assistant [=N0-V4=] picked up where they left off and drank literal [[invoked]] NightmareFuel to evolve into a robotic Zoroark and start its own villain league. However, they weren't seen again after they bombed Bale's base, which he repaired shortly after, and the Zorua who showed up for the Second Reboot Nominator Games (Season 100) was assumed to be an alt by the others.
** After the Second Reboot Nominator Games, [[VideoGame/Persona3 Minato Arisato]] warned the nominators that Erebus was unleashed and would destroy all dimensions next [[RealLife Earth Prime]] year. However, the apocalypse didn't happen on the supposed day of destruction, and no one commented on it.
** After their run in Reboot Season 147, [[WebAnimation/Twelve2016 Thistle]] dropped by Elliot's residence and questioned the purpose of the Games, planning a rebellion to stop it for good. However, that didn't come to fruition since Thistle was never seen again.
** [[VideoGame/{{Nefarious}} Crow]] and his army invaded Tempest Zone to raid it, and the Tempest System attempted to trap them in a secret dungeon underneath it. The plot was then left hanging for several Earth Prime months, the fate of the Tempest System and their home {{uncertain|Doom}}, until they {{lampshade|Hanging}}d it the following day, as if the raid didn't happen.
* AcceptableBreaksFromCanon: Given that {{Alternate Universe}}s exist, some aspects of the canon universes are changed for flexibility in the [=RPs=].
** Franchise/{{Pokemon}}:
*** Pokémon are allowed to use more than four moves from all the possible moves they can learn, including the moves that were excluded starting in the Generation VIII games, and be creative in what they can do with their moveset, akin to [[Anime/PokemonTheSeries the anime.]] [[OriginalCharacter Fakemons]] such as the Original Dragon [[spoiler:(Vahirom)]] and fake {{Super Mode}}s/variants such as Scipion's Mega Zoroark form and Sunshine's Gigantamax Wooloo form are also allowed since there are multiple Pokémon Worlds that run on slightly different rules, but they don't show up often.
*** Some Pokémon such as Scipion, Aaron, and Freyja are capable of Mega Evolving without a Mega Stone since they found alternative ways to do so.
*** Evolution methods are taken from all aspects of the franchise, not just the main series. Normally, Eevee evolves into Umbreon via high friendship at night, but Cassiopeia evolved into one by [[VideoGame/PokemonMysteryDungeon offering a Lunar Ribbon to the Luminous Shrine.]] Some Pokémon also evolve going by how their Pokédex entries describe it, like how Yip and Yop were forcibly [[VideoGame/PokemonUltraSunAndUltraMoon fused with each other]] to evolve into a Vanilluxe named Yip-Yop.
*** Canonically, [[DistractedByTheSexy infatuation-inducing moves, Abilities, and items]] only affect Pokémon of the opposite gender of the user, but since Luna the Delcatty used Cute Charm to gain many admirers [[EvenTheGirlsWantHer including women]], it's implied that the effectivity of infatuation changes depending on the sexual/romantic orientation of the user and the target.
*** When R3 became a Rotom for Scipion's party, he could [[VoluntaryShapeshifting shapeshift into his various Rotom forms]] without needing to possess an appliance like in canon.
** While the VideoGame/{{Under|tale}}ground where most of 6k1's tributes come from takes place in the True Pacifist timeline, Undyne and Mettaton have access to their respective Genocide timeline-exclusive forms, Undyne the Undying and Mettaton NEO.
** After [[VideoGame/{{Deltarune}} Kris and Susie]] sealed the Eastern Fountain, Card Kingdom disappeared and its citizens turned into card and board game pieces in the unused classroom. But in CVG/ASAS, this Dark World was temporarily preserved by the Fountain of Darkness' magic surge until Kris transferred everyone from Card Kingdom to Castle Town. This explains how Ralsei went to Rouxls' shop in Card Castle to buy Power Stroke her watch party gift and how the other Darkners showed up in the Arena without turning into Light World items [[spoiler:or stone]] in between Chapters 1 and 2.
** Canonically, the Delta Warriors (and Noelle in Chapter 2) can only use their spells other than Kris's ACT command when they have enough [[ManaMeter Tension Points]], which is shared between them and starts at 0% in each battle, but in the [=RPs=], they can use them as early as the first round. They also have access to special spells that are canonically exclusive to certain bosses such as Kris's [[StatusBuff Courage]] (exclusive to King's fight) and Ralsei's [[BarrierWarrior [=FluffyGuard=]]] (exclusive to [[spoiler:Spamton NEO]]'s fight). Additionally, Noelle can summon an ice wall, something that she only canonically does [[spoiler:when defending herself in the [=SnowGrave=] Route]], and she can extend this to shield nearby allies.
** ''WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse'':
*** Only Pearl[[note]]the one loyal to 6k1 since AR Pearl is loyal to Bale[[/note]] is shown to use her gemstone to [[BagOfHolding store as many items as needed]], while it's unclear if this ability is exclusive to her gem kind or not. In ASAS, it's implied that most, if not ''all'' Gems are capable of doing this, since Peridot[[note]]same case as Pearl[[/note]], despite lacking most Gem abilities such as shapeshifting due to being created with fewer resources, can store her trash can lid, which she uses as a sled or hoverboard, in her gemstone, too. Also, the local delicacies of Beach City are used as healing items like in [[VideoGame/AttackTheLight the]] [[VideoGame/SaveTheLight Light]] [[VideoGame/UnleashTheLight Trilogy.]]
*** {{Sizeshifting}} is only showcased by Amethyst[[note]]also the one loyal to 6k1[[/note]] in the show, but in ASAS, all Gems except for Peridot can temporarily shrink themselves like her.
* ActuallyADoombot:
** Whenever [[Literature/TheHungerGames President Snow]] is killed by a tribute, it's actually a Snowclone that gets killed instead of the real him. That was until Billy secretly staged a rebellion in Reboot Season 70 to destroy the clones and have the real Snow placed in the Arena as the tributes' punching bag along with Alma Coin.
** In Reboot Season 40, Dave the Assassin gave Snow a tape, which was something to use against Valecor, before jumping off a cliff to his death. It turned out to be a [[Franchise/KingdomHearts Replica]] of himself.
** Whenever Ichigo Montoya shows up in the Arena when he's not a tribute, like when he fought the VideoGame/EliteBeatAgents in Reboot Season 113, it's actually an android version of him, which he made in light of tribute-nominator events happening more frequently.
* AdaptationalAngstUpgrade: In VideoGame/{{Deltarune}}, Lancer gladly takes over the throne as ruler of Card Kingdom after his [[AbusiveParents abusive father]] King gets overthrown/put to sleep, but in ASAS, he still has unresolved feelings for King despite being HappilyAdopted by Queen[[note]]though it's ambiguous if she's his biological mother[[/note]] and Rouxls Kaard. He gets jealous seeing other people who have reconciled with their parents or grandparents such as [[WesternAnimation/{{Encanto}} Mirabel]], who made amends with her Abuela after [[spoiler:Casita collapsed due to the family's instability caused by her strict parenting.]]
* AdaptationalExplanation: Explanations for the tributes' actions in seasons and their reasoning for committing some of them are naturally often given in the [=RPs=], especially for ''extremely'' out-of-character moments such as [[NiceGuy otherwise kind characters]] abruptly becoming [[CardCarryingVillain murderous card-carrying villains]] the minute the Bloodbath starts, why characters [[ForgotAboutHisPowers didn't use their powers to save themselves from fatal situations they could otherwise easily survive]] (such as characters who can fly not saving themselves from falling off or being thrown from a cliff, aquatic characters drowning in the water they already live in, etc.), and the like. Given how commonplace cloning tributes for seasons has become over time, the most common assumption is DuplicateDivergence, though other cases are frequently {{Hand Wave}}d as just the effects of the Arena brought about by the signal that subconsciously manipulates the tributes into doing what they do.
* AdaptationalHeroism: In VideoGame/{{Deltarune}}, it's implied that [[spoiler:Kris's heroic/kind actions aren't natural for them because it's actually their SOUL controlling them]], but in ASAS, they genuinely care about their friends. [[spoiler:It's possible that the SOUL is still influencing their actions, to Susie and Ralsei's concern after defeating Spamton with them, but they only know that "something about him shook Kris to the core", unaware of the truth.]]
* AdaptationalSexuality:
** Oftentimes, tributes in the Arena fall in love with other tributes even if they're [[IfItsYouItsOkay outside their canonical sexual orientation]] since [[EveryoneIsBi there are no restrictions as to whom they can feel attracted to]] as long as [[PaedoHunt the age gap doesn't violate the Watchlist]], though nominators are usually exceptions. Whether this persists after the season since it's primarily Arena influence varies between tributes.
** [[WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse Peridot]] is a non-Arena example. Canonically, she's only confirmed by WordOfSaintPaul to be aroace, but in ASAS, it's all but outright stated that she, indeed, identifies as such. She suspects that 6k1 is on the a-spectrum just like her, and after the 5th Reboot Nominator Games (Season 250), Peridot wears [[QueerColors a purple scarf]], not just to [[IdenticalTwinIDTag tell her apart from AR Peridot]] (who's loyal to Bale), but also to help 6k1 cope with her questioning of her sexual identity.
---> '''Peridot''': There's a reason why I'm not into [[RomanticFusion fusion]] like the other Gems, especially Ruby and Sapphire.
* AdaptationalWimp: As of VideoGame/{{Deltarune}} Chapter 2, Noelle Holiday[[spoiler:, after being afraid of Queen for most of it, stood up for herself to demand her to free her. However, Susie convinced Noelle after their adventure that everything that happened in Cyber World was just a dream, so she was back to being a coward in the Arena starting in Reboot Season 181. Then again, Noelle was pulled out of Queen's Mansion during the mission for that season, but her next appearance in Season 196 still had her freaking out. Noelle has since snapped out of it when she discovered the truth, and while she has become braver and more confident again, she still has her limits.]]
* AdaptationNameChange:
** [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Pinprick/Royal Pin]] in Reboot Season 113 is named Pokey Pierce in ASAS.
** [[VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddysSecurityBreach Burntrap]] in Reboot Seasons 240 and 247 is named ''Scorch''trap in ASAS.
* AddedAlliterativeAppeal:
** When Power was [[CannotSpitItOut desperately trying not to tell Ichi and Miranda directly that she suspects that 6k1 is aromantic/asexual]], she listed the other things [[NotSoDifferentRemark the DM had in common with CAC]], another aroace nominator, hoping they would get the hint.
---> '''Power''': They're both... '''a'''utistic, they have... '''a'''sphalt hair, they wear... '''a'''labaster clothes, they nominated... '''[[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} A]]'''[[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} sriel...]]
** In Season 290, [[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure Iggy]] bragged to the other tributes that he was the "big bad boss" of the Arena. [[VideoGame/DiceyDungeons The Inventor]] responded by saying that she "battled bigger badder bosses before."
* AerithAndBob:
** Besides the tributes having their fair share of unusual and ordinary names, the nominators have names such as 6k1, Gamechanger, Scipion, and Zanreo... and Dave, Billy, and Elliot.
** The Pokémon from the [[VideoGame/PokemonMysteryDungeon Mystery Dungeon]] Worlds have varying names, from James and Arthur to Persephone and Cerberus to... [[ADogNamedDog Lugia and Ho-Oh.]]
* AfterActionHealingDrama: Usually happens when a nominator is sent to the Science Center's Medical Department to recover from severe injuries or their revival after their time in the Arena.
** After being killed by Nightmare Scipion, 6k1 was sent to the Recovery Room. She missed out on the first half of Reboot Season 51 due to her coma, and [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Twilight Sparkle]] and [[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Toriel]] dropped everything to visit her.
** After the failed mission to storm Zorua's base, Dave collapsed from the wounds caused by the base's destruction. 6k1, with the help of her nominator friends, provided him first aid and sent him to the Medical Department. She then watched over him at the Recovery Room while his assistants and some of 6k1's friends paid him a visit.
** [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipisMagic Pow]][[Tropers/TroperNo9001 er]] [[AuthorAvatar Stroke]] then had her turn after the 2nd Reboot Nominator Games. She and 6k1 stayed in the same room, and their friends and family paid them a visit. Ichigo and Psychedelicate also visited them to make amends with each other, and also to comfort Power. The pony then woke up and burst into tears just after Ichi left, worried about him, but Dr. Rosie gave her her crystal ball so she could still talk to him. Power even refused to have her traumatic memories of the last season wiped because she didn't want to forget Ichi, fearing that her good memories with him might be erased by accident.
** 6k1's second post-Nominator Games trip to the Recovery Room was more dramatic than the first, as she was distraught when Dave didn't visit her or even join her in Reboot Season 150. As usual, her friends and family comforted her and helped her learn to accept that she can press on without him, but the [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaBreathOfTheWild Waterblight Ganon]] told her the harsh truth that Dave can't always be there for her.
* TheAlibi:
** [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Twilight]] used a copy of Princess Luna's letter detailing the mission at [[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Asriel's]] dream to clear her name after "Rodriguez" accused her of invading the Alebrijes' Land of Dreams to steal the Hypnos-Stone. [[spoiler:Unfortunately, "Rodriguez" turned out to be Blood Moon in disguise, and by the time Twilight returned to court with the letter, he had already escaped to the castle's basement while Coatl, who put Twilight and Joaquin on trial for the accusation, succumbed to the [[Franchise/{{Metroid}} X Parasite]] that Blood Moon secretly unleashed onto him and died to it.]]
** When 6k1 heard of Blood Moon accusing her and most of the other nominators of [[spoiler:killing his BloodBrother Fire Eyes]], she was quick to point out that during the alleged crime, she spent the past few days by herself and then was hospitalized for sharing her clone's injury she got at Hazemaster's Museum. [[spoiler:Fire Eyes then appeared to the rescue teams at the Library, alive and well, further proving the nominators' innocence.]]
* AlternateSelf: Besides AU versions of tributes that get regularly nominated, some of the nominators and their assistants have AU versions of themselves. Power Stroke, 6k1's [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic pony]] counterpart, is one of the most active alt selves, followed by Tay, Stanford Stokes' [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Yoshi]] counterpart. Stanford is confirmed to have more AU versions of himself than the other nominators and assistants (''[[ExaggeratedTrope millions]]'', in fact), but they're all captured by his EvilCounterpart [[spoiler:to be absorbed by him so he'll be the only Stanford in the Multiverse.]]
* AlternateUniverse: Many tributes come from alternate versions of canon universes, and some of them are just like in canon but with a few key differences.
** All of Vengeful Bale's tributes come from AR worlds, and they were all affected by the Multiversal Convergence. AR [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Equestria]], in particular, is mostly like the Equestria where 6k1 nominates her tributes, except that [[spoiler:Grogar is really Grogar instead of Discord in disguise. Tirek, Chrysalis, and Cozy Glow also defected from the Legion and were put under community service after the final battle instead of being turned into stone]].
*** There's ''another'' version of Equestria where the Changeling Kingdom's hive was destroyed, but the Changelings such as Thorax and Pharynx, the latter who's allied with Scipion, remained unreformed until around Reboot Season 162.
