** I imagine the time travel thing was more of a last resort than anything else, something Raiden put off so much he nearly forgot about it till it was too late. It's something none of the gods in the series have used, at least as far as we're aware, because it can do more harm than good. For example, [[spoiler:Sindel killing off half the cast plus herself]] might be bad, but what if Raiden saw that and tried to wind the clock back ''again'' to avoid it? Just ask [[Film/BackToTheFuture Marty McFly]] how time travel can go wrong.

In ''MKX'', his hair was grey and balding and his face was slightly wrinkled, whereas here he looks almost identical to how he did 26 years ago in ''[=MK9=]''. Meanwhile, Past!Kano, who is meant to be from that point in the timeline, looks nothing like his ''[=MK9=]'' design , instead looking more like his Klassic design.

* Who's the monk beside Liu Kang and Kung Lao?
** A younger, human Raiden? His outfit looks about the same, colors and all.
*** Raiden's always appeared as a middle-aged white dude. This character is clearly a younger, Chinese man.
*** Raidan's also always beena god that appeared however he wished up until now. He's mortal now and to exist would need a mortal family to be born into. It's not that surprising Liu Kang had him born into a family close to his own. he may even have replaced Liu Kang in the family.
* How is Shang Tsung back? We already know thanks to the reveal trailer that the Fire God Liu Kang ending of [=MK11=] Aftermath, where Liu Kang erases Shang Tsung from existence, is the canon ending. Liu Kang saying ''"No more timelines will be twisted by your evil."'' shows that Shang Tsung's erasure was meant to carry over into the New Era. So what gives?
** Depends on how hands on Liu Kang was with sculpting destiny. If he left things mostly in tact then Shang Tsung would be born again into the new timeline just as he always is. The old version was erased but the new one was given a chance to be different. Liu Kang may have learned that removing Shang Tsung caused too many changes or gave a greater evil a chance to rise in his absence. Who else would have created Mileena in the new era?

* What is with time in Konquest Mode? Shujinko goes into the Netherrealm just before ''Videogame/MortalKombat1'', but then he meets Scorpion while he's there, and gets told that Quan Chi killed Scorpion's family. Scorpion only figured this out near/at the end of ''Videogame/MortalKombat4'', so did Shujinko spend years in the Netherrealm? Furthermore, Shujinko then apparently gets thrown in prison by Hotaru and spends years growing old in there. This apparently takes place between Deadly Alliance and Deception. How? Deception happened right after Deadly Alliance.
