* Kurapika and Chrollo actually have a surprisingly large fanbase as there are a surprisingly large number of fanfiction dedicated to the pair, with the most common plot comprising something of 'Chrollo capturing Kurapika and forcing him to join the Spiders to take Uvogin's place'.

* [[spoiler:During the Dark Continent arc, it is said that Hisoka hired Illumi to kill him. Illumi tells the Phantom Troupe that he [[https://ibb.co/wh79hmw signed a prenup/was given an engagement ring]] where if Hisoka dies, Illumi gets the money. It is unclear whether they are actually engaged or if it is just a [[OutOfCharacter joke]] on Illumi's part,]] but Togashi seems to be throwing a bone to the fans.

* Recent fanfiction has turned to the two unwillingly teaming up together on the Black Whale to help each other with their goal, from Kurapika helping in finding Hisoka to Chrollo aiding in protective Woble and getting to Tsseridnich.

* And of course, there's the famous scene where [[spoiler: Kurapika comes up with his plan, dresses as a female receptionist, captures Chrollo in his chains, and proceeds to punch the living daylights out of him. (Granted, this is not a healthy relationship, but...the circumstances you know.)]]
* Despite that, the two have been given a lot of parallels:
** Chrollo's coat has the upside-down Saint Peter's cross, Kurapika's Stealth Dolphin is revealed to have the upside down Saint Peter's cross on it as well.
** Chrollo's main Nen ability is to steal other people's nen abilities, Kurapika's latest chain has the abilities to steal nen abilities.

** The Black Whale arc is where both their emotional situations have switched from their previous meeting. In Yorknew Kurapika was distressed and overcome with vengeance and grief while Chrollo was calm and collective, on the Black Whale Kurapika has come to be calm and collective, while the first time we see Chrollo he is overcome with grief and dispair.

* In the 1999 anime, it shows them hanging out together during the Hunter exam. [[spoiler:Illumi and Hisoka even pass the time in the trick tower playing cards.]]
* Hisoka calls Illumi a “friend” as a loose definition of their relationship despite Illumi’s belief that assassins don’t have friends. Illumi doesn’t correct him.
* Hisoka hires [[spoiler:Illumi to help him trick Chrollo, Illumi notes that he’s known Hisoka longer than he’s known Chrollo and helps deceive Chrollo who was recently his client, by shapeshifting to look like Hisoka.]]

* In the election arc, [[spoiler:Hisoka teases that Illumi should be his manager, then he and Illumi go to a bar together where Illumi spills his heart to Hisoka on his family issues.]]
* [[spoiler:Hisoka teases Illumi again later that he doesn't want to invite other people along in their pursuit of Killua because he’s “shy” essentially telling Illumi he doesn’t want anyone to intrude on their working relationship.]]

* On a subtler note, Hisoka's strange partnership with Illumi does not want homoerotic overtones, though they could also be grouped as two grown men who have a thing for underaged boys.

* The whole Zoldyck family arc can be interpreted as Gon wanting to free Killua from his toxic family.

* Hisoka has had his eye on Chrollo 2 years prior to the start of the series and is incredibly interested in him. He has dedicated years of his own towards his obsession with Chrollo and actually had to learn about the group, as well as how to join so he could infiltrate and get closer to Chrollo. After years of trying Hisoka hasn't given up on challenging Chrollo and still continues on.

* Oddly enough during the deathmatch with Hisoka, Chrollo offers to call off the match if Hisoka wanted, but would give it his all if Hisoka wanted to continue.

* In canon verse itself, the whole Zoldyeck family arc can be interpreted as Gon wanting to free Killua from his crazy-manipulative family.

* They certainly have the Foe Yay aspect going on. Although, it definitely is more of one-sided hate from Kurapika towards an otherwise indifferent Chrollo.

* Some FoeYay going on between Pariston Hill and Ging Freecss. Apparently, Ging shares his son's curse of unwanted attention from murdersexuals. Ging calls their relationship “complicated.”