** The VideoGame/{{Under|tale}}ground, also where some of 6k1's tributes come from, had its barrier broken like in the True Pacifist Route, but Asgore opened it for tourism after hearing that the Hunger Games was opened to the Multiverse, and the monsters chose to stay there. The monsters are also fully aware of Frisk's [[MentalTimeTravel SAVE Powers]] since they presumably used them in the Arena in the OT. They're also aware of Gaster's existence since he showed up in the Arena a few times in the OT and Reboot Timelines, but he remains an enigma to them, even Sans and Papyrus.
** The [[Literature/HarryPotter Wizarding World]], again where some of 6k1's tributes come from, [[TheUnmasquedWorld had the International Statute of Secrecy revised to allow witches and wizards to participate in the Games]] as it was originally a Muggle sport and they were banned from them. This was part of the Ministry of Magic's efforts to forge and improve interuniversal and wizard-Muggle relations respectively, but there's still prejudice between them, particularly with the Muggles from their universe. Because of this, the Gamemakers are required to edit the broadcast for Muggle viewing while Muggles from other universes must keep their visits to the Wizarding World[[note]]they're given magical protection beforehand but their electronic gadgets still malfunction upon entry[[/note]] a secret from the locals, lest they have their memories wiped.
** Both [[Franchise/TouhouProject Gensokyo]] and [[VideoGame/LenEn Mugenri]], where Billy nominated all its denizens, had their barriers to the outside world broken, allowing free travel and access to technology.
** June's universe, loosely based on that of ''Roleplay/WeHaveAllBecomePokemon'', is treated as a parallel universe to the RP's existing ''VideoGame/PokemonMysteryDungeon'' universe, with characters from the former who have appeared implied to not have a presence in the universe of the latter and vice versa, with the exceptions of Skyler and Dess, Scipion's counterpart in June's PMD World and vice-versa, at least to the knowledge of the characters in-universe. However, Dess is revealed to have actually come from yet another PMD World that's neither June's nor Scipion's, as Millie, who came from said universe, was looking for them alongside her rescue after Dess ended up there due to a space-time distortion in their [[VideoGame/PokemonLegendsArceus Hisui-like]] home universe.
** Two ''Franchise/SpyroTheDragon'' continuities are represented in the RP, specifically those of ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfSpyro'' (most notably through Dark Cynder, who is part of the Dark Sisterhood) and [[VideoGame/SpyroReignitedTrilogy the Reignited Trilogy]] (which is most heavily affiliated with Eye-Sicle and where [[WesternAnimation/BigCityGreens the Greens]] and [[WesternAnimation/{{Amphibia}} Anne and the Plantars]] are currently hiding away from the Dark Stanford and his goons). This was lampshaded in Reboot S181, which Reignited Spyro and Dark Cynder both appeared in, and Spyro did not recognize Cynder (but nonetheless felt a sense of deja vu upon seeing her) while Cynder herself quickly deduced that this wasn't "her" Spyro.
** All of 6k1's tributes from the ''[[Literature/TheMagicSchoolBus Magic School Bus]]'' Universe are from the original show, with [[WesternAnimation/TheMagicSchoolBusRidesAgain the reboot]] taking place in an alternate timeline where Ms. Frizzle's sister Fiona replaced her as their teacher. None of the Friz Kids are aware of this since their ''Rides Again'' counterparts have yet to appear in the Games[[note]]not counting their technical appearances in Massive Group Tributes such as EVERYTHING[[/note]], but 6k1 [[LockedOutOfTheLoop keeps their existence a secret from them.]]
** The [[WesternAnimation/LiloAndStitchTheSeries Experiments]] formally introduced in ''Anime/{{Stitch}}'' [[AdaptationalEarlyAppearance are activated in the timeline of]] ''WesternAnimation/LiloAndStitchTheSeries''[[note]]technically, they're mentioned in the credits of ''WesternAnimation/LeroyAndStitch'', presumably already activated[[/note]], although they [[InSpiteOfANail retain their personalities from the former.]] This, along with Stitch still living with Lilo, implies that the events of the anime haven't happened yet or take place in an AU [[spoiler:because there, it's revealed that Lilo grew up, went to college, and had a daughter after she and Stitch got separated]].
** Even Panem itself has drastically changed after the Original Rebellion against Snow since his death was intervened by GASK when they opened it to the Multiverse. After he was overthrown again in the second Rebellion secretly organized by Billy, Paylor was elected as president and is currently developing the country for the better. She also made travel between Districts unrestricted, but District 13 chose to remain autonomous.\\
\\
However, Ichi once flew his jet from District 10 to District 12 during Snow's regime but didn't get caught. 6k1 was also able to evacuate to Ichi's bunker[[note]]which was in District 10 while the Library was in the Capitol Arena[[/note]] when the Library was set on fire and again for Villain Month despite the restrictions. This implies that either the nominators are more privileged in travel than the average Panemian or Ichi had the tech to avoid detection.
** The universe from where [[VideoGame/LibraryOfRuina W Corp]] (and subseuquently, The City) comes from is already identified as a different universe from the one where Panem comes from, but in itself, said universe is implicitly different from the canon City shown in Creator/ProjectMoon's works - as Cassie mentions in a message implicitly revealing that [[Webcomic/{{Wonderlab}} Rose]], as well as [[VideoGame/LimbusCompany Ryoshu and Hong Lu]], work in W Corp, unlike their canon counterparts (who works for VideoGame/LobotomyCorporation and Limbus Company B respectively). The latter two cases are supported by said W Corp versions being available as [[AlternateSelf Identities]] in Limbus Company (the game).
* AlwaysIdenticalTwins: Cecil and Celine, and Penny and Jenny, are two pairs of identical Pokémon twins. While Cecil and Celine are [[HalfIdenticalTwins half-identical]] Obstagoons, Penny and Jenny are Vaporeons, and it's unknown if the latter two chose to evolve into the same Eeveelution or if it was a lucky accident or coincidence.
* AmbiguouslyBi: In Reboot Season 162, [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Sky Stinger]] fell for the [[VideoGame/FireEmblemThreeHouses Death Knight]], and then got a [[SomethingElseAlsoRises wingboner]] and kissed all the members of Music/MonstaX while thinking of his possibly romantic feelings for his ChildhoodFriend Vapor Trail, who [[PlotTriggeringDeath got a fatal heart attack during the Bloodbath.]] Sky's still [[FictionalFanRealCelebrity a fan of the K-POP group]], but it's unknown if he developed a CelebCrush on them outside the Arena, as his bisexuality may or may not have been part of the Arena's influence on him. When 6k1 asked Princess Cadance about him, [[TheUnReveal she refused to disclose how the discussion regarding his alleged bisexuality went.]]
* AmbiguouslyHuman: A variation with some of the nonhuman characters who aren't quite the species they claim to be:
** Dark Stanford appears physically identical to "our" Stanford, an anthropomorphic arctic fox, but is described as having flecks of multi-colored fur and surrounded by dark energy. [[spoiler:It turns out that his current form is kept stable with his bowtie, and without it, he transforms into his true form: an EldritchAbomination that was born from the Voidlands and corrupts anything near him within range.]]
** Kelby the [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Yellow Yoshi]] is stated ''not'' to be a Mushroom Kingdom native and that he [[FisherKingdom assumes the form of one]] when he visits it. His homeworld is yet to be revealed, and since he travels a lot, he has more knowledge of the Multiverse than the average Yoshi. A flashback shows what he was like as a child, [[TheUnReveal but his true form wasn't revealed.]] [[spoiler:After Blood Moon absorbed some of Kelby's atoms and disguised himself as him, his true form was revealed to be an anthropomorphic yellow spotted gecko with no powers whatsoever.]]
** In Season 259, [[WesternAnimation/SpaceGoofs Stereo]] thought that Chame-Cola was an alien just like them. Chame-Cola claimed that she's just a bottle of coke with shapeshifting powers, but it's possible that she was infused with the DNA of a shapeshifting alien.
* AmbiguousSituation:
** In one of 6k1's dreams, [[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Chara]] confronted her for neglecting to attend Asriel's first day of school because she spent the whole day away from him discovering her identity as a-spec. Chara said that 6k1 was "lucky" that nothing bad happened to Asriel that day, but it could've been worse because Dark Stanford could've [[spoiler:turned him back into Flowey]] behind 6k1's back and forced him to find another Altford for him. While Light Stanford is revealed to have ''millions'' of {{Alternate Sel|f}}ves, it's unknown if there ''was'' an Altford from the real Underground who was captured by him offscreen, or if they simply don't exist because a few worlds such as Tempest Zone are confirmed to ''not'' have an Altford.
** [[Roleplay/WeHaveAllBecomePokemon Delilah Langley]] once dated a male Goodra, but broke up with him because she realized [[IncompatibleOrientation she's a lesbian.]] It's left ambiguous if that Goodra is [[MythologyGag Goobert]] or another unnamed one.
* AnimateInanimateObject: While the Games are no stranger to sentient objects fighting in the Arena, many others were brought to life by Star Energy, which came from the meteors that crashed on a hilltop just after Mr. Star's belated birthday party there.
* AppearanceIsInTheEyeOfTheBeholder: A few tributes manifest themselves as different characters depending on who's looking at them, and because of this, [[YouCannotGraspTheTrueForm nobody knows what their true forms look like.]] Due to their variable forms, they are designated with codenames based on [[EmpathicShapeshifter the factors that determine their appearance to the viewers.]]
** "Yonah Originum Ursprung" aka "YOU" assumes the form of the nominator looking at them, like a mirror, but to a non-nominator, they see "YOU" rapidly cycling between all the nominators at once.
** "Anything" manifests as whoever the viewer is thinking of at the moment, so their appearance changes quickly if the viewer thinks of somebody else while watching them.
** "Your Favorite Character" and "Your Most Hated Character" aka "YFC" and "YMHC" take on the forms of the one that the viewer loves and hates the most, respectively.
** "Whoever's the Funniest/Most Tragic/Most Awesome in This Event", aka "Comedy/Tragedy/Awesome" also relies on whoever the viewer is thinking of at the moment for their appearance, but their form shifts frequently and is dependent on the event they're involved in.
* ArcVillain:
** Valecor and Timewrecker for almost the entirety of ''Convergence''.
** The Legion of Doom from early ''Convergence'' until Reboot Season 99 in ''ASAS''.
* ArtificialLimbsAreStronger:
** After [[WesternAnimation/GravityFalls Bill Cipher]] bit off their hand, [[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Frisk]] had it replaced with a prosthetic by Alphys. It's painted to look exactly like their other hand, and they can [[BarrierWarrior summon an anti-dark magic barrier around themself]] with it.
** Timewrecker lost his right arm to Detective Gamechanger during their fist fight in a warehouse and had it replaced with a PowerFist by Valecor.
* AtomicFBomb: Scipion dropped one when he got disqualified for getting trapped in the [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Minus World]] in the 2nd Reboot Nominator Games. [[VideoGame/{{Deltarune}} Susie]] also let out a loud one when AR [[VideoGame/FireEmblemAwakening Lucina]], as a [[Franchise/{{Pokemon}} Shiny Gardevoir]], defeated her Krookodile form and sent her flying during the Pokémon tournament at Scipion's party.
* BackForTheDead: Activities related to the Webking House [[ChuckCunninghamSyndrome went unknown]] for many seasons, last seen involving Libre being revived after he ended up in the Arena in Reboot Season 167, and other things. [[spoiler:By the time we see them again, most of them have been knocked out as Libre sets off a bomb that kills all of them except him and Lily, severing [[Podcast/TheMagnusArchives The Entities]] from the world.]]
* BadDate:
** Back when she was working in her universe's local library, Wanda Banks once went on a Valentine's date, but she [[PowerIncontinence lost control of her powers]] and accidentally destroyed the restaurant she and her date were in. He dumped her and she never saw him ever since.
** PlayedForLaughs in the [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Las Pegasus]] Arc when [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Wendy O. Koopa]] dragged Alex into a date amidst the battle between the heroes and her brothers. WesternAnimation/{{Jabberjaw}} had to rescue Alex from the food court since he was trapped inside Wendy's water bubble, [[WhyDidItHaveTobeSnakes his worst fear.]]
* BagOfSpilling: Any powers or weapons the tributes acquire in the Arena can't be carried over to their next season. Originally, they can't use them outside since it was illegal, but Paylor legalized it after Reboot Season 118 under Hans' request. This revision only applies to powers and self-crafted weapons, as weapons provided by the sponsors are Arena property.
* BallroomBlitz: [[spoiler:Happened twice in Scipion's party, once when [[ComicBook/{{Shazam}} Mr. Mind]] secretly transformed Bale into a [[Franchise/{{Godzilla}} Skullcrawler]] during the latter's battle with [[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure Giorno]], and again when [[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Flowey]] crashed the whole tournament to exact revenge on 6k1, believing that she abandoned him for the party.]]
* BatheHerAndBringHerToMe: How Tabby was prepared to be sacrificed to Rubyfrost by Akumo to free him from his deal with the latter: by having Rubyfrost's handmaidens wash her before forcing her to wear a see-through dress. Noire assisted him with the preparations, secretly trying to help Tabby to escape because of her feelings for her.
* BeachEpisode: Just before Reboot Season 223, Ally organized a vacation to the [[Franchise/FindingNemo Great Barrier Reef]] on behalf of 6k1, as it was her treat to Dave after their reunion, but she had to stay behind with the [[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Dreemurrs]] after [[{{Patricide}} Asriel murdered Asgore]] in his [[Franchise/{{Pokemon}} Primal]] [[SuperpoweredEvilSide form]] in Season 220. Ally and her guests enjoyed themselves at the beach and also dove into the GBR to meet with Nemo and his family and friends and search for buried treasure.
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: [[WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddParents Jorgen von Strangle]] warned Ichi and Power that his wish-granting abilities [[YourMagicIsNoGoodHere might not work as intended outside his universe]], as he showed up at the latter's home in the [[UsefulNotes/{{Philippines}} Fillyppines]], which is in the same universe as Equestria, to scold them for breaking Da Rules by using a You-Doo Doll to force Snow to reduce Villain Month to just Villain Week. Timewrecker, overhearing the conversation using his advanced tech, mocked them for believing that they can just wish themselves out of trouble.
* TheBeforetimes: The timeline that occurred before the Great Destruction is called the Original Timeline, which encompassed the first 250 seasons of the Multiversal Hunger Games.
* BigBadEnsemble: Across both threads, there have been various villainous organizations that have gone out against the nominators more than once, most notably the Legion of Doom, Timewrecker's crew and the Dark Nominators, the League of Evil, ???'s [[spoiler:(actually Dark Bale's)]] Legion, the Gospel of Rubyfrost, "Scattered Brain" and the [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaBreathOfTheWild Blight Ganons]], the Infinite Darkness, the Dark Sisterhood, and Dark Stanford's legion.
