* Was Charles Grodin actually banned from hosting because he "missed dressed rehearsal"? Or was it all in the script?

** Accounts vary, but from what we understand, Grodin wanted to be able to ad-lib, but was told he could not. When the episode actually aired, he did ad-lib, and the cast was not prepared for this, plus his ad-libs all ended up landing flat. Lorne Michaels is adamant that no one is allowed to ad-lib.

** Because they [=SUUUUUCK!=]. Seriously, the episodes are pre-arranged with the strongest stuff earlier, and they want to make the reruns fit into hour-long slots.

* Is there some special reason why reruns of SNL omit the entire last half hour of the show? I know it can't be because of commercials, but I don't get why they have to completely skip the last half hour of each episode. Is it to keep each episode in an hour-long timeslot or something?
