Sachs, of course, had less honorable motives than furthering research, so he hired O'Neill, taking the chance that he had what it takes to get him what he wanted despite his flaws. So Sachs allowed Dr. O'Neill leeway to let him bring his daughter to work and let her feed the test subjects pizza.