* BiggerOnTheInside:
** The Arena looks like it has the standard dimensions on the outside, but inside, it's big enough to house infinitely many tributes, even those larger than Earth, and host a wide array of environments. Strangely, people outside the Forcefield can see what's inside, but to them, its boundaries look smaller than they actually are.
** The Science Center's Resurrection Theater is magically fortified so that its interior can expand to fit giant patients without affecting the exterior. Despite this, the medical staff still temporarily shrink their patients or visitors to minimize the damage.
* BigNo: Power screamed this at the top of her lungs when [[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Toriel]] played a [[TabletopGame/{{UNO}} Wild Draw 4 Card]] on her during Bale's party.
* BigWhat:
** In the interlude between Reboot Seasons 44 and 45, Dave and his travel group for Detective Gamechanger's party all had this reaction when 6k1 told them that they were running late.
** In the interlude between Reboot Seasons 47 and 48, [[Literature/TheMagicSchoolBus Carlos's classmates]] all had this reaction when he announced that he might be sent back to the Arena for the summer.
* {{Bizarrchitecture}}:
** CG's 12-floor apartment complex has Escher-style rooms with stairs that move every which way, walls that twist inside-out, and floating tiles that can be used as improvised stairs. It also has an elevator that takes visitors directly to the floors they want, but it appears extremely rarely.
** The buildings in the Alebrijes' Land of Dreams bend and twist in impossible ways thanks to the laws of physics not applying to the DreamLand.
* BizarreSeasons: Due to [[WebcomicTime the time dissonance between Panem Standard Time and Earth Prime Time]], the seasons in Panem change within a few days instead of every three months, leading to situations when it suddenly snows the next day, after a day with summery weather. This is justified in-universe by climate change severely affecting the post-apocalyptic continent, but [[NoEndorHolocaust the environmental damage brought about by the rapid change in weather is glossed over]].
* BodyDouble:
** Over the course of the Games, the nominators eventually decided to use digital clones of their tributes to protect them from the horrors of the Arena. These clones act exactly like their originals and the memories and powers they acquire can be transferred to them if they wish.
*** Starting sometime during Bale's party, Dave uses [[VideoGame/KingdomHeartsCoded data recreation]] for some of his tributes so the real deals won't get traumatized in the Arena. Billy, inspired by him, also uses them for his tributes.
*** Starting in Reboot Season 118, Bale employs [[Series/UltramanMebius Maquette copies]] of the tributes he intends to nominate, which he programs to fight in the games.
*** Despite all the benefits they have over nominating tributes "traditionally", 6k1 refused to transition to them because she believed that they were [[ExpendableClone "digital meat shields"]] only designed to rob the originals of their placements. In truth, she was so used to nominating them the old way she struggled with coming to terms with the new method. Dave, who pioneered it, tried but failed to convince her to change, though Hans had better luck when he taught her to accept it but not forget the good things of the past. It wasn't until Power and [[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Alphys]] built the Cloning Capsule for her, which was specially designed to ease her with the transition by preserving the impact of almost all the events, that she was finally convinced to data clone her tributes.
*** Starting in Reboot Season 143, Stanford built a cloning remote at the behest of Eye-Sicle to summon exact duplicates of his tributes. They disappear instantly if they're hit hard enough, and their memories are recorded in the remote.
** Ichi deploys android versions of himself whenever rogue tributes try to kill him or he gets forced into the Arena due to certain events. 6k1, Billy, and Eye-Sicle eventually followed suit by using bodyguard clones to protect themselves the same way, though the first one's willing to have her clone's memories transferred to her to "preserve the authenticity" of the event. An exception to 6k1's case is when Data 6k1 was forcibly summoned by her [[Franchise/{{Pokemon}} Wooloo]] in Reboot Season 223 and brainwashed into hacking the Control Room to sic all the tributes registered in their databases on the [[VideoGame/FireEmblemThreeHouses Black Eagles]]. The original 6k1 was too traumatized by the event to have that memory transferred to her.
* {{Bowdlerise}}: In-universe, Billy seeks to have the seasons censored for his kid tributes, following his new policy at the time to protect them besides using data clones. 6k1 and Tabby, however, objected to this, the former fearing that he might demand the Capitol to broadcast it to the entire Multiverse and the latter calling him out [[ThinkOfTheChildren for his overprotectiveness.]]
* BraveTheRidePlot: One of the subplots of the [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Las Pegasus]] Arc involved Power conquering her fear of rollercoasters that stemmed from a bad foalhood memory of her mom cancelling the family carnival trip after Power got sick on the ride when her cousins dared her to ride it. Inspired by her dream where Ichi helped her get over it, Power invited him to ride with her, and they both enjoyed it in the end. Aaron also rode with Lucian, not wanting him to ride alone, but the former ended up fainting from the speed while the latter enjoyed it thanks to the pills he took for his weak heart.
* BreakTheCutie:
** Poor [[Literature/TheMagicSchoolBus Mikey]] had it rough in the Games. His outings in the Battle Royale and Death Battle of Reboot Seasons 52 and 73, respectively, weren't his best, emotionally speaking.
*** He was doing just fine in the first half of Season 52. But then he lost his friend [[Franchise/FindingNemo Nemo]], accidentally killed his father with his new powers, and got himself into two fights in a row. By the end of the first week, he tried summoning the [[Film/Aladdin2019 Genie]] for his final wish, which was implied to be that he wanted to go home already, but cried when he couldn't because the latter had been killed by [[Franchise/KagerouProject Shuuya Kano]] earlier. Tuxedo [[Franchise/{{Kirby}} Meta Knight]][[note]]whom he didn't know was possessed by Snow after Kano transferred the former's soul to him[[/note]] then invited him to his camp as an apology for fighting him that day. [[HopeSpot This gave Mikey a chance to repay him by remodeling his camp]], only for them to have a [[PlotMandatedFriendshipFailure falling out due to a misunderstanding on Tux's part]] about Mikey's {{Patricide}}, resulting in Tux kicking him out of his camp and torturing him alongside [[Anime/DragonBallSuper Goku Black]].
*** Things didn't look up for him in Season 73, either. While he had bonding moments with BTS early on, he was [[SuperPersistentPredator constantly pursued for several days by Alatreon]], who tried killing him. While trying to escape the dragon's clutches, Mikey was concerned about BTS when they began [[SanitySlippage losing their sanity]] after being tortured by the Legion of Doom. After having his hand bitten of by Alatreon while trying to appease it with food, he bumped into [[WesternAnimation/LiloAndStitchTheSeries Kernel]], who [[InnocentlyInsensitive unwittingly offended him]] when he brought up the dragon winning the triathlon he competed in the other night. This stressed out Mikey so much that he killed [[WebAnimation/RedVsBlue Sarge's]] cat the next day just to vent, but Alatreon found that so unforgivable it [[KarmicDeath punished the boy by killing him.]]
** Like his schoolmate in the aforementioned seasons, Ralphie also had it rough in Season 62. After losing his classmate Arnold to [[TabletopGame/MagicTheGathering Daretti]] in the Bloodbath, he hosted a FanConvention in memory of him and wished that he went to Billy's Business School with him. Ralphie also bottled up his emotions until he took them out on [[VideoGame/{{Smite}} Bellona]] [[DisproportionateRetribution by killing her for taking too long to fix the ferris wheel.]] He then confessed at [[VideoGame/MarioPlusRabbidsKingdomBattle Dabbing Luigi's]] [[TropaholicsAnonymous Tribute Support Group]] about his feelings throughout the season, even saying sorry to 6k1 for venting on her by killing [[VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosUltimate Dharkon]] in Season 36, but despite their best efforts to comfort him, [[FromBadToWorse he was still a sobbing mess thanks to the]] [[VideoGame/TheSims Tragic Clown.]] Unfortunately, Ralphie met his tragic end when he failed to escape the environmental hazards in the [[VideoGame/SuperSmashBros Final Destination]] Arena Event, causing him to fall one place short of a podium finish.
** While Power went through trauma in the first four Nominator Games, she was put through a wringer in the 2nd one in the Reboot. She was severely wracked with grief when she witnessed Ichi being brutally murdered by [[SiblingMurder his own sister, Psyche,]] and the pony [[DrowningMySorrows drowned her sorrows]] to try relieving herself of her temptation to avenge him. It didn't work, and she was reduced to tears again when she saw [[Roleplay/TropersTheSeries TTS]]!Alivia [[HopeSpot reviving Ichi... only for him to shrivel up and die again.]] Power even started ignoring 6k1's concerns for her, and tried making amends with Psyche by making a crystal sculpture of themselves... [[YankTheDogsChain only for Psyche to reject it out of heartbreak.]] Power then met her tragic end when she [[TragicMonster mutated into a horrific dragon-pony hybrid after drinking a tainted energy drink]], and was put out of her misery by Sailor Tardis.
* BrickJoke:
** When Power planned to invite [[VideoGame/{{Deltarune}} Ralsei]] to her watch party for Reboot Season 61 along with Ichigo, the latter thought of doing his best [[Literature/HarryPotter Hagrid]] impression when they met... and he did exactly that during the party itself.
---> '''Ichigo''': Yer a wizard, Harry.
---> '''Ralsei''': ''[looks at him with a derped expression on his face]'' Who's Harry?
** After learning from Ichigo that a desperate 6k1 had seriously considered turning herself into a Starble while attempting to communicate with Mimi, Power contemplated drawing a Starble-ized version of the Database Manager. Come their watch party for Season 61, she does just that.
** Just before Reboot Season 65 began, Ichi tried guessing Power's [[YouMeanXMas Nightmare Night]] costume, and predicted that she'd go as Ralsei. Three seasons later, he was right.
** During the [[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Hotland]] Mission, Tabby suggested to Muffet a Spider Donut recipe that uses spider Franchise/{{Pokemon}} as one of the ingredients. When the Multiversal War began, Muffet stocked up on rations which included Joltik pastries.
** In the 2nd Reboot Nominator Games (Season 100), 6k1 came across a sign that said: "Eating carpet extremely prohibited". She quickly realizes that Mimi might've eaten the one in her basement just as she said that, and it turned out to be the case when the Starble apologized for it after the season.
** Before he and Power left for the [[Franchise/SpyroTheDragon Dragon Realms]] to rescue [[FreakyFridayFlip Wanda-in-Cleo's-body]], Ralsei, who was in Power's body at the time, told Ichi that Susie would love to wear the replica of [[VideoGame/{{Smite}} Ares's]] armor Ichi made for Power. Susie confirmed just that when she called them when they arrived at the Peace Keepers Homeworld... but she didn't want to wear the armor with the Twin Ribbon, which was originally Power's, that Ralsei wore with it.
** When [[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Asriel]] met CAC's VideoGame/RushingBeat friends, he mispronounced Elfin's name as "[[VideoGame/KirbyAndTheForgottenLand Elfli]]''[[VideoGame/KirbyAndTheForgottenLand lin]]''". He mixed up the names again when he said goodbye to the real Elfilin after Bale's Christmas party.
** While Power was seeing her family off to be evacuated to Belissima to hide from Dark Stanford, Ichi idly wondered if 6k1 liked sheep more than goats since it appeared she had nominated several more of the former than the latter. The next day, Ichi asked 6k1 just that, and 6k1 clarified that while she nominated just as many sheep as goats at the time, she likes the latter more.
* CampfireCharacterExploration: On the way to GC's base for Billy's party, Power and some of 6k1's tributes set up camp in a forest clearing, where they exchanged stories about their adventures. It's also revealed there that 6k1 had a problem with "tribute theft", or when someone else nominates her tributes, causing her to feel hurt, especially if they make the Hall of Fame under their new nominator.
* CastFullOfGay: Besides the canonically LGBT+ tributes who are Arena regulars, the two [=RPs=] have large casts of [[OriginalCharacter original LGBT+ characters who play a major or semi-major role]]:
** Among the nominators, 6k1, Zanreo, CAC, and some members of the Tempest System are a-spec, Psyche and Bale are bi, Tabby is a lesbian, Scipion is "not straight" and prefers not to find a partner, while Kafka is nonbinary and goes by any pronouns.
** Among the supporting ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}}'' cast, James, Arthur, and Nick are in a gay polyamorous relationship, Ribbons is a trans woman, Shelley and Shelby are lesbians, Dinah is bi and her spouse Benji is a genderless but male-identifying shapeshifter who's fine with assuming different genders in other forms, Skyler and Dess prefer not to use gender labels and are fine with any pronouns, while June is demisexual.
* CasualDangerDialogue:
** Being used to the harsh environment of [[Franchise/{{Metroid}} ZDR]], Fire Eyes casually informed the rescuers of its weather.
---> "The storm is a bit stronger than usual, I give you this..."
** During the attempted breach into Hanubia, Tenn casually asked Arthur and Nick if they're having fun beating up Raven Beak and Dark Stanford's army.
* CatUpATree: When [[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Asgore and Asriel]] trained the Fire Department, which was composed of Woshuas, they assigned them to rescue a Temmie stuck up a tree in Snowdin for the last part of the training for the day. Toriel suggested that they should practice a rescue mission actually involving fire, but Asgore explained that they were teaching the Woshuas how to reach high places, an essential skill in firefighting.
* TheCavalryArrivesLate:
** As the rescue team tried defeating the [[Franchise/{{Metroid}} Queen Metroid]] and her swarm during the Wednesday Mission, Greta calls Wednesday that she'd try busting him out of the hive. She only arrived just after the Metroid hatchling sucked out his bracer's energy under the Queen's orders, destroying it and freeing him from Dark Stanford's control.
** At the climax of the Phoebe Arc, the [[Franchise/{{Pokemon}} Legendary Pokémon]] of June's world prepared themselves to punish Evil Phoebe for releasing [[spoiler:Vahirom]] and threatening to destroy the world together. However, they only arrived after [[spoiler:Vahirom]] was defeated because it took them a long time to gather everyone.
* CellphonesAreUseless:
** While they were imprisoned in Scipion's makeshift lair, [[VideoGame/{{Deltarune}} Kris]] tried calling Susie after they saw Scipion use an electronic device to check his Cooking "School" in the Arena. Susie wasn't able to answer the call because her phone was knocked into a mud puddle during her fight with Onox in the Gurgling Swamp. Alphys then tried calling Kris to tell them that her team's on the way, only for Kris's phone to die.
** The eldritch creature that turned the shack into a labyrinth and trapped an alternate [[VideoGame/{{Deltarune}} Berdly]] and [[WesternAnimation/SouthPark Pip Pirrip]] inside jammed all communications with its energy. Berdly Prime's[[note]]the one loyal to 6k1[[/note]] Smart Scouter and phone [[SuddenLackofSignal malfunctioned when he and the Expanded Delta Warriors entered the maze.]]
** While [[spoiler:infiltrating Belissima's realm as "Kelby"]], Blood Moon tried calling his comrade Fire Eyes for any updates from him, but he didn't respond because [[spoiler:[[Franchise/{{Metroid}} Proteus Ridley]] ripped out his communicator during his battle with him.]]
* CerebusSyndrome: While ''Convergence'' still has some comedic moments like in the main thread, things took a dark turn when Villain Month happened, where the villains were free to pull off nefarious deeds without the heroes stopping them. As a result, many nominators such as 6k1, Power, Ichi, and Psyche went into hiding while the others were exploring the Voidlands, but even then they were still affected to varying degrees.
