*** And seen the whole bloody time in SaintSeiyaTheLostCanvas, two notable examples being Capricorn El Cid finally killing the four Dream Gods and saving Athena and the protagonists at the cost of his own life, and with Sagittarius Sisyphus' [[UnleadedNightmareFuel quite frankly terrifying]] HeroicSacrifice, in which he ripped out his own heart. Nice.

I\'m inclined to disagree that death\'s a slap on the wrists, being that those with special privileges are the one\'s who are able to keep their bodies. Not to mention family, friends and various other things contribute to the level of meaningfulness. This really only works if you watch it as a series, because it all justifies itself.

** HeroicSacrifice almost never works in ''DragonBall''; it's usually just a SenselessSacrifice. Even played straight it's mostly meaningless anyway, since [[DeathIsASlapOnTheWrist the afterlife practically has a revolving door]]...
