In the original Anno Dracula we are told that Lord Ruthven sought out and turned Lord Godalming because of his wealth and position and because he knew how desperate for an Elder's protection the Englishman would be after his brush with 'treason' as a member of Van Helsing's gang, but we are also told in Seward's flashback to the period just after they failed to stop Dracula that an Undead Mina Harker told Seward that "Lord Godalming is with us" only a few weeks after their failure and before Dracula had moved his main residence to London, never mind taken over the country. Just how soon did Ruthven throw his hand in with Dracula's conquest?