* ChainedHeat: Group tributes can't separate from each other since the invisible tribute barrier will harmlessly zap them if they try doing so. The maximum distance varies DependingOnTheWriter, but it's generally big enough to allow some long-range combat with others, but not too big to let them separate within the barrier so easily.
* ChekhovsGunman:
** The [[Franchise/{{Metroid}} Chozo Ghost]] who appeared in Season 252 is revealed to be [[spoiler:Brave Spear, Blood Moon's [[TheLostLenore lost lover]] and the former leader of his squad, whom Blood Moon was forced to kill when he was infected by an X Parasite]]. The Chozo Ghost confronted Knox at Durango-100 in Season 264 to make him relive his memories, and [[spoiler:Brave Spear blamed himself for failing to protect Blood Moon from the X, which turned him into the insane, ruthless warrior he is in the present.]]
** [[Ride/JourneyIntoImagination Figment]] appeared as one of several dragons in a group tribute consisting of multiple dragon characters from Creator/{{Disney}} media nominated by Eye-Sicle's Lair, without serving any plot relevance at the time. However, [[spoiler:it eventually turns out that Figment and his creator, the Dreamfinder, were the ones who inspired Kay and Tay's mysterious friend Kelby to keep working on his dimensional hopper after a chance meeting with them when Kelby was a child, leading to Kelby exploring the Multiverse in search of the duo to thank them and eventually landing in the Mushroom Kingdom where he made his new friends.]]
* ChildrenForcedToKill: Two episodes of "Future of Panem" involve President Snow forcing children to kill people they adored such as Literature/WinnieThePooh and Santa Claus. Another had him forcing a child to kill his father because the latter opposed Snow.
* ChristmasLightChaos: Just before Season 251, [[WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse Peridot]] tripped on some Christmas lights on the way to meet 6k1, which got tangled in her head. She struggled with removing them and had to participate in the season stuck with them.
* CoaxThemOutOfTheCloset:
** [[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Frisk]] unwittingly encouraged CAC to come out as aro/ace for the 5th Reboot Nominator Games by telling him to "[[BeYourself be [himself].]]" They said it to help him be comfortable with his shapeshifting and assumed that he'd present himself in his default form for the season, but [[ExactWords neither Frisk nor 6k1 expected him to come out as well.]]
** When 6k1 came out to [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Princess Cadance]] as a questioning a-spec person, she was unsure of whether or not to come out in public like CAC because she was overwhelmed by her self-discovery and she believed that she should hide it like him out of fear of prejudice. Cadance helped her come to terms with it and encouraged her to come out to her loved ones, but ''only'' if she is ready for it, and that it's still her choice if she wants to. Ally also gifted her aro/ace rings for her birthday so she can subtly express her identity while she's working on coming out to her loved ones personally, and 6k1 decided to wear them despite the risks of being outed for it.
* CoincidentalDodge: When [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Twilight]] was [[spoiler:forced to wear the Dark Bracer by "Rodriguez" in the Alebrijes' Land of Dreams]], she had no idea how to operate it. Neither was Spike when he saw it appear on her body in the waking world, but since he couldn't manually remove it, he decided to tinker with it to discover its functions. While this caused several accidents at Canterlot Castle, this somehow helped Twilight dodge most of [[VideoGame/KirbyAndTheForgottenLand Fecto Elfilis']] attacks, and it helped her defeat them along with [[Franchise/Ben10 Vilgax]] with Joaquin. Spike was completely unaware that he saved Twilight there until he talked to her with [[spoiler:the bracer and accidentally gave himself away.]]
* ConvectionSchmonvection: [[ZigZaggingTrope Zig-zagged]] since the danger of heat exhaustion in lava-filled places varies between universes:
** When [[VideoGame/{{Deltarune}} the Delta Warriors]] visited [[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Hotland]], Alphys applied cooling dirt on them to protect them from the heat, but Frisk, Asriel, and Chara can traverse it just fine without it even if they don't live there.
** There's a LethalLavaLand in the Voidlands, but heat exhaustion was a real hazard because the trope was averted there. Luckily, the first batch of travelers were far from the heat when the lava started melting the rollercoaster they were riding on.
** The lava in the [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Mushroom Kingdom]] is only harmful to the touch, so while visitors won't die from heat stroke from standing near it, they'll still instantly lose a life if they fall into it.
** The glass bridge between [[VideoGame/MetroidDread Artaria and Cataris]] insulates travellers from the lava down below. [[spoiler:When the Corpius destroyed it in its chase towards the underground team, Aaron and Tokage, who are WeakToFire, immediately felt like they're about to burn up from the heat.]]
* CoolStarship: Billy's ''Eagle of the Universe'', which is based on a Kendorian scoutship, but heavily modified with features like a simulator, increased speed and agility, as well as having an external appearance as that of an eagle. Timewrecker's ''Cetus One'' also qualifies too, and so does Mr. Star's Spacepod.
* CouldHaveAvoidedThisPlot:
** After removing Lyric's bracer with the [[Franchise/{{Pokemon}} Acid Armor]] potion to free him from Dark Stanford's control, which made his body melt for a while without his accessories going with him, Oscar realized that he could've just asked Phoebe to give him the same potion to remove his own bracer, but [[ForWantOfANail he wouldn't have befriended Lucian and Squishy at]] [[Franchise/{{Metroid}} SR388]] [[ForWantOfANail otherwise.]]
** While Ichi was willing to shelter 6k1, her assistants, and Power in his bunker during Villain Month, he initially refused to accommodate Power's [[TheClan large family]] when they were threatened by Dark Stanford, all because Ichi didn't want them making a mess there. This prompted Light Stanford to hide them away with the Altfords in [[Roleplay/WeAreAllPiratesRevenge Belissima]], [[spoiler:only for Blood Moon, disguised as Kelby, to infiltrate her realm and force Fair Trial to convince everyone to stay, no matter what they did, for Dark Stanford's greater plan.]] This made Ichi realize that he should've let Power's family stay with the two of them at the bunker in the first place.
* CrazyPrepared: 6k1, Ichigo, and Gamechanger always have plans in case of the worst case scenarios. Timewrecker is also this to terrifying degrees, putting him many steps ahead of the heroes.
* TheCuckoolanderWasRight: Onox, the slow-witted [[Franchise/{{Pokemon}} Toxtricity]] henchman of Scipion, correctly concluded that [[spoiler:[[Series/HyakujuuSentaiGaoranger Duke Org Rouki]], who absorbed AR [[Franchise/{{Kirby}} Meta Knight's]] soul, was [[TheMole secretly working against the team]] on [[Franchise/{{Metroid}} ZDR]].]]
* {{Cult}}: The Gospel of Alchemy, Science, and Knowledge, or GASK, is an evil cult who was responsible for the games in the first place.
* CureYourGays: One of [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Princess Cadance's]] clients, who was an aromantic/asexual unicorn, was bullied for not having a crush like the rest of their classmates and reluctantly asked their pegasus friend out to [[TheBeard pretend to be their date]] for them at the Crystal Ball. They both agreed to take the [[LovePotion Love Poison]] despite knowing the risks, but they ended up destroying the ballroom and injuring many ponies in their infatuated trance. The day after, the unicorn asked Cadance to cast her love spell on them to "fix" them, but she told them that she can't change a pony's sexual or romantic orientation because she failed to "fix" a gay stallion that way. However, the unicorn believed that Cadance didn't cast the spell correctly that time and demanded her to use it on them anyway, but she refused, so the unicorn insisted on copying and modifying the spell so they could "fix" ''themself'' with it. Cadance warned them of the risks of doing that since it's too dangerous for even the most magically gifted unicorns to replicate, but they stole her book on love magic and ran away, never to be seen again.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Elliot, at the very least, is said to have been [[https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=15576410980A04187800&page=26#comment-641 abused]] [[AbusiveParents by his father]] at a young age, to the point where he tried to [[DrivenToSuicide kill himself]] over it.
* DayOfTheWeekName: Oscar's old gang of thieves he used to be part of has all its members go by codenames named after the days of the week. Among the seven, Brian is the last one to still go by his codename, Friday.
* DeadlineNews: Not even Leonard Sutton, the host of the Hunger Games since Reboot Season 69, is safe from the tributes. In Season 190, for example, the [[Literature/AllTomorrows Qu]] invaded his hosting box and threw him down from a great height. Thankfully, the Healers revived him so he could host the rest of the season, but since it took them the entire night to revive him, Gamemaker Stella took over as substitute host until then.
* DeathByAdaptation: While it applies to any tribute who dies in the Arena, there are a few KilledOffForReal examples:
** [[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Snowdrake's mother]] is found alive in her home game, but after her death in Reboot Season 56, her nominator never revived her.
** Scipion nominated VideoGame/{{Ori|AndTheBlindForest}}'s adoptive mother Naru for Reboot Season 97, but didn't bother to revive her after she was killed by [[ComicBook/DoctorDoom Infamous Iron Man]] in the Bloodbath. [[spoiler:Canonically, Naru came BackFromTheDead at the end of her game.]]
* DeathIsCheap: Since tributes can be renominated, they're simply revived before being sent back to the Arena. The nominators also have their own revival methods in case they die, too, but it doesn't mean they won't fear death or recover easily from the trauma even if they know they'll be okay. However, even when data cloning is made mandatory for all tributes starting in Season 258, [[KilledOffForReal dying permanently is still possible in the setting]]. Examples include the deceased choosing to pass on for good, a ruthless villain going out of their way to [[DeaderThanDead make sure their victim stays dead]], and [[AllDeathsFinal the victim's injuries being too severe to be cured quickly and easily]], so the fear is not unfounded.
* DestroyTheSecurityCamera: During the Library heist, Greta, who was disguised as [[WesternAnimation/LiloAndStitchTheSeries Shortstuff]] by Morpholomew, made short work of the security cameras. Ally, who was watching the feed in the basement, immediately took notice as the cameras went down one by one, and quickly went to the first floor to confront her and the rest of the thieves.
* DiesDifferentlyInAdaptation: While in Reboot Season 54, [[VideoGame/TheBattleCats Divine Kai]] had a fatal heart attack in both the main thread and ''Convergence'', she was accidentally killed by [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Yona]] when she tried giving her CPR in the latter.
* DontMakeMeDestroyYou:
** In Reboot Season 89, [[Webcomic/{{Homestuck}} Vriska]] threatened to give [[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Sans]] a "8aaaaaaaad time" if he didn't cooperate, meaning that she would {{brainwash|edAndCrazy}} him into obeying her every command if he refused to listen to her.
** During Letooce and her EvilDoppelganger's first meeting, the doppelganger warns her that though she doesn't want to, she'll get rid of her if she ever tells anyone about her.
* [[invoked]] DracoInLeatherPants: Literally, as there's a magical pair of leather pants that turns villainous tributes good or at least makes them less evil when worn. [[WesternAnimation/TheNightmareBeforeChristmas Oogie Boogie]] wore a pair in Reboot Season 187 and acted silly for the rest of the season.
* DreamEpisode: After everyone went home from their vacation at the [[Franchise/FindingNemo Great Barrier Reef]], there was an extended night sequence where [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Twilight]], under Princess Luna's request, entered [[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Asriel's]] nightmare to fight Nightmare CAC, who threatened to kill him for [[SelfMadeOrphan killing his parents]] in his [[SuperpoweredEvilSide Primal form]] within the dream. After Nightmare CAC was defeated, Twilight took Asriel to the dream nexus to console him over his fears, but she was called over by the [[Franchise/SpyroTheDragon Dream Weavers]] for another dream mission at the Alebrijes' Land of Dreams.
* DreamLand: Besides the various dreamscapes in some universes such as [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Equestria's]], there's also the Alebrijes' Land of Dreams, which is the homeworld of the [[OurAlebrijesAreDifferent Alebrijes]]. There are magical gates in Los Colinas de Colores, [[VideoGame/KirbyAndTheForgottenLand Forgo Dreams]], and the VideoGame/{{Under|tale}}ground Dreamscape that lead to it, but a special dance between two people is required to open them. Once inside, visitors can conjure up items or gain new powers by just saying or imagining them, as [[DreamWeaver anything goes within the realm.]]\\
\\
In the middle of the land is a castle that houses a magic crystal called the Hypnos-Stone that lets one view and enter the dreams of others, even outside New Durango, but the castle is protected with AntiMagic that prevents intruders from teleporting directly to it or inside it. They also can't teleport themselves or any items out of it since their dream powers are also suppressed, and only Elder Coatl knows how to disable the protective enchantment. [[spoiler:Blood Moon disabled it by infecting the Elder with an [[Franchise/{{Metroid}} X Parasite]] to [[NoOntologicalIntertia kill him.]]]]
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness:
** Early in ''Convergence'', [[https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=15358704370A99240800&page=174#comment-4341 before it was moved to its own thread from]] ''Beyond the Possibilities'', there was a council that rigorously vetted which tributes were allowed in the Arena. It wasn't mentioned again ever since because the Gamemakers only ban tributes that they consider "controversial".
** When [[Webcomic/{{Homestuck}} Caliborn]] was nominated for Reboot Season 46, he talked "normally" instead of [[NoIndoorVoice using his usual Typing Quirk]] because according to Mr. X, the way he typed wasn't the same as the way he spoke. This presumably applied to everyone from the Homestuck Universe since [[VisualNovel/HiveswapFriendsim Galekh]] was shown speaking "normally" to 6k1 but using his footnote-based Typing Quirk when messaging her on [[FictionalSocialNetwork Chittr.]] However, [[SeriesContinuityError this contradicted with canon]] since the characters still used their Typing Quirks even while talking, so it was quietly dropped in ASAS.
** In CVG and early ASAS, the nominators used to watch Multiversal versions of ''Series/BigBrother'', ''Series/{{Survivor}}'', and ''WesternAnimation/TotalDrama'', which were also forum game threads, and comment on them during or in between Hunger Games seasons. However, this was dropped due to their lack of popularity in-universe, but other Multiversal Hunger Games[[note]]offsite HGS threads/servers[[/note]] are alluded to, like Juan and Polar Vortex coming from one that went on a long hiatus after only a few seasons.
** Because of [[VideoGame/EarthBound1994 Ness's]] [[DemotedToExtra reduced significance in ASAS]], [[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Frisk's]] friendship with him in CVG is barely brought up at all in the former RP.
* ElaborateUndergroundBase: Ichigo lives in an underground bunker, which contains laboratories, a computer room, an armory, a teleporter room, a training room, a garage housing an assortment of vehicles, and a rec room, among others. He also has robot servants that help run the place.
* EldritchLocation: The Realm of Unyielding Chaos, or Voidlands for short, is what used to be the universe of the Original Timeline, which was destroyed by Scipion, who turned into an EldritchAbomination from drinking too much literal [[invoked]] NightmareFuel, in Season 250. It's a fusion of ''all'' the universes that's inhabited by eldritch versions of the tributes of that time, some of them having drastically different powers from their Reboot counterparts. The place is so dangerous that only Eldritch Abominations can survive in it without needing protective equipment.
