** [[DontExplainTheJoke That's the joke.]]
* This is really general, only did anyone else think this was nowhere near funny? It seemed to be popular amongst the site's fans, so I might be a minority on this, only I was very disappointed by it indeed. In this whole attempt to be 'epic,' as the fans all say, we just get a bunch of slow boring montages that do nothing beyond mocking movie-montages. Then most of the jokes I felt like were the same thing over and over. Character goes into dramatic monologue. Character acts overblown and ostentatious. Character chews scenery and references other movies. Then they subvert it by suddenly slipping into a casual tone of voice and noticing something silly....Not so funny after the nine hundredth time. I could go elsewhere, like how the whole Sarah Palin thing seemed really forced and unoriginal, only those were the main things that made it un-funny to me. It was just this big attempt to be 'epic,' and was the same joke over and over. Anyone agree on the whole or what?

** Except it wasn't really the Critic there. That was Doug (I checked, both Ellis and Film Brain called him Doug) playing the BadBoss version of himself who also happened to be sleeping with Ellis.

* Film Brain is out of character. This wouldn't bug me much - RuleOfFunny and all that (plus it's flippin' adorable) - except that the Nostalgia Critic appeared in Bad Movie Beatdown: The Jazz Singer as a BadBoss - and Film Brain was definitely not his lapdog in that skit. Can anyone else who remembers that make sense of the change?

*** Linkara has cloned (basically resurrected) Spoony before and has been shown to be able to alter the mind of the clone before letting it out into the world. Had N. Bison killed Insano, Linkara could've brought Spoony back without Insano in the poor guy's head. Benzaie probably doesn't have any knowledge of this, and therefore would be ''very'' against killing Spoony. So that actually makes sense to me.

* Okay, [[{{hazzaboner}} this troper]] is going to have to restart the whole SarahPalin thing bugging mess. It's not that her accent or impression is bad, necessarily. It's that the whole thing is ''ridiculously'' dated. Sarah Palin hasn't been a huge personality for about a year and a half, and the TinaFey impersonation is just that old. Consider that, if there had been such a parody at the last anniversary, it would have been ''six months'' out of date. The reference is dated and it's already been done to death, and it ruins the great character of the NostalgiaChick with a one joke character whose joke isn't even funny.

complaining about the reaction, not the work.

* In a bit of a Meta Bug, I was somewhat Bugged by how after Kickassia was finished, and the general reception to the series (both on TGTWG.com and third-party sites) was 'SoOkayItsAverage', a sizable handful of the major contributors (Linkara, Rob, Spoony, I think FilmBrain made a few comments as well) to TGWTG came out of the woodwork ([[AnalogyBackfire not that they were in the woodwork]]) to the defend the series. Most of the Trope pages here about TGWTG people list them as aversions to the SmallNameBigEgo trope, but it strongly felt to [[Tropers/MisterBibs this troper]] that they were ''seriously'' confused that people weren't singing their praises like they did with the Brawl.
** Well, they put a lot of effort on production, gained approval of Kevin Baugh and had a lot of unexpected problems to solve. Kickassia requested more than Brawl, and not only because Brawl was shorter. I didn’t saw too much of their comments, but it’s understandable that after this whole work they would not at first notice flaws of their product, and that they thought that it would be bigger hit than Brawl, and they want to defend it.
** People who spent a great deal of effort and time on producing something they enjoyed making actually coming out and ''defending'' their own work from criticism? [[SarcasmMode Those rat-bastards!]]
** Besides, they were more calling out the nit picky fans that don't understand just what kind of an achievement filming a movie in four days is.
*** These fans mainly objected to the writing, something that can't be excused by saying "But we had bad lighting!"
** And people thought it was SoOkayItsAverage? ''Really''? So why were the majority of edits over here saying how awesome and epic it was?
*** Because tropers are big TGWTG fans? Don't get me wrong, I loved Kickassia, but between the characterization, Insano's build-up and then [[spoiler:having him get all but curb-stomped and turn back into Spoony for no reason]], Santa Christ's LoveItOrHateIt status, and the rushed ending, it's easy to see why some fans might say "It was kinda funny, but not as much as the Brawl."
*** YMMV. The Brawl ''didn't'' have a rushed feel with one-note characterizations? The ending in fact came from nowhere. Yes, it was funny but still... wait... didn't I delete the Meta Bug [[strike:a few months back]] exactly a month ago for ComplainingAboutShowsYouDontLike? Seriously! This isn't what FridgeLogic is for. And yes, JustBugsMe is about Fridge Logic. Saying something about the writing inconsistencies or a PlotHole is fine, but this is outright creator bashing!!
*** Yes, but the Brawl wasn't nearly as plot-driven as Kickassia. And the characterization complaint isn't that the characters were one-note, but deviated rather heavily from their normal personae. I'm not saying I agree with this, merely bringing up common arguments and pointing out that just because everyone here loved it doesn't mean there was no one who didn't say negative things about it on the web. (I, personally, prefer Kickassia to the Brawl.)

* There is a ''lot'' of UnpleasableFanbase where people criticise Kickassia for having plot holes, deviations in characters, or just problems in general. I'm not going to deny that it has it, although a lot of the plot holes and character deviations ''were'' intentional as a parody, and a good chunk of the {{Flanderization}} of the characters was intentional. However, can you really blame Doug for writing for ''over twenty different people'' and not knowing all the ins-and-outs of their characters? What really gets me is that a lot of people don't get how much of a huge achievement it was to film a full-length feature movie on a tiny budget, with very limited production costs, in an absolutely ''miniscule'' window of time, with a group of untrained actors. Most projects this large take ''months'' to do, and they did this in ''days.'' A lot of the contributors on tvtropes.org accept this, and a lot of tropers who have seen and know the work of team TGWTG totally understand and enjoy it for what it is. But elsewhere, there are huge swaths of complaints and non-constructive criticism that nearly drown the work. And this fucking annoys me! It bugs me! And I don't know why! Why!? WHY!? ** Late as anything but about the "ruining the Chick" thing, first off - let's face it - these are comedy characters and even while they're pretty consistent in the long-run, none of them are exactly three-dimensional. {{Kickassia}} is considered canon and, if anything, it makes them a bit more fleshed out. And secondly, while Chick is obviously held together better than Critic, you can't go through her episodes and say she's not pretty cracked herself. (And I love crazy people, so there.)

A lot of the contributors on tvtropes.org accept this, and a lot of tropers who have seen and know the work of team TGWTG totally understand and enjoy it for what it is. But elsewhere, there are huge swaths of complaints and non-constructive criticism that nearly drown the work. And this fucking annoys me! It bugs me! And I don't know why! WHy!? WHY!? [[{{Angrish}} AUURGHHHLKXN!!!!]]. ... [[GoMadFromTheRelevation I think that's a word.]] //end rant.

I mean, the entire thing was meant to be a fun celebration of a pretty breakthrough evolution in internet entertainment. And it was good and funny.
