*** His farewell to Sarah Jane. The last heroic act the Tenth Doctor ever performed was to ''save her son'' from being hit by a car. That's a really big deal. And no words are exchanged between the Doctor and Sarah. No words are needed. The way he smiles at her and waves and the knowing look on her face....it just speaks volumes about the chemistry those two have. Even more so when you consider that, among all the people he visited (at least the ones shown on screen), she was probably one of the only ones who actually realized what was about to happen.
*** The episode of ''The Sarah Jane Adventures'', "Death of the Doctor", turned that whole sequence into an even bigger moment of heartwarming. The Doctor tells Jo Grant that he didn't just revisit all the companions from his tenth incarnation. He revisited all of them, every single one, from his first life to his tenth. And given that he visited the descendant of someone who wasn't even a companion, who knows how many people important to him he may have appeared to...

He doesn’t remember the full 4.5 billion years. He just remembers the last cycle. Still it has been well 1000 years

* In the opening narration, the Doctor calls Donna his best friend, and shows that fifteen years later (well over a billion from the perspective of the Doctor's timeline), he still thinks fondly of her. The cut-ins show that Donna does seem genuinely happy with her husband Shaun and daughter Rose, even if she does feel a tad unfufilled.

And they're also proving Davros wrong; he claimed that the Doctor turned ordinary people into weapons, but the companions prove to be just as important when it comes to saving Earth.
** On top of that, news broadcasts show that fireworks are launched in ''every'' country after Earth's safe return. And the caption accompanying this footage is even better: "EARTH RETURNS HOME".

** A meta example: this scene was (posthumously) Creator/BernardCribbins' last-ever TV appearance, and after it was broadcast, Creator/RussellTDavies posted [[https://www.instagram.com/p/C0XS8XNtlDP/ a touching tribute to him on Instagram]].
--->'''RTD''': Farewell, old soldier. That’s goodnight and goodbye to our beloved Bernard. Wilf is mentioned in dispatches next week, all safe and sound, don’t worry, but that's the only scene Bernard was able to film. We had a wonderful time! We'd never lost touch, in all these years, so I phoned him up and asked him to come back. He sniffed and said, 'Let me see the script.' We had a wonderful readthrough with 120 people at which he was adored by one and all. A lovely dinner in Cardiff where he regaled us with tales galore, twinkling as ever. Then the shoot in Camden - you can see in Unleashed and read in next week's [[Magazine/DoctorWhoMagazine DWM]] how much he enjoyed that. And then... [[WhatCouldHaveBeen we had a little more written, but it wasn’t to be;]] at 93 years old, the old soldier had given us his best, and stepped away. Night, Bernard, and thank you. I love you.

* The Doctor going all fanboy when he meets Dickens. Considering that this is a darker, more jaded version of The Doctor, it makes that much more heartwarming and showcases that, despite the trauma he's faced, he's still the same whimsical Doctor we all know and love.