* EmbarrassingNickname:
** [[WesternAnimation/GravityFalls Bill Cipher's]] often called an "Egyptian Nacho", with Valecor being the first to call him as such. Many others, particularly [[MaliciousMisnaming those who oppose him]], caught on and began calling the pyramid demon that as well.
** Power Stroke's called "Pow-Pow" by her aunt Miranda Rights. It's her foalhood nickname, and Power's friend Ichi [[AffectionateNickname couldn't help but call her that as well.]]
*** After realizing that "Pow-Pow"'s not so embarrassing at all, [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipisMagic Crim]][[Tropers/VengefulBale son]] [[AuthorAvatar Gale]] called her "Powie" during Billy's party, which she silently cringed at.
*** One of her cousins used to call her "''Cower'' Stroke" due to her anxiety attacks, especially when he dared her to ride the rollercoaster as a filly.
** Morgan constantly calls Tabby [[MaliciousMisnaming "Tabbitch"]], much to her chagrin.
** Alex has also taken a liking to call Lucian "Lulu" and Oscar "Kiki".
* EmpathicEnvironment: The Alebrijes' Land of Dreams is a colorful realm where the alebrijes cheerfully go about their day when they're not traversing other people's dreams, [[spoiler:but when the Hypnos-Stone gets stolen by Blood Moon, the realm becomes a depressing land full of thunderstorms as the alebrijes slowly transform into Nightmares.]]
* EndingMemorialService: [[spoiler:Billy hosted GC's funeral after the latter died in the Voidlands. It served as the final arc for ''Convergence''.]]
* EternalEquinox: Other than a few times when the characters remark on the winter days getting shorter, sunrise and sunset in Panem are assumed to follow the equinox cycle regardless of season.
* EternalRecurrence: Except for the Great Destruction that happened in OT Season 250 and the attempted 2nd Great Destruction in Reboot Season 74, the apocalypse is an uncommon occurrence in the Arena. The extent of the destruction is mitigated by data cloning tributes that would cause it if killed and moving the surviving tributes to an identical Arena after the "end of the world". This has happened so many times that the nominators eventually treated it like any other season event.
* EvilCounterpart: The Dark Nominators are this to the regular ones, with some of them working for Timewrecker like Dark Billy.
* ExactWords: When [[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Frisk]] suspected that CAC was hiding a lot of secrets, not just his shapeshifting, they advised him that "there's nothing wrong with [[BeYourself being [himself].]]" This gave CAC an idea for the following Nominator Games (Season 250), and 6k1 assumed that he'd just be presenting himself in his [[ShapeshifterDefaultForm default human form]]. While he did just that, he also decided to come out as aromantic/asexual, which threw 6k1 and Power[[note]]who was watching the season with Ichi at his bunker[[/note]] off-guard because they found it odd for him to be closeted when it has always been legal for LGBT+ tributes to participate in the Games. Because he did so in the Arena, unlike Tabby, who casually came out as a lesbian in the Science Center's Recovery Room after the 2nd Reboot Nominator Games, it also made 6k1 question her own sexual orientation, among the other things stressing her out before the season.
* ExceptionallyTolerant:
** While there's still some discrimination in the Multiverse, such as James, Arthur, and Nick keeping their polyamorous relationship a secret for most of ASAS and [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Roy]] making misogynistic comments, the nominators are generally tolerant and/or respectful towards minority groups. They use the right pronouns for trans/nonbinary people and are cool with LGBT+ couples, and don't make a big deal about their racial/species differences.
** Because it has always been legal for tributes of all gender, sexual, and romantic minorities to compete in the Games and the nominators are generally accepting of them, 6k1 and Power found it unusual that CAC decided to come out as aromantic/asexual in the 5th Reboot Nominator Games. They thought that he didn't need to hide it in the first place when Panem already has progressive values towards LGBT+ people.
* ExpositionParty: While the guests had fun for the most part, GC's party was just an excuse for him and Valecor to warn them of Nightmare Scipion and prepare to fight him.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Tropes F - J]]
* FantasticSlurs: [[ExpendableClone "Digital meat shields"]] for data clones, as they're treated like the originals because they're designed to perfectly emulate them. Power took offense when Alphys {{innocent|Bigot}}ly brought up the concern about using them to counter tribute attacks on the nominators, then realized that she was also being unintentionally bigoted towards them when she described them to Ichi. 6k1, however, unironically used the term when expressing her hatred towards data clones, offending [[WesternAnimation/LiloAndStitchTheSeries Dupe]], who regularly summons her clone for her work. Due to a mutual misunderstanding on the topic, he temporarily left to give himself a timeout.
* FantasyCounterpartAppliance: In [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Equestria]], ponies use crystal balls like video phones to communicate with one another. Some like Power's family also have magic screen generators in their homes to watch the Games. Power herself also has the same cauldron that [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyTheMovie2017 Tempest Shadow used to communicate with the Storm King]], which functions like a TV and also has "video call" in her bedroom.
* FeverDreamEpisode: When Joaquin caught a cold after the search for CG, he took all of Cleo's cough medicine for him. He then had a [[RealDreamsAreWeirder dream which was like an acid trip]], with his friends randomly morphing and living fruits singing nonsensical Spanish songs. The singing then became an ominous chant of [[DreamingOfThingsToCome what's to come for the 'Brijes]], and Zuma, a natural-born Alebrije who [[DreamWalker can traverse the dream realm]], advised Joaquin to control his True Alebrije form in preparation for the dangers ahead. Joaquin then woke up in the triage wondering [[OrWasItADream if the last part with Zuma was real]] because to him, it was the most "normal" part of the dream.
* FirstPetStory: Mimi's character arc in CVG was this, and 6k1 learned to love her after GC gave her to her as a gift. Despite all the trouble Mimi gave her owner as a mischievous Starble, 6k1 promised to take care of her after learning about her missing parents.
* FisherKingdom: Several universes such as [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Equestria]] and the VideoGame/PokemonMysteryDungeon World transform outside visitors into their native species or alter their art styles, or even subject them to their universe laws such as the [[WesternAnimation/LooneyTunes Looniverse's]] ToonPhysics. This effect can be bypassed using magic or protective devices such as anti-transformation portals while shapeshifters[[note]]usually those who can transform into anything[[/note]] can retain their forms at will[[note]]which was why [[WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddparents Jorgen von Strangle]] showed up in his default fairy form when he dropped by Power's home to reprimand her and Ichi for violating the Anti-[[VoodooDoll You-Doo Doll]] Rule[[/note]], whether or not they turn into Dittos upon entry like [[Roleplay/WeAreAllPiratesRevenge Ira and Melody.]]
* FiveSecondForeshadowing: A serendipitous case: During Reboot Season 153, shortly before the heist at the Library, WesternAnimation/PuffTheMagicDragon ran afoul of a copy of [[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Flowey]] at the mall for villains and was taken out of the season by him, much to Asriel's unease. As the heist ultimately led to [[spoiler:Asriel being forcibly turned back into the real Flowey by the [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaBreathOfTheWild Blight Ganons]],]] it makes what was originally just another fatal event in the season come off as rather ominous in hindsight.
* ForgottenFirstMeeting:
** While Power and Ichi did meet in the 2nd OT Nominator Games (Season 200), their friendship didn't take off until the 1st Reboot Nominator Games (Season 50). Power only realized this after the latter because she was possessed by [=WarioGuy=] when she met Ichi in the former.
** Scipion claimed that he only met Lucian at parties, forgetting the first time they met as young Franchise/{{Pokemon}}, when Aaron rescued them from a cave.
* FoulCafeteriaFood: Implied when [[VideoGame/{{Deltarune}} Susie]] enjoyed the various Franchise/{{Pokemon}} food prepared by Freddy in Scipion's party, saying it was a lot better than the cafeteria food in her school. Whether this was just her opinion since she's a BigEater otherwise or if the cafeteria food objectively wasn't delicious was left ambiguous.
* FourIsDeath: In Reboot Season 113, [[Anime/{{Stitch}} Pop]] killed his nominator, 6k1, by blasting her out of the Database Library's conference room by inflating a balloon with his tail and popping it. It just so happened that the conference room was on the ''4th'' floor.
* FourthDateMarriage: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. After officially dating for three days ([[WebcomicTime or 4 months and 17 days on]] [[RealLife Earth Prime]]), Dave and Fira got engaged. {{Lampshade|Hanging}}d by [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Spike]]:
--> "That's an awfully short time to make sure your relationship's secure."
* TheFourthWallWillNotProtectYou: In-universe. Unlike Earth Prime, which is the in-universe depiction of the real world, The 4th World is the metafictional universe where the nominators' respective writers reside. It's separated from the rest of the Multiverse by the FourthWall, but it was destroyed at least twice when it was nominated as a tribute in OT Season 96 and Reboot Season 108. As a result, the writers are just as vulnerable as the nominators to rogue tribute attacks like being summoned to the Arena to kill another tribute. They can also be nominated as tributes by being part of massive real-world populations.
* FreakyFridayFlip:
** Besides temporary ones that happen in the Arena [[note]]and even then, they only last for a single day/night to avoid complications in determining who makes the Hall of Fame[[/note]] and a few cases where the tributes are body-swapped from the start, a massive one happened in June's cheer-up party for Stanford when Cleo, who swapped souls with Wanda after the former accidentally unleashed Soulstorm, tried teaching her to use the spell to try swapping them back, only for Wanda to fail and swap almost everyone else around instead. Power and [[VideoGame/{{Deltarune}} Ralsei]] were among the ones not affected... until [[WesternAnimation/LiloAndStitchTheSeries Swapper]] tried swapping June and Scipion back to their own bodies, only for it to fail due to his powers working differently and swap the former two instead.
** Nate is an Alebrije who has the power to switch the consciousness of two or more dreamers. She did this to Les and Reba by switching their bodies with two commoners from their kingdom during their nightmare to convince them to stop being tyrant rulers of their kingdom.
** One-sided example: in Reboot Season 194, [[VideoGame/{{Deltarune}} Rouxls Kaard]] [[WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse accidentally projected himself astrally into Swatch's body in his sleep.]] His voice [[VoicesAreNotMental didn't swap with him]] but he still kept his YeOldeButcheredeEnglishe accent, but he had to break into his own camp to slap his own body awake to return to it. Swatch woke up confused and was disappointed with the act, even if it was an accident.
* FurryConfusion: Anthropomorphic and non-anthro animals regularly meet up in the Arena and out, leading to some interesting interactions between them, especially if they're of the same species.
** While Franchise/{{Pokemon}} are officially classified as sapient creatures by the Gamemakers, Pokémon from the [[VideoGame/PokemonMysteryDungeon Mystery Dungeon]] Worlds can talk and live like humans, though wild Pokémon like the ones from the "main series" Pokémon World live there, too.
** 6k1's Vaporeon, itself a regular Pokémon, was afraid of Sonic-style Alolan Vulpix because the latter was standing on two legs and could talk.
* GadgeteerGenius:
** Several nominators such as 6k1, Ichi, and GC are good with tech, and the latter prefers fighting with his inventions over having superpowers.
** Some of the nominators' assistants are just as skilled in gadgets as them, most notably Stanford and his numerous {{Alternate Sel|f}}ves.
** [[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Alphys]], being the Underground's Royal Scientist, makes all sorts of useful inventions for her friends, like Frisk's prosthetic hand and special equipment for the Royal Guard such as goggles to correct Doggo's reverse object blindness.
** Lucian also has knowledge in gadgets and even built some for his friends.
* GagEcho: After seeing [[FreakyFridayFlip Power-in-Ralsei's-body]] lose control of her [[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure Stand]] while trying to use Ralsei's healing magic, Aaron and Ichi petted her to comfort her. She felt flustered by the gesture while Ralsei-in-Power's-body blushed at the scene because it felt surreal for him to watch "himself" in that situation. This was mirrored at the [[VideoGame/SpyroTheDragon1998 Peace Keepers Homeworld]], where Power blushed at watching "herself" being petted by Aaron after Ralsei accidentally teleported himself near him during their training.
* GenreSavvy: Over the course of ASAS, the nominators and a few of their tributes have started becoming aware of how the Arena works, but they're still subjected to its influence with only some degree of resistance depending on their mental resilience.
* GiantSpider: Some of Jace Webking's spiders are described to be far larger than the average spider, such as the spider that carried Tubbo's corpse and Tommy's sausage-turned remains to the Webking House in Reboot Season 148 being described as "motorcycle-sized".
* GlitchEntity:
** G-13 was a virus that threatened to destroy universes by turning them into glitchy messes without leaving a trace. It was one of Timewrecker's experiments that EscapedFromTheLab during the Great Destruction, and his group sought to destroy it because it went out of control and some of his members were from universes it destroyed.
** How every failed HGS save was depicted in-universe when nominated for Reboot Season 223; it's depicted as a glitched, ''WesternAnimation/{{Pibby}}''-esque amalgamation of the usual in-universe depiction of EVERYTHING. Its powers grow stronger with every failed save made by the Gamemakers.
* GoMadFromTheRevelation:
** In Reboot Season 95, the Music Fanbase underwent this when Immorticia pointed out that they were sent to the Arena by Terminus, driving them to kill her.
** In Reboot Season 123, [[VisualNovel/DanganronpaAnother Yamato Kisaragi]] outed [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Ugo]] as the shapeshifting [[AuthorAvatar CosmosAndChaos]], causing him to go insane for the rest of the season.
** Upon learning that [[spoiler:he's half-Alebrije because his late father Sebastian was a Full one, and that he's undergoing a {{metamorphosis}} into a Full Alebrije himself thanks to the Alebrije Touch and the Alebrije blood in his veins]], Knox freaked out and stormed out of Elder Coatl's quarters, not wanting to speak with him further.
* GrayRainOfDepression: In Reboot Season 52, [[Literature/TheMagicSchoolBus Mikey]] tried to summon the [[Film/Aladdin2019 Genie]] for his final wish, but couldn't because the latter had been killed by [[Franchise/KagerouProject Shuuya Kano]] earlier. It rained as soon as he started crying.
* HalloweenEpisode:
** After the Sayaka Mission, Haze decided to host a Halloween party at his museum to relax from it. It lasted well past Halloween itself because the guests had a [[TalentContest costume/talent contest]], with Dave winning it, Fira placing 2nd, and [[Literature/TheMagicSchoolBus Carlos]], [[VideoGame/{{Deltarune}} Ralsei]], and Mr. Godzilla tying for 3rd. Dave and Fira even got engaged to cap it off.
** For Halloween on Earth Prime 2022, Freddy invited his guests to brave the challenges in his haunted house for some scary good fun, with Dess and Skyler volunteering to help him spook them with their illusions.
