** Another reason for it to not be caught is that there's ''multiple'' exhaust ports, and only ''one'', and a secondary one at that, leads the torpedoes to the reactor. It would take an ''extreme'' example of ProperlyParanoid to check the entire plans and realize that minuscole weakness (in fact that's exactly the kind of officer that ''does'' discover the weakness during the Battle of Yavin, only for Tarkin to dismiss it as paranoia). Even then, exploiting the weakness requires a crack-shot (a Jedi is ideal as is demonstrated) to deliver the necessary payload, which would cause officers to further dismiss the problem.

** Additionally, with the Empire being partially hobbled by bureaucracy and infighting, there is bound to be quite a few oversights happening in the Empire, something a savvy engineer/saboteur could exploit to subtly sabotage their creations. With the Emperor's addiction to AwesomeButImpractical space stations, the Death Star alone would be a nightmare in quality assurance.

** The name itself is also one last spiteful "fuck you" to the empire; because once the rebels capitalize on the sabotage he did, all that will remain of this project is "stardust".

** Also, in every cannon Rogue Squadron shows up in, There is no "Rogue One/first Wingman" it's Rogue Leader-Luke Skywalker Rogue Two/Rogue Leader Wedge Antilles then so on to either Rogue 4 or 5. Rogue Squadron has a Missing man formation.

* There's a good out-of-universe reason why it's a ''Hammerhead'' to take out the Star Destroyers and the shield gate and allowing the plans for the Death Star to be broadcast: hammerhead-style warships have all but been the symbol of the Republic Navy since they appeared in ''ComicBook/TalesOfTheJedi'' in 1994 while the Star Destroyer has been the same for the Empire, [[CoolVersusAwesome it was a battle that was long in the making]] and poetic justice that a hammerhead paved the way for the end of the Empire.

** That's just Rebel Alliance radio protocol. Red Leader isn't Red One, Gold Leader isn't Gold One. The missing callsigns are usually because the Alliance doesn't have enough ships and/or pilots to fill out all their squadrons completely. Still, the impact of the Rebellion's top fighter squadron being named after these heroes is significant.
