Also, Liquid Courage is a subtrope of I Need A Freaking Drink.

* Wallace taking a sip from a barrel of liquor at the end of his LetsGetDangerous scene, a bit of FridgeBrilliance behind his satisfaction implies that he's enforcing a law he doesn't believe in. Given that he was an accountant who'd just been involved in a shootout with Capone's men, killing at least two and knocking one out, he might have just needed some [[INeedAFreakingDrink liquid courage]].

--->'''Malone''': I said you're a lying member of a no-good race.
--->''Stone knocks the clipboard out of his hands and points his gun under his chin.''
--->'''Stone''': It's much better than you, you stinking Irish pig.
--->'''Malone''': Oh, I like him.
--->'''Ness''': Yeah, I like him too.

* Capone's baseball bat scene? Horrifying. The other gangsters' extremely calm and mildly discomforted reactions? Priceless. Even when Capone is beating one of his men to death, many simply frown or furrow their brows, while the waiters are completely indifferent while watching. [[FridgeHorror Maybe this has happened before...]]
** Nitti's reaction (or lack thereof) is even ''more'' disturbingly funny, as he just sits there folding his napkin like a bored little kid.

* After [[spoiler: Wallace and George are murdered]], Ness goes to Capone's hotel to confront him calling him a "son of a bitch". Capone, with his wife and son at the time, takes umbrage at this remark, and replies: "[[HypocriticalHumor You talk to me like that in front of my son? FUCK YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!]]"

* An awful lot of people get decked in this film. Malone punches George when he won't talk, Ness drops one of Capone's men at the hotel [[spoiler: after Wallace's death]], Malone beats the shit out of Mike the police chief to make him talk, and Capone cold cocks his own defense lawyer when he [[spoiler: changes their plea to "guilty"]]. Even moreso than guns, the characters' main weapon they fall back on when they don't get their way is a knuckle sandwich.

* Upon meeting nerdy Federal accountant Oscar Wallace, Malone looks him over and says, "You carry a badge? Carry a gun!" and hands him a shotgun. Wallace stands there with a "what did I just get myself into?" look for a second, then puts his files down without a word and hurries to catch up with the team for the liquor raid.
** Also, catch when Oscar comes in the door he swung it so it ends up hitting Stone who was behind it.

* Nitti "[[BondOneLiner is in the car]]".
* Malone's comment on the stammering first potential recruit: "There goes the next chief of police."
* Malone recruiting George Stone.

-->'''Malone:'''(shoots Tommy gun in the air, causing man he's chasing to stop and put his hands in the air) Alright! Enough of this running shit!

* When the Mounties jump the gun and preemptively start the raid, an exasperated Malone just says "Oh, what the hell? You gotta die of something!"
* Malone, despite being the grizzled KnightInSourArmor (or maybe because of it), is also made of funny. He knees a Capone flunky in the balls when he demands a warrant, and adds, "How do you think he feels now? Better, or worse?"
* After [[spoiler: Wallace and George are murdered]], Ness goes to Capone's hotel to confront him calling him a "son of a bitch". * Rewatch the scene near the beginning of the movie, where we follow the pickup and delivery of a newspaper from the street through the hotel to its final destination in Al Capone's lap. Look closely about halfway through: Bowtie Driver is putting some hot and heavy moves on a girl on the steps. Frank Nitti walks up behind him and [[DopeSlap slaps him upside the head]], basically telling him to "cut the shit"!