* HeistEpisode: In Reboot Season 152, [[WesternAnimation/LiloAndStitchTheSeries Bonnie and Clyde]] decided to raid the Library with the help of Wednesday and the 'Brijes after hearing 6k1[[note]]who was actually a data clone of herself[[/note]] tell their cousin PJ that she'd be going to a party. The following season, they tore through the Library's security systems and invaded the basement to steal her Database notes, only to try prying [[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Asriel's]] ring out of him instead because of its value. [[spoiler:They didn't realize that it [[TransformationTrinket lets him power-up into his Hyperdeath form]], but at the cost of [[ArtifactOfDoom turning him back into Flowey if he loses it.]] The thieves learned this the hard way when the [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaBreathOfTheWild Blight Ganons]] broke in and forcibly corrupted him back into his psychotic alter ego. The Blights then ordered them to keep the ring away from him so he can wreak havoc at the party in the VideoGame/PokemonMysteryDungeon World.]]
* HeroesGoneFishing: The nominators often throw parties after a big mission or the Nominator Games to relax from them, but they're not without their own mishaps.
* HeroicBSOD: Fighting in the Games gives many tributes stress to the point that they break down. It also happens to them and several nominators even outside the Arena.
** Power Stroke, being a self-admitted NervousWreck, has several moments. In fact, she had broken down so many times, she was at greater risk of suffering from [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyRainbowRoadtrip Hopeless]] [[DespairEventHorizon Magic]] and [[ColorFailure losing her colors]] than Twilight before she took some much-needed friendship lessons.
*** In the interlude between Reboot Seasons 49 and 50, she mentally broke down during President Snow's party when she heard that OG universe still exists as the Voidlands, traumatized by what her (or 6k1's) tributes did in the old timeline and Wario Guy possessing her in the second Nominator Games (OG Season 200). She got better after Dave's group and [[VideoGame/{{Deltarune}} Ralsei]] comforted her by reminding her that [[YouAreNotAlone she wasn't alone.]] Even Billy's tributes consoled her.
*** During the 1st Reboot Nominator Games (Season 50), she was reduced to tears after witnessing her friends Ralsei and Gale die. She eventually got better after the season, even forgiving Ichigo for [[DisproportionateRetribution killing the latter for yanking his hair.]]
*** Upon realizing that Psyche was among the many Australians who had perished in Season 58's Bloodbath, she broke down crying while discussing it with an equally shaken Ichigo, who wasted no time teleporting to Power's home in order to provide her with a shoulder to cry on while Vengeful Bale offered her some consoling words over the radio.
*** After witnessing [[VideoGame/TheBattleCats Miko Mitama's]] [[TheresNoKillLikeOverkill horrifically excessive murder]] of [[Music/{{BTS}} V]] on the ''first day'' of Reboot Season 60, then learning that her art school had been leveled and Pointy had died from her wounds in the aftermath despite the droids' best efforts, Power completely broke down. Thankfully, she got better when Twilight, [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Star]][[Tropers/DaveTheAssassin fa]][[AuthorAvatar ll]] and Ichigo paid her a visit in order to personally comfort her.
*** Upon seeing [[Franchise/FindingNemo Dory]], 6k1's ''own'' tribute, destroy Tier 0 aka EVERYTHING in Reboot Season 74, she cowered in a TroubledFetalPosition, just like when Valecor first told her about the Voidlands. Ichi instinctively teleported himself to her house to reassure her that the Second Great Destruction didn't happen because of that[[note]]due to Billy having the Gamemakers secretly replace it and the Outerverse with harmless copies[[/note]].
*** She broke down sobbing at her and Ichi's watch party for Reboot Season 80 after seeing the two versions of Twilight, the pony she idolizes and thinks the world of, who'd been nominated perish at the hands of [[VideoGame/SoulSeries Kilik]] and [[Franchise/StarWars Anakin Skywalker]]. She even had to leave the party early because of it.
*** [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness Even after she learned to control her emotions, she still broke down upon seeing]] [[SiblingMurder Ichi being murdered by his adoptive sister Psyche in the 2nd Reboot Nominator Games.]] Thankfully, her friends and family visited her at the Recovery Room to cheer her up after the season, and she even called Ichi himself to make sure he was okay.
** Even Power's [[AlternateSelf human counterpart]] 6k1 breaks down on occasion.
*** In Reboot Season 54, she was anguished with grief after witnessing the Database, which had a copy of it downloaded into a robot resembling Power, get pulverized by VideoGame/{{the Messenger|2018}}. For her, it was like being forced to watch her child die while she was unable to do anything about it. Thankfully, GC made a new bot, which resembled Twilight, to comfort her the next day.
*** After the Database Library was set on fire by [[invoked]] [[MemeticMutation LOLW]] in Reboot Season 63, 6k1 fell to her knees and broke down crying, wondering where she went wrong as Manager. Thankfully, her assistants, nominator friends, and tributes gave her [[YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre words of encouragement]], motivating her to spring back into action.
*** When Timewrecker leaked her OT memories and time machine to the public, she was driven into catatonia. Thankfully, GC reassured her that that wouldn't be a big deal in the long run, [[YankTheDogsChain but that didn't stop Timewrecker from messing with her, anyway.]]
*** After witnessing Dory [[OmnicidalManiac destroy Tier 0 aka EVERYTHING]] in Reboot Season 74, she froze up and collapsed as memories of the First Great Destruction came back to her. It took her a while to regain consciousness, and Dave comforted her by vowing to [[UndyingLoyalty never leave her behind.]]
*** She fainted when what she thought was "her" Twilight was "stolen" in Reboot Season 97 when AR Twilight and her friends were forced into the Arena by the Legion of Doom. While "tribute theft" is not a big deal for him unless said "stolen" tribute performs better under their new nominator, Scipion was concerned for her because she overreacted. The other Twilight then gave her "friendship lessons" to help her overcome this.
*** Like Power after the 2nd Reboot Nominator Games, she fell into despair when Dave didn't visit her at the Recovery Room after the third one. As always, her friends and family comforted her and helped her learn to accept that she can press on without him, but the [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaBreathOfTheWild Waterblight Ganon]] told her the harsh truth that Dave can't always be there for her.
** After learning just how traumatic the Great Destruction had been for 6k1 and Power, Ichigo was left feeling racked with sorrow and guilt over his decision to stay holed up in his bunker during that time instead of reaching out to not only them, but anyone else left reeling in the timeline-destroying catastrophe's wake. Fortunately, this prompted Power to visit his base in order to personally console him.
** Like Power, Lucian the Dusk Lycanroc is prone to panic attacks and almost always faints when frightened. He's been trying his best to stay calm, but his worst scare happened when he went on a dangerous mission in [[VideoGame/AnotherMetroid2Remake Planet [=SR388=]]] to destroy Wednesday's bracer and free him from Dark Stanford's control. Wednesday also did his best to comfort him during the treacherous journey, [[spoiler:but Lucian got severely injured and traumatized by an Omega Metroid, and then blacked out. Aaron was extremely worried about him when he arrived to rescue him, but thankfully, he consoled him when he broke down crying over lying to him about the mission as well as risking Wednesday's life and Colby's sacrifice.]]
** The quest to [=SR388=] similarly leaves Stanford very shaken up afterward due to him becoming aware of the atrocities committed by [[EvilCounterpart Dark Stanford]] in the worst possible way, along with he and Eye-Sicle nearly being [[KillAndReplace killed and replaced]] by a malevolent X Parasite. Stanford is so shaken up that [[EveryoneHasStandards even Scipion and Eye-Sicle are both sympathetic to him]] [[PetTheDog and insist he take time to mentally recuperate from the experience]].
* HiveMind: Group tributes generally are compelled to perform the same action because they're treated as one tribute by the Gamemakers, but there are exceptions depending on the members in question. Because of this, kills are always shared between them, even if not everyone contributed to the murder.
* HomeBase: Each nominator has a base of operations where they nominate their tributes and arrange for meetings with other nominators. Some of them such as 6k1, Ichi, and Eye-Sicle are based in Panem while others such as Scipion, Bale, and the Tempest System are stationed elsewhere in the Multiverse.
* HorrifyingTheHorror: In Reboot Season 216, [[Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda Vaati]], in his OneWingedAngel form, had nightmares about being [[ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill timewrecked.]] It shows just how horrifying it is to suffer such AFateWorseThanDeath when even a terrifying villain like him fears it.
* HotSpringsEpisode: After defeating [[spoiler:Vahirom]], the Fiery Blue Wings, the Bugtrio, Team Cerulean, [[VideoGame/{{Deltarune}} Susie, Noelle, and Berdly]] went to some hot springs near Dragonspiral Tower to relax from the stressful mission, enjoying each other's company before calling it a night.
* HulkSpeak: Haban-Arrow speak like this, and combined with YouNoTakeCandle and {{Pluralses}}, they're said to speak like [[Literature/TheLordOfTheRings Gollum]]. They also call people with simple descriptions instead of their names. Their manner of speaking even extends to their narration from their POV.
* HumanityEnsues: In Season 271, a mysterious light engulfed the entire Arena and permanently turned [[MassTransformation all the non-human tributes into humans]], some of them becoming LittleBitBeastly. Some of them like [[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Photoshop Flowey]] [[RevelingInTheNewForm didn't mind their new forms]] while others like the [[VideoGame/CrashBandicoot Komodo Brothers]] were disgusted by them. This is the first instance of a mass humanization event, since another one happened in Season 277, where [[WebVideo/BackstrokeOfTheWest Ratio Tile]] was responsible for it.
* IdenticalTwinIDTag:
** Due to the prevalence of [[InexplicablyIdenticalIndividuals identical]] {{Alternate Sel|f}}ves, some tributes wear accessories or have distinct markings to help the nominators tell them apart.
*** 6k1 invoked this when she visited [[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Toriel]] during her Underground vacation by gifting her a snail bracelet to wear on her right hand. This is because 6k1 is aware of the various alternate Undergrounds since several alternate versions of Sans occasionally show up in the Arena.
*** [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Twilight Sparkle]] wears a star-shaped mane clip while Fluttershy [[ExpositoryHairstyleChange keeps her short mane she got from Reboot Season 245]] so they won't be confused with their AR counterparts, who are loyal to Bale while they are loyal to 6k1. However, Dark 6k1 exploited the former when she infiltrated 6k1's disguise revealer experiment at the lab by shapeshifting into "her" Twilight, complete with her mane clip, to trick her into thinking it's the "real" Twilight she knows.
*** Starting in Season 251, 6k1's [[WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse Peridot]] wears [[QueerColors a purple ace scarf]] even when it's not cold outside to differentiate herself from AR Peridot, who's loyal to Bale like the other AR tributes of his.
*** When 6k1 assigned [[VideoGame/{{Deltarune}} Berdly]] to Eastboroughshiressex to meet with another Berdly, the former reluctantly dyed his crest red to tell themselves apart. 6k1's Berdly, who was nominated by Scipion in Reboot Seasons 201 and 208 but declared his loyalty to her after his mission at Danjor Island, got the idea from the latter season, when his data clone transformed into [[WesternAnimation/TurningRed a giant red panda]] after breaking a cursed weapon containing its spirit.
** June the Zoroark is the only one among her clones to wear a purple bobble, while her sisters July and August[[note]]not to be confused with August of the Cosmic Crusaders, who's a Luxio[[/note]] wear blue and green bobbles, respectively.
* IdenticalTwinMistake: Alluded to by the loony Penny when she and [[PolarOppositeTwins her calm identical twin sister Jenny]] saw [[Franchise/{{Pokemon}} Manaphy]] about to use [[FreakyFridayFlip Heart Swap]] when in distress.
--> '''Penny''': Would anybody really know the difference if Jenny and I swapped bodies?
* IKnowYoureInThereSomewhereFight: When [[Franchise/{{Pokemon}} Zekrom]] trained Aaron how to fight, he transformed Lucian into a Midnight Lycanroc to teach him how to fight his own friend in dire situations. [[spoiler:This happened again when Lucian was possessed by a wild Spiritomb during Aaron and Scipion's duel in the latter's makeshift lair.]]
* ImAHumanitarian: Originally, cannibalism was illegal in the Games, with one tribute being eliminated as punishment, but it was legalized when Panem was opened to the Multiverse. As a result, there have been many instances of tributes preying on one another, and for some nominators such as 6k1, they have to manually and secretly extract the remains from their predators to revive them (before data cloning made the process easier).
* ImmortalBreaker: The Arena temporarily suppresses the immortality of some tributes, allowing them to be killed by others, mostly mortals. [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Dry Bones]] Jones was shocked to discover this in Reboot Season 130 when he [[RevivingEnemy couldn't pull his bones back together]] after being shot with an arrow by WesternAnimation/{{Grizzy|AndTheLemmings}}.
* INeverSaidItWasPoison: During Haze's Halloween party, 6k1 disguised herself as Power for fun, but decided to impersonate her and lie about liking data clones to Bale because she was tired of hearing him talk about them. While Bale fell for her lies at first, he eventually caught on when she ended up implicating herself.
--> '''6k1 (as Power)''': I'm just wondering if you're gonna transfer [[[Franchise/UltraSeries Maquette]]![[Franchise/YuGiOh Dinosaur Ryuzaki's]]] good Arena memories to the real Ryuzaki after [Reboot Season 130]. So that, y'know... he won't miss out.
--> '''Bale''': Since when were you this intersted [sic] in tribute's memories... ''"Power"''?
* InevitableWaterfall: James and Henry encountered one right after the [[Franchise/{{Metroid}} Metroid Queen]] threw their cocoon out of their prison and into the stream down below. It led them back to the surface of Planet [=SR388=].
* InUniverseSoundtrack: Some of the tributes are fully aware of their {{Leitmotif}}s, which are often played in the Arena. They also play remixes in parties, and [[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Chara]] recalls several alternate Frisks who killed all the monsters [[EvilIsPetty just to dance to Sans's boss theme.]]
* JawDrop: Whenever [[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Sans or Papyrus]] witness something shocking, their jawbones [[VisualPun literally fall to the floor.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Tropes K - O]]
* KidFromTheFuture: Techra and Titania, AR [[Franchise/{{Kirby}} Meta Knight]] and [[VideoGame/FireEmblemAwakening Lucina's]] [[FanCreatedOffspring daughters]], time travel from the distant future to join the Games.
* LargeAndInCharge:
** Elder Coatl of the Alebrijes' Land of Dreams is a colossal Alebrije, with his quarters being just as large as him. He towers over the already-giant Zuma and Rodriguez by three feet.
** Commander Cranium, leader of the [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Dry Bones]] army, is a Big Dry Bones, stands twice as tall as his soldiers.
* LarynxDissonance: When Power and [[VideoGame/{{Deltarune}} Ralsei]] switched bodies, [[VoicesAreMental their voices swapped with them]], so they tried to sound like each other to hide from the [[Franchise/{{Transformers}} ex-Decepticons]] that they were swapped. It didn't work because they ended up sounding like boys going through puberty.
