* VideoGame/BaldursGateIII:
** One subplot in the game revolves around the Strange Ox, a creature traveling to the titular city alongside the tiefling refugees disguised as one of their oxen. If you meet it again early in Act 3 you can recruit it to help you against the FinalBoss, but not only is it hidden this time around, it also vanishes entirely if you progress too far without speaking to it first.
** Noblestalk, a panacea mushroom and quest item sought by a pair of dwarven merchants in the Underdark. You're expected to give it to the wife for VideoGameCaringPotential, but it has additional uses beyond that. It can be used to partially restore Dark Urge and Shadowheart's memories, unlocking an entire quest in the latter's case. Alternatively, for VideoGameCrueltyPotential you can give it to the demented husband and turn him back into a drunken abuser.

* VideoGame/NEOTheWorldEndsWithYou: Scoring high enough to win prizes from Scramble Slams requires knowing that 1) you can chain Noise fights to fights with [=NPCs=] from other teams only if you run into the NPC at the end of the chain, and 2) points are earned based on how much damage you do with Beatdrops, meaning strong, single-attack pins are better to use over weak, multi-hit ones. Neither of these mechanics are explained across any of the three Scramble Slams, and coming in first for all three is required to get the Stop-and-Go Ensemble.

*** Once you obtain the 5th Star Piece (from the Pirate) the bad guys will demand to hand it over, and you have the option to do this, or refuse. Naturally, one assumes that refusing is the correct option leading to battle, but the bad guys will just torrure the imprisoned Toads instead and repeat the order. The only way to proceed is to give in (and battle later) and each time you refuse, including the first, your reward is diminished. The only way to receive the best reward is to give in immediately.
*** The only way to obtain the Lazy Shells (best weapon and armor for Mario) is a glaring example. First, after defeating the Piranha Plant that the flying Shy Guy fertilises, you must, instead of jumping to the next level, go somewhat further and find the Super Seed, but this is realistic. Then, however comes the hard pard: after defeating Valentive, you must walk off the Cloud at a certain spot on the right side and find that Shy Guy, who then will give you the Super Fertiliser tin exchange for freedom. Finally, having obtained both, you must return to the first village and talk to the gardener (who at first visit didn't say anything relevant), who will reveal he needs those items. If you hand over both of them, a plant will grow, which you then must climb to get to the two chests containing the items.

* VideoGame/EldenRing: Getting the Dung Eater puppet. The game never hints that you can use Seluvis's Potion with anyone other than Nepheli (it can also be given to Gideon, who will dispose of it), and it won't work until you've defeated his invasion. Just killed the guy on sight like any sane person would do? Congratulations, you missed out on giving him a Karmic FateWorseThanDeath and one of the game's best summons.

** Completing Varre's quest offline. Varre's quest focuses on [=PvP=] and at one point requires you to invade others three times. This is fairly easy to do online (you don't have to win said invasions), but offline, you have to find Magnus the Beast Claw's NPC invasion sign, added in patch 1.07. Said patch did not add anything extra that would indicate where said sign is, so you'll either have to stumble on it exploring or look it up on the wiki. For the record, he's in the Writheblood Ruins.
** Getting the good ending to Boc's quest requires you to find the 'You're Beautiful' prattling pate while exploring and use it next to him. Talk to him without doing this and, one way or another, he ends up dead.
