** The funk number was mostly to give the middle finger to Vocal Adrenaline: 'look at us, absolutely killing a genre that you've never been able to do'. The thing was, Vocal Adrenaline are champions for a reason--they're perfectly rehearsed, crisp and synchronized, and that's what judges like to see. A funk number would have shown the judges that the New Directions have more fun when they perform, but would have looked under-rehearsed next to whatever masterpiece Vocal Adrenaline would have performed.

!!Mercedes
Mercedes is excited at the beginning to do a funk number, and not only seems confident in her ability to pull it off the best, but goes so far as to be disparaging to Quinn's excitement for doing funk. Come Mercedes performance, and she doesn't even do a funk number, but instead goes along with the two extremely misinformed white boys--singing backup moreover--which seems like it should be the antithesis of her character.

* Why did Kurt let Finn go ahead with revealing Quinn's pregnancy through song? Finn can be forgiven for not really thinking ahead, because it's pretty obvious that his family doesn't do secrets, and he's kind of dumb anyway, but Kurt should know better than anyone how dangerous it was for Finn to essentially 'out' Quinn to her parents.

** I assumed that Kendra meant only two ''practices''. The doctor that did Quinn's checkup wasn't Dr. Wu, but it appeared to be the same practice (especially since it's unlikely that Dr. Wu would have been able to acquire Quinn's sonogram if it was done by his competitor). So there could be more than two OB/GYN's in Lima, but they all either work for Dr. Wu or his competitor.

**** Finn ''isn't'' very assertive though. One could argue that he shouldn't have let Rachel flirt with him nearly as much as he did while he was dating Quinn, or that he should have stood up to his football friends far earlier than this episode, or that he shouldn't have let Quinn treat him the way she did. It's an established character trait of Finn's that he takes the path of least social resistance, and generally, does whatever will minimise people being mad at him.

* Is it just me, or did anyone else feel like the rest of the glee club ''really'' underreacted to the news that Puck slept with his best friend's girlfriend, got her pregnant and she proceeded to pretend the baby was Finn's, putting him under an incredible amount of strain? I mean, they were definitely probably holding it together for sectionals, but still--I find it hard to believe that the whole club was absolutely fine with protecting Puck and Quinn and hiding this from Finn. I would definitely have thought that a lot of the club would have lost a lot of respect for the two of them after that, and that someone like Mercedes--who appears to have a very strong moral compass, and no problem sharing her thoughts--would have given them a piece of her mind.

* It's only purpose was to lead up to "Total Eclipse of the Heart", but the writers were too chicken to make her do anything actually bad. If she had actually made a "slutty girl singer" video things would have made a lot more sense, or at least a song that actually features multiple men going after one girl. It was just really bad writing, especially when Finn had to basically [[ThatMakesMeFeelAngry explain to the audience why they were all mad.]] I'm pretty sure the actor didn't even understand what he was saying.

** The thing is, they ''all'' filmed those scenes. As far as the boys are concerned, there was no reason for Rachel to include scenes with all three of them, ''unless'' she was trying to make it look like she had multiple guys after her. They're less concerned that she's "cheating on them" or whatever, but more that she specifically lied to them to make herself look cooler. This probably also led to a blow to their confidence, something that Finn has stressed is an issue for him and other guys.

** Artie was probably frustrated because Rachel is singing a huge dramatic breakup number lamenting a breakup that was entirely her fault ''again''. Rachel has a tendency to make bad relationship choices and then when they inevitably backfire, she plays the victim (see 'Take A Bow' in episode two), and it's probably exhausting for everyone else.