* LetsSplitUpGang:
** The rescue teams' strategy for raiding Scipion's makeshift lair to rescue [[VideoGame/{{Deltarune}} Kris]] and Lucian. VideoGame/{{Und|ertale}}yne suggested doing so even if she was aware she was contradicting [[WesternAnimation/SheRaAndThePrincessesOfPower Glimmer's]] advice to [[NeverSplitTheParty stick together]], only for Susie to immediately run off to look for Kris. While Morgan trapped Susie for her trouble, the plan worked in the rescue teams' favor as Aaron, James, and Ralsei split off to find her while the others fought off [[Franchise/{{Metroid}} Ridley's crew]] and the [[VideoGame/MarioAndLuigiBowsersInsideStory Dark Star]].
** The [[Franchise/ScoobyDoo Mystery Gang's]] tendency to split up to search for clues was {{lampshade|Hanging}}d when Shaggy counted to three just before Fred suggested splitting up to search for Kelby in [[VideoGame/MarioAndLuigiDreamTeam Pi'illo Island.]]
* LieToTheBeholder: Before running away to New Durango, Freyja and Nyx gave magic stones to [[WesternAnimation/LiloAndStitchTheSeries Bonnie, Clyde]], and the 'Brijes that cast illusions that hide their true forms. They were still themselves under the disguises, but they have to hold the stones near them to retain them.
* LighterAndSofter: ''Another Side, Another Story'' is this to ''Convergence'', and while it still has its dark moments, there are more comedic and lighthearted moments than its predecessor.
* LoopholeAbuse: After data cloning was made mandatory for ''all'' tributes starting in Season 258, 6k1 and Ally got concerned about those potentially violating the rule such as the Tempest System creating magical tribute constructs and sending them to the Arena to make them "more real", meaning that they are not digitally cloned as defined by the law. However, the Gamemakers haven't stated the punishment yet, and those with their own cloning system are still allowed to use it, even non-digital clones because they didn't specify it has to be a ''data'' cloning system.
* LooseCanon: While ''Convergence/Another Side, Another Story'' takes place concurrently with the canon seasons, several liberties are taken with some parts of the canon to make the story work, like Snow's many deaths becoming [[ActuallyADoombot Snowclones being killed]] and several tributes [[SparedByTheAdaptation not actually dying]] despite being stated to do so.
* MadeOfEvil:
** Valecor is an Exterrerian, a being made of literal [[invoked]] NightmareFuel as a result of an experiment by Scientist Dave. GASK also experimented on these creatures in the OG timeline, but they failed because the beings weren't intelligent enough.
** [[Anime/KirbyRightBackAtYa Nightmare]] is also the same species as Valecor, and this let the former secretly absorb the latter's essence while he was still active.
* MagicAIsMagicA: How magic works varies across universes, and some spells have complicated rules on how they are used:
** Power's art magic has complex rules governing it, given how long she had to learn to master it:
*** It requires full concentration or else the spell breaks. Bigger and more complex drawings are harder and take longer to summon, and she needs to rest if she summons a drawing as big as Franchise/KingKong, but she'll faint from exhaustion if she summons anything bigger than him.
*** While she can make her food drawings come to life, she can't make them taste like the real ones because she hasn't mastered that part of her spell yet.
*** It takes more willpower to successfully summon a living being than an inanimate object, and the spell only works perfectly on her drawings or the drawings of those she collaborated on because they were made in her vision, totally or partially. [[spoiler:Ralsei learned the hard way when he tried learning her art magic while in her body, as he tried but failed to summon a translator for Stanford-in-Sticky's-body that he drew up himself, [[LoopholeAbuse but that didn't stop him from using the spell on]] ''[[LoopholeAbuse her]]'' [[LoopholeAbuse drawings.]]]]
** [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Princess Cadance's]] love spell can make anyone fall in love with others, but it can't change their sexual or romantic orientation. For example, if she casts it on a gay stallion, then he'll always fall in love with another stallion instead of a mare or a non-binary pony. Cadance is, to date, [[SecretArt the only pony who mastered this spell]], and it's [[DangerousForbiddenTechnique extremely dangerous for even the most talented unicorns to replicate it.]]
* MagicalDefibrillator: Reviving a tribute that died from the mental shock of their data clone's death [[YourMindMakesItReal while using VR]] is as simple as using [[{{Magitek}} technomagically]] advanced defibrillators on them.
* MakeWayForTheNewVillains: ???'s [[spoiler:(actually Dark Bale's)]] Legion, who had been working in the background for their personal goals, [[spoiler:killed Markus after the fall of the Legion of Doom and then raided his churches to turn them into their new bases]].
* ManipulativeEditing:
** The Gamemakers sometimes edit the footage to make scenes more dramatic or cover up inconsistencies such as tributes not actually dying when they're supposed to. However, they sometimes slip up, so they review the footage after the fact and adjust the kill tally accordingly.
** [[spoiler:[[Franchise/{{Metroid}} Raven Beak]] doctored the footage of Fire Eyes' near-fatal defeat to Proteus Ridley to make it look like the nominators killed the Mawkin instead. He then showed this to Blood Moon to feed into his hatred against the nominators, thus forcing him to shed his Kelby disguise and capture all the Altfords hiding in [[Roleplay/WeAreAllPiratesRevenge Belissima]] in his grief-induced rampage.]]
* MasculineGirlFeminineBoy:
** Fukuro and Imori, two workers at Dobu-2 Corp, may look like a woman and a man, respectively, but they're actually a [[LongHairedPrettyBoy long-haired man]] and a [[BoyishShortHair short-haired woman.]]
** Irene and Pedro, a married couple, are a brutish Tinkaton (an [[OneGenderRace all-female]] Franchise/{{Pokemon}} species) blacksmith and a flamboyant Quaquaval dancer (who's male and is of a predominantly male species), respectively.
* TheMasquerade: Some worlds must be kept secret from others, such as [[VideoGame/{{Deltarune}} the Dark World to the Light World]], so the Gamemakers censor the footage of their inhabitants so they wouldn't be exposed to other worlds in their local broadcasting. [[spoiler:[[BrokenMasquerade It got broken]] when Noelle realized that she wasn't dreaming about her last season at the time, Reboot Season 196, because she woke up with her watch stolen by [[Film/HomeAlone Harry and Marv]] after she was revived. She lashed out at Susie [[LiarRevealed for lying to her not just about her Arena experiences, but also her adventure in Cyber World]], but Kris explained that it was for her and Berdly's protection as revealing the Dark World's existence to the Lightners might [[TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt risk destroying both worlds with the Roaring.]] However, Noelle didn't forgive Susie immediately for the lie, though she and Berdly would do their best not to spread the secret to the other Lightners.]]
* MassiveMultiplayerCrossover: Besides the ''sheer'' number of tributes from various universes that are nominated every season (including the massive group tributes like Tier 0 aka EVERYTHING), there are many characters who are [[CanonForeigner created specifically for the roleplay]] like the nominators and their assistants. Some of these characters are [[CanonImmigrant eventually nominated in the main thread.]]
* MassTransformation: There are a few events where all the tributes are transformed either into [[HumanityEnsues humans]], nonhumans, or clones of a random tribute. HilarityEnsues when some of them are [[NinjaPirateZombieRobot already transformed into something or someone else]], like when [[WesternAnimation/{{Encanto}} Alma Madrigal]] and Alma Coin suddenly turned into [[VideoGame/BattleForWesnoth Garak]] clones in Season 264, while already [[FreakyFridayFlip body-swapped]] with each other.
* MeaningfulEcho:
** When 6k1 fainted from seeing her own tribute [[Franchise/FindingNemo Dory]] [[OmnicidalManiac destroy Tier 0]] in Reboot Season 74, Dave told the others to continue the mission to storm Zorua's base without him, saying, [[VideoGame/KingdomHeartsIII "let ME keep HER safe."]] When he collapsed from the wounds caused by Zorua detonating the base, 6k1 returned the favor by telling the others to go home ahead of them, saying almost the exact same line.
** When Power was anxious about the Reserve System temporarily being implemented starting in Reboot Season 185, Ichi assured her: "If time flies when you're havin' fun, Pow-Pow, the new sim'll prolly sneak up on ya while you're gettin' all wrapped up in the Games." She repeated this to him almost word-for-word when he was getting impatient with the delay of the 5th Reboot Nominator Games.
* MemoryWipingCrew:
** Zanreo, 6k1, and Bale all have their tributes' memories of the seasons wiped after they've been revived. [[AmnesiaMissedASpot The process hasn't been perfected, however]], but in 6k1's case, the Necromancy Department was eventually funded sufficiently so they can perfect it.
** Psyche also began wiping her tributes' memories starting in Reboot Season 73, after realizing that letting them retain them has caused them to suffer from the lasting trauma of being in the Games.
** [[Franchise/{{Pokemon}} Uxie]] is described as a "one-mon [[Literature/HarryPotter Obliviator]] team" by [[VideoGame/{{Deltarune}} Ralsei]]. She can erase people's memories by opening her eyes in front of them, and she had been secretly wiping the Lightners' memories of seeing Darkners in the Arena before the events of Chapter 2.
* MentalHealthRecoveryArc: In Reboot Seasons 81 and 82, Power learned to control her anxiety attacks by taking lessons with Twilight and Fluttershy. While her assertiveness training with Fluttershy was cancelled due to Discord interrupting her and Starfall's visit at the pegasus' cottage, Power still learned to be more self-confident by just observing them talk Discord down for pranking her.
* MercyKill:
** "YOU" gave one to [[Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica Sayaka]] in Reboot Season 25 by strangling her. [[EmpathicShapeshifter Their 6k1 persona]] took pity on her Arena sufferings and killed her in the Bloodbath.
** In Reboot Season 160, [[Film/Ghost1990 Sam Wheat]] did this upon '''all of humanity''' using a giant spoon after seeing them [[EldritchTransformation end up becoming eldritch horrors]] as a result of the Franchise/{{Ghostbusters}} spiking their drinks with literal [[invoked]] NightmareFuel during the Feast.
* MergedReality:
** The ultimate goal of the Legion of Doom was to merge all the universes so they could rule them all at once. This resulted in various creatures appearing outside their home universes and freely roaming in the merged ones. [[spoiler:Once the Legion was defeated, the effects of the Multiversal Convergence were undone by using their superweapon to fix them.]]
** The Voidlands has an ever-shifting landscape that rapidly and unpredictably transforms into various universes, given its eldritch nature.
* MesACrowd: Several nominators and villains use clones of themselves to make their jobs more efficient.
** Both Dave and Valecor can make clones of themselves so they can be in many places at once. They can also mentally communicate with them. Dave's clones may be augmented by the power of [[Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda the Sheikah tribe]] for spying purposes, since the Sheikah are infamous for their ability to blend in the shadows.
** Dave also employs the use of man-made [[Franchise/KingdomHearts Replicas]], which are more independent compared to his shadow clones. The Replica models are human in pretty much every way, since they are based off of [[VideoGame/KingdomHeartsIII Vexen's newest models for the Real Organization XIII.]]
** Downplayed with Billy, 6k1, and Power, who have only one clone each, but they help streamline their jobs.
*** Billy has an exact clone that was made by generating his body accurately in a chamber, before the clone was brought to life and had memories of Billy copied and transferred to it. However, it lacks Billy's combat skills.
*** 6k1 uses [[WesternAnimation/LiloAndStitchTheSeries Dupe]] to clone herself, but due to his defect, [[CloningSplitsAttributes her strength gets evenly divided between her and the clone.]]
*** Power draws weaker clones of herself in different art styles and assigns them to her art school, replacing them when they die. Her first was a minimalist self-portrait named [[PunnyName Pointy Stroke]], who died from the wounds inflicted by [[VideoGame/TheBattleCats Miko Mitama]] in Reboot Season 60. She was replaced by ''Paper'' Stroke, who was inspired by Twilight's form when she [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS5E12AmendingFences entered one of Moondancer's books to talk her out of her reclusiveness.]]
** Also downplayed with Elliot, since he and his clone are only different because of some time shenanigans. Elliot 1.0 and 2.0 were split around Reboot Season 52, when he was both sent back to his new body in his home multiverse and nominated for that season, as the Battle Royale was imminent then.
** Morgan the [[Franchise/{{Pokemon}} Morgrem]] can summon clones of himself during battles, which explode when they get hit.
** Deconstructed with "Archangel" Markus Hasselhoff. While he usually uses remote bodies to interact with the others, this is entirely a side effect [[EmergencyTransformation he never wanted in the first place]], [[spoiler:since he was burnt by the upper class people living in the Capitol using white phosphorus allotropes and he has to live inside a capsule for the rest of his life.]]
** June has used her abilities as a Zoroark to create illusionary duplicates of herself, such as during her performance at Hazemaster's Halloween party. While she doesn't use them in battle often, she did so during the final battle at the [[Franchise/{{Metroid}} Genetics Lab in [=SR388=]]] to divert Knox's attention from Wednesday.\\
\\
She used Stanford's cloning remote to create perfect duplicates of herself to help her prepare the lair for her Valentine's party, but Stanford reprimanded her for it because the stray clones made a mess. She profusely apologized for using his remote without permission, and with the help of the guests, she rounded up her clones and built a funhouse for them near the lair.
** Stef can make a potion that splits the drinker into multiple copies depending on how much they drink it. She used this on herself to try escaping Dark Stanford without him noticing, [[spoiler:but he caught her red-handed when the Hypnos-Stone he stole detected her "apparently" locked in his prison and hiding in [[Roleplay/WeAreAllPiratesRevenge Belissima]] at the same time]]. Stef also used this to split Les and Reba into multiple copies to scatter them across the Multiverse to ensure Dark Stanford doesn't catch them.
* MirrorMatch:
** VideoGame/{{Und|ertale}}yne, [[FisherKingdom who was transformed into a Swampert when she entered the]] VideoGame/PokemonMysteryDungeon World, had one against the [[VideoGame/MarioAndLuigiBowsersInsideStory Dark Star]] when it [[MirrorBoss transformed into Dark Undyne]] during the rescue mission for Lucian.
** Before it was nominated for Reboot Season 193, 6k1's [[Franchise/{{Pokemon}} Vaporeon]] fought against her Mew, [[DittoFighter which shapeshifted into it]], for her disguise revealer experiment. She had to determine which one of them was Mew before either of them fainted, but misjudged and accidentally zapped the real Vaporeon with her device. However, it was only stunned for a while, and Mew healed it before it went to the Arena.
* MisplacedWildlife: {{Lampshade|Hanging}}d during the vacation at the [[Franchise/FindingNemo Great Barrier Reef]], where [[Literature/TheMagicSchoolBus Carlos]] questioned Bailey living in the coral reef when belugas like him live in the Arctic. [[WesternAnimation/TheLittleMermaidIIReturnToTheSea Melody]] added that her penguin friend Dash is supposed to live farther south from her castle, so it wasn't that different from Bailey's situation.
* MistakenForImprisonment: Kenny and Heidi went to the outskirts of New Durango to rescue her twin sister Holly from a horde of bandits, but it turned out she was their leader and the cave where she was seemingly trapped in was their new lair.
* MistakenIdentity:
** [[AlternateSelf Alternate versions]] of canon characters (or "Prime Universe" selves) are regular tributes, and there are also alts of them who are ''[[InexplicablyIdenticalIndividuals near-perfect, if not exact copies]]'', all the way down to their backstories. The nominators learned how to tell them apart, but it's still easy to make mistakes.
