* In Benton's last appearance as a regular character on the show, he meets with Carter so his former student can say goodbye and tell him how much Peter helped him become the doctor he is today. Their meeting ends with an awkward hug that Carter initiates but Benton initially doesn't want any part of. In the final episode, after Benton and Carter have spent the night with old friends and are going their own way, Carter goes to say goodbye to Benton with a handshake.
