* The Heart of Liberty Boarding School is a huge source of NightmareFuel once you have a moment to ''think'' about it:
** There is a trowaway line from one of the staff that they were experimenting on demigods for nearly 30 years. Yet, Chiron said that the Camp became aware of the problem in the last couple of years. [[NothingIsScarier What happened to all those test subjects?]]
** All those crazy demigods running around and attacking people - they are ''the good result'' of the severing procedure. Nico and Jason see the average ones in the cells under the school. Now think how ''the bad ones'' turned out.
** It's repeatedly stated that gods have a hand in keeping the Western Civilization (relatively) stable by keeping both natural and man-made disasters in check. If they were cut out from the mortal world, it would get [[EndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt very bad, very fast]].
*** Assuming a less benevolent pantheon didn't decide to move into the empty space.
** While the series was written years before ''Literature/TheTrialsOfApollo'', it's not hard to imagine that the Triumvirate may have had a hand in this... project.

* Canonically Nico stated he felt isolated and ignored by everyone around him after Book 5, a point that was countered by Will Solace who made the point that Nico was the one pushing people away, not the other way around. Death God Alliance Nico is, unintentionally, a Nico who realized this a lot earlier on, and while still not uber popular, has dependable friends in Camp.

* The small hints that Nico has a bit of a crush on Sadie. Doylist explanation: the fic was written before he was outed as gay. Watsonian explanation: he's currently hosting Anubis who is genuinely attracted by Sadie. Just look at Zia for confirmation that a god's feelings can influence his vessel.

Fridge Horror
* In order to find Hazel in the Fields of Asphodel, [[IdenticalGrandson Leo]] decides to use himself as bait. His plan perfectly works since Hazel is intrigued by his singing... then ''horrified'' because she believes he's Sammy. And that's ''twice'' bad, because a) dead people [[EmptyShell lose their minds in the Fields]], and b) Leo is only a teenager. Meaning Hazel briefly thought her FirstLove died young and was condemned to aimlessly wander in the Underworld.
** Even worse, the Fields of Asphodel are the usual destination for ''mundane'' people, the ones which led a quiet, ordinary life. So Sammy likely ''was'' sent to the Fields but Hazel wouldn't be able to recognize him since he grew old since they last saw each other.