*** While she's aware of them, 6k1 assumes that any tribute who shows up more than once is the same tribute from their first season for easier Database organization and because she believes that their experiences would be invalidated if an alt makes the Hall of Fame, [[AllForNothing rendering what seems to be many seasons of suffering just to get up there moot]]. While it ''is'' the case for her tributes, this came to a head when she thought the Legion of Doom forcibly nominated "her" Twilight into the Arena for Reboot Season 97 when it was AR Twilight instead, prompting the former to help her deal with her issues with "tribute theft". Twilight even wore a star-shaped clip so 6k1 [[IdenticalTwinIDTag can better tell her apart from other Twilights.]]\\
\\
[[spoiler:After accepting that the general public wouldn't care if the winning tributes are clones or alts, 6k1 made an exception for [[Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica Sayaka Miki]] when she finally got 2nd Place along with her friends in Reboot Season 190. She had been suffering under an abusive nominator for so many Earth Prime years, 6k1 no longer cared if she was an alt or not in that season, as Mr. Star presumably nominated and/or cloned her instead of Psyche and "her" Sayaka needed to recover. However, her assumption of tributes being the same since their first season still stands for the first reason mentioned.]]
*** Power, being 6k1's counterpart, also assumes that her tribute friends are still themselves and not alts whenever someone else nominates them. On the contrary, Ichi assures her that they ''are'' alts so she wouldn't be worried, but this gets {{subverted|Trope}} when she calls them with her crystal ball to [[SomethingOnlyTheyWouldSay confirm with them that they're not.]]
*** Ichi also mistakenly believed that the [[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Chara]] he nominated back in OT Season 21 wasn't the same Chara who owned the Locket that 6k1 used against [[spoiler:Photoshop Flowey]] in Scipion's [[VideoGame/PokemonMysteryDungeon Mystery Dungeon World]] until they confirmed it otherwise themself when 6k1 confronted them in their old village.
** 6k2[[note]]who was cloned from 6k1 because she was busy testing her disguise revealer[[/note]] mistook Rebbeca, who was transformed into a [[Franchise/{{Pokemon}} Mismagius]] at [[Roleplay/WeHaveAllBecomePokemon Whispering Pines]], for Persephone, another Mismagius 6k2's familiar with. Tokage pointed out that Persephone is centuries older.
** In the 4th Reboot Nominator Games (Season 200), CAC mistook Scipion, [[FreakyFridayFlip who was in June's body at the time]][[note]]though he was technically using a June illusion by Skyler since he was already switched back by Wanda-in-Cleo's-body[[/note]], for being [[GenderBender gender-swapped]] because he was out of the loop about the mass body-swapping incident.
** A two-way example occurs at the Rose Quarters, where [[VideoGame/PuyoPuyon Doppelganger Arle]] (who [[MeaningfulRename renamed herself "Lily" to differentiate herself from the original Arle]]) reacts to the presence of the Tempest System's Arle under the pretense that she was the same one that died [[spoiler:in the explosion that destroyed the Webking House]], and [[VideoGame/PuyoPuyo7 Ringo Andou]] initially comes to the wrong conclusion, thinking Lily is "Diacute Bayoen Arle", not Doppelganger Arle.
* MobileFishbowl: [[Franchise/FindingNemo Nemo and Dory]] each use one that's designed like [[WesternAnimation/{{Megamind}} Minion's]] so they can move around more easily.
* ModernizedGod: Satan wore EmoTeen clothes when Valecor visited him, reasoning that he had to keep up with the times.
* MorphicResonance: Most shapeshifters retain one distinguishable part so they can be identified by others when in a different form, and it's also useful for reminding themselves of who they are on the inside so they won't suffer an [[ShapeshifterIdentityCrisis identity crisis.]]
* MusicalisInterruptus: During the VideoGame/{{Under|tale}}ground's 6th Anniversary Festival, the main cast hosted the closing ceremony with a talent show. Because Asriel and Chara were busy exploring the Ruins, the finale's [[WebVideo/UndertaleTheMusical musical number]] was awkwardly interrupted because Asriel wasn't there to sing the final line.
* MySpeciesDothProtestTooMuch:
** [[VisualNovel/HiveswapFriendsim Galekh Xigisi]] believed that 6k1 nominated him in Reboot Season 37 under the assumption that [[AlwaysChaoticEvil all highbloods enjoyed slaughter]], which offended him.
** Venus threatened to add an "Asshole Tax" to the Cosmic Crusaders' bill after Charlotte assumed that all [[Franchise/{{Pokemon}} Purugly]] were "greedy, swindling pigs".
** Edgar, [[{{Hypocrite}} despite being a stereotypical greedy]] [[Franchise/{{Pokemon}} Murkrow]] who likes shiny objects, called out Scipion for assuming that ''all'' Murkrow are like this.
* NamedAfterSomebodyFamous: A few Franchise/{{Pokemon}} from the [[VideoGame/PokemonMysteryDungeon Mystery Dungeon Worlds]] are named after famous people, like Edgar the Murkrow being named after Creator/EdgarAllanPoe, author of ''The Raven'', and Vinci the Runerigus being an artist like his namesake Creator/LeonardoDaVinci.
* NamedByTheAdaptation: A lot of nameless {{Mooks}} that are nominated in ''Beyond the Possibilities'' are named in both RP threads. Examples include the [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Dry Bones]] in Reboot Seasons 127 and 130 being named Dry Bones Jones in ASAS, and various Franchise/{{Pokemon}} being given nicknames by their Trainers like Sunshine the Wooloo in Season 223.
* NeverSleepAgain: The Hypnos-Stone is a magical artifact hidden in Coatl's castle that allows an Alebrije to look into a person's dreams from anywhere in the Multiverse. [[spoiler:Blood Moon successfully stole it for Dark Stanford, who used it to locate the remaining alternate Stanfords in their sleep, so everyone who was under his threat worried about not being able to go to bed, just to avoid detection. This didn't matter anymore when Dark Stanford cracked the Hypnos-Stone's full potential as a Multiversal spy cam, allowing him to spy on anyone anytime, even when they're awake.]]
* NeverSplitTheParty: The basement team's strategy when they were investigating the Winter's End while the patrol team guarded it during the Sayaka Mission. However, Dave and Fira [[LetsSplitUpGang split from the others once]] when a voice beckoned them, which led them to being trapped by Dark Dave. Thankfully, he didn't seriously harm them, and he let them regroup with the others after confronting them about their relationship.
* NiceToTheWaiter: Reba, the queen of Rebassia, is shown to be generous when she tips the [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic earth pony]] waiter while hiding in Belissima, to Wanda's surprise since Reba used to be a greedy, tyrannical ruler.
* NoEndorHolocaust: To an extent whenever a tribute [[ThereIsNoKillLikeOverKill timewrecks]] another. Some of the ways they kill them cause massive collateral damage, but the other tributes seem to be conveniently out of range as they're not as severely affected as the victim for the rest of the season. However, the timewrecking in Reboot Season 60 was massive enough to destroy all the nominator schools and kill some of the teachers inside, but further measures were taken to prevent the destruction from happening again. Also, the Library didn't suffer any damage from the three timewrecking events in Seasons 60, 81, and 223 despite being inside the Arena.
* NonHumansLackAttributes: {{Lampshade|Hanging}}d by [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Roy Koopa]] when he [[FreakyFridayFlip switched bodies with Kay the Birdo]] during June's cheer-up party for Stanford. He mentioned lacking... [[GenderBender certain parts]], despite neither of them having visible privates to begin with.
* NotHelpingYourCase: During the prelude to the 5th Reboot Nominator Games, Ana mentions that Sylvi got the system killed with alcohol in the previous Nominator Games. Sylvi points out that technically she got them killed with ''turpentine'', which Ana does not think is an improvement at all.
* OfficialCouple: Besides the unusual pairings that hook up in the Arena, the nominators and their tributes have found love outside it in one way or another. Some of the notable pairings are Dave/Fira as per Season 108, James/Arthur as per Season 115 [[{{Polyamory}} (with Nick being added after Season 141)]], Tabby/Noire as per Season 125, George/Kayla as per Season 146, [[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Asgore/Toriel]] as per Season 167, Henry/Tenn as per Season 206, June/Aaron as per Season 222, and Kenny/Heidi as per Season 252.
* OffscreenMomentOfAwesome: [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Twilight]] entered [[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Asriel's]] nightmare to defend him from a [[DreamPeople nightmare version]] of CAC, one of his past nominators, who attempted to [[ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill timewreck]] him for [[SelfMadeOrphan murdering his parents in cold blood]] within the dream. The battle between Twilight and CAC wasn't shown, but she managed to restrain him with magical rope and [[TheReasonYouSuckSpeech call him out for his extreme vigilantism]], although she had to [[TakenForGranite turn him into stone]] for refusing to change.
* OhMyGods: With deities being Arena regulars, it's not uncommon for nominators and tributes alike to invoke their names. [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Ponies]] go "Oh my Celestia!", [[spoiler:even if she retired and passed the crown to Twilight]]; Pokémon from the [[VideoGame/PokemonMysteryDungeon Mystery Dungeon Worlds]] scream the names of Legendaries and Mythicals, not just Arceus; while Ichi once [[EmergencyMultifaithPrayer "prayed to every conceivable deity and even a few inconceivable ones"]] that 6k1 wouldn't come for him when ComicBook/{{Carnage}} gave Ally a death threat in Reboot Season 54.
* OneSteveLimit: Averted in general. With all the tributes coming from different universes, it's inevitable that many of them would share the same name. Notable aversions include:
** "Dave". There's Dave the Assassin, minor character ''Scientist'' Dave, and NPC ''[[VideoGame/PlantsVsZombies Crazy]]'' [[VideoGame/PlantsVsZombies Dave]].
** "Hal". There's Scientist Hal and [[Film/TwoThousandOneASpaceOdyssey HAL 9000]][[note]]who was remodeled into a toaster and then a toilet[[/note]], where the former is named after the latter.
** "Ribeyrolles". One's a [[VideoGame/GirlsFrontline Tactical Doll]] while the other's a sentient bullet that was given life by Star Energy.
** "Ichigo", a name shared between a nominator and a [[Manga/TokyoMewMew Magical Girl.]] Power had to call them by their last names during Bale's party.
** "Wanda". One's a magical ''T-rex'', the other's [[Literature/TheMagicSchoolBus one of Ms. Frizzle's students]], while another's [[WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddparents a fairy]] who snapped and went on a murder spree after her husband Cosmo's death in Reboot Season 140. The first one had to go by "Wandabee" since she and Wanda Li both met at Haze's Halloween party, and she also {{lampshade|hanging}}d how many Wandas there are already.
** Dess the [[VideoGame/PokemonLegendsArceus Hisuian Zoroark]] coincidentally shares the same name as [[VideoGame/{{Deltarune}} Noelle's]] [[TheGhost unseen sister]]. Hearing the Zoroark's name ends up upsetting Noelle the first time they meet because an unspecified but implied to be traumatic event happened to her sister when Noelle was a fawn and she never saw her ever since.
** During Ally's vacation to the [[Franchise/FindingNemo Great Barrier Reef]], [[WesternAnimation/TheLittleMermaid1989 Ariel's]] daughter [[WesternAnimation/TheLittleMermaidIIReturnToTheSea Melody]] met up with [[Roleplay/WeAreAllPiratesRevenge Ira's]] daughter, who's also named Melody. The former had to go by her nickname "Mel-Mel" while the latter had to go by her middle name "Kamea" to avoid confusion during the trip. There's also [[WesternAnimation/LittleEinsteins Melody the Music Pet]], who was struck with the [[Fanfic/BackgroundPony Background Tribute Curse]] in Reboot Season 134, which caused anyone who interacted with her to immediately forget about her.
** Nina is the sister of Vincent the [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Fire Piranha Plant]], but it's also the name of the stoic [[Franchise/{{Pokemon}} Cacturne]] of the Black Stars.
** The aversions were {{Lampshade|Hanging}}d by Power when she and [[VideoGame/{{Deltarune}} Ralsei]] prepared to go home after the first Reboot Nominator Games.
---> '''Power''': ''[to Dave]'' Just so you know, Ralsei's Dark World's not to be confused with [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaALinkToThePast that Dark World]] or [[Film/ThorTheDarkWorld that other Dark World]], you know what I mean?
---> '''Ralsei''': There's more than one Dark World?!
---> '''Power''': These Games are broadcasted across the entire multiverse, so that's to be expected!
* OpinionChangingDream: Les and Reba used to [[TerrifyingTyrannosaur live up to their species' name as tyrannical rulers of their kingdom]] and pushed their daughter Wanda into using her powers for evil just like them. Some time after she ran away from them, they were visited by an Alebrije called Nate in their dreams, who gave them a nightmare where they [[FreakyFridayFlip switched bodies with two of their commoners for a week.]] This made Les and Reba realize how much they hurt their daughter and the entire kingdom, and [[HeelFaceTurn they've been working on changing their ways since then.]] However, it took them years to convince the citizens that they've genuinely changed for the better, [[ReformedButRejected and Wanda initially didn't believe them]] when they find her at Eye-Sicle's lair.
* OurAlebrijesAreDifferent:
** The Alebrijes are winged magical creatures that range from MixAndMatchCritters to [[EldritchAbomination incomprehensible beings]] that glow a rainbow of colors and have different kinds of powers. They hail from New Durango's [[DreamLand Land of Dreams]] and can enter the dreams of others. They're also immortal creatures who have lived for thousands of years, but while they can't die naturally unless they give up their immortality along with their powers, they're still vulnerable to being killed. They [[AlienBlood spill rainbow blood]] when they die, and their souls are reduced to rainbow orbs that can be easily crushed by hand or absorbed. Alebrijes can also possess inanimate objects and assume their form and also possess living beings and control them, but by doing so, they destroy the host's soul, killing them.
** A curse called the Alebrije Touch can grant ordinary Durangians like Joaquin and the Sundown Bandits (the latter who renamed themselves the 'Brijes after their transformation) the powers of an Alebrije, but they can only [[NighttimeTransformation transform into them at sunset.]] Since Joaquin was closest to the urn that gave him the Touch, he can also [[SuperMode power himself up into a Full Alebrije when he taps into his maximum power.]] The Touch also [[NewBodyOldAbilities goes with the bearer whenever they switch bodies]], which was why Knox was still able to transform while in [[WesternAnimation/WileECoyoteAndTheRoadRunner Wile E. Coyote's]] body. Mortal descendants of Alebrijes can also be temporarily granted the Touch in case of emergency.
** [[spoiler:If the Hypnos-Stone gets stolen, the Alebrijes slowly mutate into Nightmares, which make bad dreams instead of good ones. The stronger-willed an Alebrije is, the more resistant they are to the transformation.]]
* OverusedRunningGag: In Reboot Season 114, the Gamemakers received many complaints from the viewers and even Mr. Sutton about RussianReversal events occurring too frequently, so they held a poll on what to do with them. The ones that happen in the Bloodbath along with a few others were purged the following season.
