For how miserable he was in life, its heart-warming to see how much joy he's found in his present circumstances.

* Just seeing Simon and Marceline's past relationship and him acting as her father figure is enough to give the coldest heart the warm fuzzies. And the main plot was just that Marcy was sick and Simon wanted to give her some soup. The climax has Ice King being forced to wear the crown to protect Marcy from the [[NuclearMutant Nuclear Mutants]], while singing the [[Series/{{Cheers}} theme song]] he sang when he played with her to keep his mind under control. * It's strangely heartwarming that the Ice King made such an impression on Gunter that when the planet-crushing, demonic penguin is given a crown to grants his deepest wish... he just wishes to be like the Ice King. Oh, and he wishes for his drumset, too.

* The final scene before the epilogue slideshow is of Finn sitting in the wreckage of the treehouse, and is approached by PB. She thanks him for [[TakeAThirdOption TakingTheThirdOption]] in her conflict with Gumbald, comments on how much he's grown, and kisses him goodnight. There is something sweet about Finn accepting the kiss without being flustered at all, showing how far he's come from the emotionally volatile little boy with a crush. He and PB are close to being on equal footing, and he sees her as nothing more than a dear friend.
